No they don't. We are one of the top teams in the league in terms of sacks allowed.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/statistics?s...2&year=2007

We rank 7th. We've only given up 10 this year.
Yes, our O-line is one of the best in not allowing the other team to sack Carson.

I was so getting so hung up on your negativity all day long, that I missed something positive in your post. It's all good.
Chad trashed after talk
By GEOFF HOBSON
November 5, 2007
1 a.m.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. _ Chad Johnson talked and Bills safety Donte Whitner trashed him over the middle in the final two minutes of Sunday's 33-21 loss to the Bills.

Johnson lay face down on the Bills 35 after Whitner drilled him in the chest while breaking up a pass and submerged Ralph Wilson Stadium into a scene painfully reminiscent of the one that took place Opening Day against the Broncos.

Johnson was strapped on a board and taken to an ambulance, but that's where the similarities ended with Bills tight end Kevin Everett. Everett suffered a fractured spine and is just now beginning to move his arms and legs.

Johnson, the NFL's defending receiving yardage champion, immediately moved his legs and was able to accompany the team back to Cincinnati Sunday night. He did undergo a CT scan, which came back negative, and he'll no doubt be questionable at best Monday to play in his 96th straight game in Baltimore this Sunday.

It all began more than 10 minutes earlier, when Johnson dropped what looked to be the game-breaking play. With the Bengals leading, 21-19, and staring at a third-and-eight on their 22, quarterback Carson Palmer rifled a slant pass to Johnson dancing in a wide-open seam at the Bengals 42. It sure looked like if he caught it, he was gone for a 78-yard touchdown that would have given the Bengals a 28-19 lead.

"I didn't see the end of it," Palmer said. "98 out of 10) times Chad makes that play...I don't think (the drop changed momentum). I never felt like we had it."

Johnson ran before he had it.

"I saw Chad looking at me. He wasn't looking at the football. That's probably why he dropped the ball and took a bad angle on that and luckily he dropped it," Whitner said. "We had words after that play. He told me 'I'm going to get that.' I said, 'OK, next time you come across there I got something for you.'

" I didn't try to hurt him or anything. It was a clean, legal hit," Whitner said. "Other teams will see that and see how physical we play and now they're going to be looking. So we're going to continue to play physical. I hope he's alright. They said he had movement in all his parts so that's good. I hope he's healthy and able to play next week or the following week. "

Just like former Browns safety Brian Russell got jacked up enough to hit Johnson in the chin and send him into La-La Land, Whitner knows there is a bounty on Johnson's head because of his mouth.

"When you get a chance to hit a guy that talks so much and everybody I had this week (said) please hit Chad Johnson, please hit Chad Johnson, and that's how everybody feels especially when you have a good player that talks so much," Whitner said.

One of the things that makes Johnson dangerous and exciting is he almost always avoids taking a shot. But Whitner showed why he's one of the emerging young defenders in the AFC.

"Guys like that, that are great players," Whitner said, "You rarely get a great hit on them because they're going see you out of the corner of their eye and they're going to get down and they're going to do something."

In the two games since Johnson has stepped out of the limelight because of the "selfish," criticism, he has a combined 98 yards after Sunday's season-low 48 yards on three catches and three big drops.

But friend and foe were happy to see Johnson is fine. Everybody likes this guy and it showed as both teams huddled near the stretcher and some of the Bengals coaches came off the sidelines. T.J. Houshmandzadeh accompanied him to the hospital.

"Any time a fan favorite goes down like that or anybody you want to show your support and hope that everything is okay," said Bengals cornerback Johnathan Joseph. "He's such a major asset to this team. We're losing the game and he goes down as we're trying to fight back."

Defensive end Bryan Robinson did think about Everett even though everyone saw Johnson move his legs on the field. Word filtered back into the locker room that he was up and around and going to get his neck CT scanned. Wide receiver Glenn Holt saw him in the X-Ray room near the locker room and reported he felt OK.

"We all love Chad to death; it's scary when that happens to anyone," Robinson said. "I know that happened with the tight end up here. That stuff starts coming into your mind and it puts everything into perspective.

"I talked to my wife about it," Robinson said. "It just brings you back down to what really matters. We get paid to do this. We make it important. (The media) makes it important. We need to do that, but when something like that happens, It brings you back down to earth. What's really important."

Wide receiver Chris Henry is eligible to return this Sunday, although Lewis wouldn't say it officially after the game. It figures in a year the Bengals have been so burdened by injuries that Henry would return in a game Johnson could be shelved.

"Chad is as good as any body we have on this team, as good as any player around," Palmer said. "Chris is going to have to come and really step in and fill his shoes."
Sorry Beotch but I guessed Chad was faking and it looks like I was right, if anyone is to blame for thinking Chad was playing drama queen its Chad because he is a drama queen, he had another horrible game and this may have been his way to atract some attention and downplay his bad play of late, it seemed so fake to me that I was looking for Vince McMahan at his side while he was being carted off.

I think you need to review the posts about the hits and then revise your little temper tantrum.

From what I've read, people here think that he should've been sitting down after that "faceplant" hit earlier in the game. Go back and watch the next two plays following that hit. Chad walks out 4 yards and stands there - no running, no blocking, not even trying to keep the CB away from the running play. He didn't know what day it was. He shouldn't have been in the game later on...

I agree with the people who are saying that he probably had a headache, was playing a poor game, dropped a game-changing pass that he usually catches, and wanted the game to be over. He took the easy way out. It seems odd to me that they would let Chad wait until 20 minutes after the game before going to the hospital if it was that serious. In my opinion, if you're hurt enough to call for an ambulance and to stop the game for 10 minutes, you shouldn't have the choice to wait in the lockerroom until your bff can ride in the ambulance with you.

I'm not a Chad hater - I like Chad and I hope he retires as a Bengal in 5 or so years - but what he did looks very suspicious and I think your kicking and screaming was WAY off base.

I'd agree it's childish, but I'm not sure that means it's "TU- HUH." Chad has exaggerated injuries before. He's also done his fare share of other pretty darned immature things. You can certainly make a logical case that says Chad got hurt, and got carted off the field. However, the other scenario is not really that unlikely. Chad's been having a bad season. He's dropping balls, not getting touchdowns, the local media portrays him as Pickens light, and the national media is calling him the #2 receiver on the Bengals. Put all that on Chad, with another bad game on his part, a winless game, and a second tough hit on a dropped ball. How is it so outrageous to think Chad would rather not get up? I don't think he meant to have the stadium on its feet, with ambulances driven onto the field. I think he wanted to just stay down, and then get helped off the field by a trainer. Unfortunately, with the Buffalo dude getting the neck injury this year, they pulled out all the stops at the possibility of another nightmare injury.

That's my take. I'm not a Chad hater, just someone who thinks he's human, and not always making the right decisions.
Chad apparently OK after violent shot

By Kevin Goheen
Post staff reporter

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - Chad Johnson has always taken pride in being able to avoid big hits from defensive mercenaries waiting for their chance at No. 85. He couldn't avoid Buffalo Bills safety Donte Whitner in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 33-21 loss.

Whitner caught Johnson with a hard shot as Johnson dove in an attempt to catch a pass from Carson Palmer at the Buffalo 38-yard line with 1:53 remaining. Whitner hit Johnson in the neck area with his shoulder, causing Johnson to remain face down on the AstroPlay synthetic turf.

Thankfully for Johnson, the effects of Whitner's hit looked worse than they actually were. He never lost consciousness and never lost any movement in his extremities. Johnson was taken off the field at Ralph Wilson Stadium on a stretcher after medical personnel attended to him for approximately 10 minutes. Johnson had X-rays of his neck taken at the stadium and was then transported to a Buffalo hospital to have a CT scan performed.

The scan of his neck checked out normal and Johnson was able to make it to the airport in time to catch the Bengals' charter flight home. Fellow wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh accompanied Johnson to the hospital.

"It's scary anytime you get a stretcher out on the field," said Palmer.

The two teams huddled around Johnson while he was being attended to, and Johnson received a standing ovation from the crowd when he left the field. It wasn't the first time the Bills and their fans had witnessed such a scene this season.

In a 15-14 loss against Denver on opening day, Bills tight end Kevin Everett suffered a cervical spine fracture while making a tackle on a kickoff. Everett suffered temporary paralysis but his condition continues to improve as he rehabilitates in his hometown of Houston.

"From our experiences the first week, we know what the Bengals are experiencing," said Buffalo safety George Wilson. "We got together and said a prayer on his behalf. We encouraged him as they took him off on the stretcher. This is such a violent game, and we forget how easy it is to get hurt. But our thoughts and prayers are with him."

Johnson caught three passes for 48 yards against the Bills. Before his injury, however, his most memorable moment in the game was one he'd like to forget.

The Bengals led 21-19 early in the fourth quarter and faced a third-and-8 play from their own 22-yard line. Johnson ran a deep in route and Palmer's throw to him was on the mark but Johnson let it go through his hands and off his chest. The play would have resulted in a first down at the least, and Johnson would have had an opportunity to break free from the Buffalo secondary for a potential touchdown.

Whitner was approaching Johnson on the play but had taken a poor tackling angle.

"I saw Chad looking at me. He wasn't looking at the football and that's probably why he dropped the ball," said Whitner. "I took a bad angle on that and luckily he dropped it. We had words after that play. He told me 'I'm going to get to that,' I said 'OK, next time you come across there I got something for you.'

"I didn't try to hurt him or anything. It was a clean, legal hit so I think other teams will see that and see how physical we play now and they're going to be looking."

The Bills not only contained Johnson but did the same to Houshmandzadeh, who came into the game leading the NFL with 58 receptions. Houshmandzadeh was held to four catches for 45 yards, although he did catch his 10th touchdown of the season on Cincinnati's opening drive of the game, a 15-yard throw from Palmer. Houshmandzadeh has caught at least one touchdown in every game this season and in 12 of the Bengals' last 14 games.

Whitner answers his teammates, knocks Chad Johnson out of game
Bengals receiver leaves the field on a stretcher after being sandwiched on a play in the fourth quarter.

By Chick Ludwig

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — All week long, Buffalo safety Donte Whitner kept hearing it from his teammates.

"Please hit Chad Johnson," Whitner said he was told.

So he did.

Whitner and linebacker Coy Wire sandwiched Johnson on a hard-hitting tackle with 1:53 to go, and the Bengals' wide receiver needed X-rays and a CAT scan before he boarded the team plane home.

"It's guys like (Johnson), who are great players, that you rarely get a great hit on because they see you out of the corner of their eye and they're going to get down," Whitner said. "So when you get a chance to hit a guy that talks so much, you do it.

"Everybody I talked to this week said, 'Please hit Chad Johnson.' That's how everybody feels, especially when you have a good player that talks so much."

The woofin' between Johnson and Whitner escalated with 13:05 to go when Johnson beat cornerback Jabari Greer on a slant pattern only to drop quarterback Carson Palmer's perfect pass in front of Whitner.

"I saw Chad looking at me and he wasn't looking at the football," Whitner said. "That's why he took a bad angle and, luckily, he dropped it. We had words after that play. He told me, 'I'm going to get that.' I said, 'OK, next time you come across there, I got something for you.' That's what happened.

"I didn't try to hurt him. It was a clean, legal hit. Other teams will see that and see how physical we play. We're going to continue to play physical.

"I hope he's all right. They said he had movement in all his parts, so that's good. I hope he's healthy and able to play next week (at Baltimore) or the following week (against Arizona)."

Johnson had three catches for 48 yards before he was taken off the field on a stretcher. Trainers, doctors and paramedics attended to Johnson while players and coaches from both teams encircled him.

"It's terrible," Palmer said. "You never like to see any teammate get carted off the field."

Added Wire: "We felt that same pain that (the Bengals) were feeling. Our team got together and said a prayer for him. We just hope he's OK."

He needs the surgery and it was a mistake to wait. He should have had it done right away. Maybe the team talked him into waiting until Henry got back. Its likely Chad has numbness in his hands at times. I do and I have bone spurs and debris as well plus wait till his muscles start to lock up on him. That's fun.

I saw his face on some plays. He was in pain during this game.
Bengals notebook: Chad Johnson gets a scare
Receiver carried off after hit, but tests come back negative
Monday, November 5, 2007 3:33 AM
By Bill Rabinowitz

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- For 10 minutes, Chad Johnson lay face down on the turf in Ralph Wilson Stadium.

His legs moved as he writhed in pain, so at least it was clear he wasn't paralyzed. But it was just as obvious something might be seriously wrong with the Bengals receiver after the hit by Buffalo Bills safety Donte Whitner and linebacker Coy Wire with 1:53 left in Cincinnati's 33-21 loss.

Finally, Johnson was placed on a stretcher and taken off the field.

"When I saw him in the X-ray room, I talked to him and he seemed to be fine," teammate Glenn Holt said. "He was moving everything. He just had a little sore neck."

After a CT scan in a Buffalo-area hospital came back normal, Johnson flew home with the team.

"It's always scary. Something like that happened here with a tight end," Bengals defensive end Bryan Robinson said, referring to Buffalo's Kevin Everett, who is recovering from a hit that left him temporarily paralyzed. "Those different thoughts start going through your mind.

"We love the hell out of Chad. He's our guy. This just brings you back down to earth, to what's really important."

Whitner, a former Ohio State standout, said Johnson's earlier drop of a potential touchdown catch led to the big hit.

"I saw Chad looking at me, and that's probably why he dropped the ball," Whitner said. "He had words after that play. He said, 'I'm going to get that (next time).' I said, 'OK, next time you come across there, I got something for you.'

"I didn't try to hurt him. It was a clean, legal hit. I hope he's healthy and able to play next week or the following week."

Receiver keeps streak alive
Receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh caught a 15-yard touchdown pass on Cincinnati's first possession to extend his streak of touchdown catches to eight games this season.

He had a quiet game overall with four catches for 45 yards as Buffalo did what most opponents have -- geared its pass defense toward him and Johnson.

No running game
Rudi Johnson made his return from a hamstring injury but gained only 11 yards on nine carries.

"They just came off the ball on defense," Johnson said. "They fired off and they made plays.

"Whatever we tried to do, they found a way to stop it. We never really established anything."

Kenny Watson didn't have much more success. He had only 11 yards on four carries.

Asked about the Bills' frequent use of eight defenders near the line of scrimmage, Watson replied, "It looked like it was 12 men up there."

Holt pays price
Holt became the first Bengals player since Brandon Bennett five years ago to return a kickoff for a touchdown, but he lost two teeth in the process.

During the celebration, Holt said, Dhani Jones jumped on him and jarred Holt's face mask into his mouth, chipping two of his front teeth.

thats about it. he relaly likes the sound of his own voice, no matter what it is, door sales, mcdonalds, shutters, radio, random insanity.
We had words after that play. He told me, 'I'm going to get that.' I said, 'OK, next time you come across there, I got something for you.' That's what happened.
It sounds like Lapham is right about this. Its a common injury to the disks. Plus we already know he has cervical bone spurs that need surgery. He's been dropping easy catches. Even wide open. Its likely he has some numbness to his hands and he should have had the surgery back when it happened. I wouldn't admit numbness to my coaches if I had it. Plus, the team needed him. Now Henry can take over and Chad can get the surgery and get healthy again.

My ex wife was a nurse. She thought I was faking a lower back injury (with nerve damage in my leg). So, she said she wanted to test me to see how bad it was. I stuck my foot over the bed and she probed me with a needle. No response but she kept at it. The next morning, I had blood all over the sheets of the bed from her needle probe the night before. The bottom of my foot had all these scabs from the different holes. I didn't feel a thing.
he was right, but he is still a douchebag..
I'm glad we agree on the second, but I still think its completely ridiculous to maintain he faked the injury and it was merely his "ego" that was "broken" in ShitStorm's words. I really am ashamed of a lot of people in this town who are trying to say he was sandbagging.
