bengaled
If they do re-sign Nelson to go with Allen, Mays, Sands and Miles, it really addresses safety pretty nicely and moves it from the top of the needs list in the draft. That's a good thing, because it isn't really a strength other than Mark Barron. I see them using Allen as both a free safety and an inside corner.
not to mention, it forces the jets hand in the way they draft, where they happen to sit right in front of us.
oldschooler
Take this with a grain of salt, but I heard the Bengals have the better offer on the table and Nelson's Agent is trying to get the Jets to sweeten their offer.

It's another thing to go through that process - and then use our generosity to try to get more money yet. If that's true I can see MB, AKA Mr. Principle, not matching... They already know what Reggie's number is without his agent even saying it. All great negotiators do. The Jets might stumble and guess/overpay on this and sign him...but it won't be because MB isn't in the game. And I never blame a player for switching sides because of the loot. If he was trying to get the Jets to raise their offer, he would have gotten the best offer he could have while he was there. The Bengals likely have given him an offer and asked him to give them an opportunity to beat any offer he receives. And he is likely to do that, especially since the Bengals turned his career around.
