PFT

I guess it's hard to look at his numbers last year while playing with Fitz and make a judgement, but dude is old and drops a lot of balls. Would he become another Coats?

Don't know, but the thing in that article is now it's not just an OchoCinco act as TO is playing along now.

I fuckin' hate TO.

But if it means getting this anemic offense to the point where we can compete... :russian:
I don't like him either, but dude has always been a helluva ballplayer. I remember that performance against the Patriots in the Superbowl against the Pats where he played with a fractured fibula and sprained ankle and had like 9 catches for 140 yards and a TD. The cause of that injury? Why, a horsecollar tackle by none other than Roy Williams!

So you see, it would bring TO full circle, in a karmic manner of speaking.

I can't speak to the level of insanity that Marvin Lewis would have to put up with though!

Fuck, I want TO and Coles along with Chad. That's a pretty damn productive group of wideouts if you ask me. You still draft a speedy, tall, downfield guy.
coles would be released if we took TO on. they won't pay both those salaries. i'd like to see them bring TO in. i'm not as concerned as many are about his age since he's not a normal 36 yr old.

I realize that this is the conventional wisdom, but we wouldn't have to do that if TO would sign a one year deal...with incentives...

This is a tough one for me. I really hate TO the drama queen. Even if he didn't act up in Buffalo, the previous 7 years were a disaster for every team that had him.

Buffalo had little national following last year when TO arrived. Few thought he would actually make a marginal passing team way better given the QB situation there.

We are not in the same situation. We have a former pro bowl QB in Carson and our own personality in Chad.

TO has a terrible history of dealing with "franchise" QBs and taking criticism or instructions from them. He has a knack for throwing every decent QB he has played with under a bus and becoming a media circus. One has to wonder how TO would react if we hit a rough spot given the expectations of the Bengals next year and the expectations with TO on the team. This is no different than the expectations at the Eagles when he arrived and the Cowboys.

He had about as good year at Buffalo receiving passes from Ryan Fitzpatrick as Chad did under the same circumstances last year. He is a talent and I still think he can perform, I just have that dreadful feeling in the pit of my stomach if he came here.

If he signed a one year deal? Ugghh, I would not want to make that decision.

The only QB that Owens has ever played with that I think was a really renowned team leader was McNabb. Could Carson be the unflappable leader that could tell TO to shut up, line up and play? Who knows? It seems TO has mellowed some with age. If having a season below his standards stats-wise because his QB was Fitzpatrick didn't cause him to blow up like this past season, then wouldn't playing on a team poised to make a run in the playoffs be a happier situation for him?

Plus Chad has promised to keep him under his wing, so its all good!

All good points. The move cannot hurt us, because we can release him if he throws a hissy-fit. Let's do whatever we can to win the AFCN and make a lot of noise in the playoffs this coming 2010 season.

The big difference is few thought TO would make much of a difference in Barfallo. There were no expectations.

He was expected to do great things at Philly and the Cowboys. He played great in Philly only to blame McNabb for the Superbowl loss and throw that team under the bus.

Pretty much the same story in Dallas.

The expectations would be high here given the situation.

The Chad comment was funny.

Thought of the Day: T.O. and Bengals
February, 8, 2010
By James Walker

In the past week, receiver Chad Ochocinco has played virtual general manager of the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Pro Bowler recently made several public overtures for the Bengals to sign fellow receiver Terrell Owens this offseason. Owens will be a free agent next month.

Therefore, in our latest version of "Thought of the Day" we ask our AFC North community whether Owens and the Bengals could actually work?

The Bengals struggled passing the ball last year and need another dangerous threat opposite Ochocinco. Can Owens fill that void with his playmaking ability?

What about chemistry issues? Owens proved to be problematic in the past. Would having him and Ochocinco in the same locker room be too much for a young team like the Bengals to handle?

Send your "Thought of the Day" comments on why Owens and the Bengals would or would not work below or to our AFC North inbox. We will run the best responses during the week.

i am starting to want TO to come here now. have Chad, TO, Jones, and the little dudes in Caldwell and Simpson.
Simpson is bigger than Chad.

I too am warming to the TO idea. He was pretty quiet in Buffalo, even with the media baiting him constantly. The only thing that would keep me from wanting it is that I wouldn't give him more than a 1yr deal, so we still need WR's of the future.
