Steelers Week, Part Deux

The reality is the division was ours for the taking this year. Young team with plenty of speed, solid lines and more depth than either Baltimore or the Stealers. The cold hard fact is we lost games we had no business losing and well coached teams do NOT do that multiple times during the season, particularly at home. Sure, on any given Sunday is a fact of life in the NFL but we had no business losing to Cleveland, Miami and Dallas last weekend. We should have won at least one of those games and not found us in this spot of having to go to Pittspuke and win. Good teams don't drop more than one of these during the season and we did it 3 times. Baltimore and Pisspuke are not good teams this year. Age caught up with them and it should have been an easy move for us to the top of the division.

Young teams must learn to win. This isn't unique. All teams lose games they shouldn't but it happens less as teams gain experience. We may hot be ready to jump this hurdle the next two weeks but make no mistake, we have winning characters on this team that we didn't have in 2005. This team Will get better in the coming years.

This team is loaded with veterans. Other than WR and QB, most (not all) of our players have plenty of NFL experience. I also think that by the end of your second year as a starter, you should be playing like a VET as AJ certainly is and Andy is close enough.

Our head coach has 10 years of HC experience. Zimmer has 13 years as a DC.

Zeitler and Burfect are NOT playing like rookies.

Nahh, the young team thing would have been ok at the beginning of last year, not the end of this year.

This team isn't young? Maybe the D isn't but the offense sure as hell is.

Qb, wr1, wr2, WR3, wr4, lg, RG, c (with Robinson most the year), and fb are all guys in their 1st or second year. That's the majority of your offense.

Only vets on offense really are lt rt and RB. Te depends on what your definition of veteran is.

At the end of the day with a qb in his second year you have to expect the ebb and flow.

We can tie with the steelers and still get in if we beat the Ravens correct?

We'd be 9-6-1 steelers would be 8-7-1, so I seriously would take a fucking tie.
Correct but it would put us in another must win game against Baltimore. I hope we just take are of business and clinch a spot a week early.

Good stuff on Bengals Line. Herron said he never covered kicks until the NFL. It was also mentioned that Jim Anderson pushed hard for the team to draft Herron.

Dude has been GOLD on teams. He deflected one punt and almost blocked another in the Cowboys game and blocked his man into a punt block in the Philly game. I love it when the Bengals get production out of 7th round picks!

Not to mention he lit some guys up on coverage and blocking for returns.

Would also mean we could still take the division if I'm not mistaken. Ravens are not looking good.
I think we would have to win out and the Ravens lose out. But that isn't looking at all unlikely.

Ya think?

Interesting...this was one of the first plays to be reviewed while the event was still being decided. There was no "official"'call for several minutes after the alleged catch (the ball never touched Tatum--thus it was in actuality, an incomplete pass). Legend has it that the league--after being called by the head referee on the field--changed his original to-be-called incomplete pass to complete in order to protect the referees and Oakland players from mayhem at the hands of those civilized Stealer fans.

The Stealers and the NFL were cheating for each other even back in 1972.

Dalton is a 25 year old man with 30 NFL career starts. The young inexperienced guy thing don't fly anymore.

Yes it does matter. Compare his stats to other great QB's in their second year. He matches up well. To say he is properly experienced is wrong.
