What if Carson gets hurt the first game he comes in and the Raiders are back to square one lol what happens then?
Even more than that...what happens if he is just the Quitter of 2010?

Initially though, I figure he'll just be a McFadden hand-off machine.

Ken O'Brien on Sirius right now:

KO:
CP stuck to his guns and it's been a long haul
He is friend.
He is very healthy and throwing the ball really well.
There's a lot for him to learn but this isn't a short term solution.
His agility is good at his size.
It's going to be exciting.
Carson is really fired up to be playing football again.
He will have spring in his step.

I thought Carson Palmer was going to go down as the greatest qb in Bengals history. After watching Kitna/Frerotte he was a breath of fresh air. Nobody in the league through a better deep ball than Carson, he was just as accurate from 30 yards as he was from 3. But quitting on his team has left a sorry taste in my mouth that is going to take years to go away.

To think we are getting a first and second round pick for him at his age and injury history is a blessing.

I don't know why everyonne is still bashing CP about him quitting. He hasn't performed well here (recently) and he requested a trade. He could see what MB could not and that was they would be better off if they parted ways. I thank god for our team and the heart they are showing. We would not have the team we have now had CP not done what everyone already knew MB needed to do. And now as his final farewell in this trade he is given us an even brighter future to continue to build a young team. I have only one additional request, get us that second #1.
Thank you Carson for the good years it provided hope when there was none, leading us out of years of captivity almost to the point of not only accepting loss but expecting it. Thank you Carson for the playoff appearances and the exciting games as well as the hard years that followed. But most of all Carson thank you for doing something that none before you has been able to do. thank you for forcing MB to do the RIGHT thing. This Bengal team nor the future that I have renewed hope for would exist if you had not done what you did last offseason. Good Luck in Oakland and I hope to see you in the playoffs.

God forgives, The Brotherhood doesn't

In all reality the Raiders get a healthy well rested Carson Palmer that knows the system since he knows Hue! This is a really smart move on the Raiders and for us for sure.

I'm not going to be able to bring myself to root for Carson. I now officially dislike Oakland.

That is a sick picture though!!!

Yes, sois. Look at you.

Wow, this happy little thread went downhill in a hurry. Nuke it and start a new one on how we just got a free handy from Carson's wife?

I already said I am sorry I messed it up, I will not even wish an injury upon you. Sorry.

So have we got confirmation on the conditions for 2013?

I read somewhere that it will become a 1st only if they make the playoffs this year. Is that correct?
I read that it was just 2012 that it counted. Who knows?

Palmer trade makes Raiders a playoff team

The Carson Palmer trade to the Oakland Raiders does two things:

It makes the Raiders a true playoff contender and it shows that Bengals owner Mike Brown isn't as stubborn -- or as foolish -- as some might think.

When Jason Campbell went down, it made sense for the Raiders to make a move for a player like Palmer. They have so much speed, so much young talent, that just getting through the season with the Kyle Bollers of the world made no sense.

Palmer is legitimate. Some will say he's never won a playoff game. Some will say his arm isn't the same as before he hurt his elbow. I don't buy it. I've always been in Palmer's corner as a player. I didn't like his move to sit out -- but I guess it worked.

Irony of ironies: He wanted out of Cincinnati, which some think is a disheveled organization, and he lands with the one that is even more uncertain. Owner Al Davis recently passed away, so the Raiders are a ship without a real captain.

Palmer will join a team loaded with speed at the receiver position. Darrius Heyward-Bey is starting to live up this his billing. Jacoby Ford can fly. Rookie Denarius Moore is a player. Oh, and they have Darren McFadden.

Hue Jackson, an underrated offensive coach, will make this team explosive with Palmer.

As for the Bengals, they get two first-round picks. If Palmer is as good as I think he will be for the Raiders, they will be late-first picks. But the Bengals have a rookie quarterback in Andy Dalton who is playing well, so Palmer was expendable and the price was too good to pass up.

Even a stubborn Brown couldn't pass that up.

The trade is a win-win all the way around.

PS: I really like my pick of the Raiders to make the playoffs now.

They're going to go about 10-6 with him and they were going to go about 10-6 without him. He made the Bengals a playoff team twice. Oakland shouldn't be expecting miracles.

Those people need to get over it, he is no longer here.

Easier said than done when Carson starts talking about why he retired and this soap opera continues.

I'm not so sure he will go this way. I figure he'll just mouth the usual "that was a long time ago, and I'm looking forward to blah, blah, blah".

He might be a Quitter, but he has been fairly Ken Doll in media comments over the years. I don't see him becoming Charles Barkley all of a sudden.
