I know he's signed an extension since but I still question if Sample would be on the team if they hadn't blown a 2nd round pick on him initially.  3 TD's in 5 years... Is his blocking really that exceptional? He is what he is, wouldn't they be better served by someone that can play the position?

Sample doesn't really deserve the contract he got this year. 3 years at a higher rate of pay than Gesicki. Crazy. Sample is an ok blocker, has ok hands, but isn't a route runner.

We could draft Tip Reiman in round 6 or 7 and get similar for rookie minimum.

Well, the league has never had any problems with rules that involve the "subjectivity of the call", now, has it? I'm confident that every official will see it the same way and call it the same way every play, every game, and that point spreads will, in no way, enter into the decision-making process.

Wrapping up and bringing down a runner is usually one of the cleanest tackles. Give the defenders a break. The onus is on the runner to gage just how well the defender has him wrapped up, and whether it's worth it to try and break the tackle.

Nice..

I look for that alot this year.

Good duo back there.

Question

Who's going to get the ball on 1st and goal at the 4?

 Is Moss that guy?

I think he is..

He's listed at 205 but he's played at 220 (223) so

he can hold the weight .

Hes slippery as well..

If the NFL could quit screwing around with goofball rule changes, they might eventually return to being a believable sport.

But they probably prefer the circus…

I dunno.  The newer/safer onside kickoff rules have basically made the thing impossible.  It works 3.2% of the time.   That said, what was proposed looks like something only Harvard and Yale could figure out.

The kickoff itself has become more ceremonial than anything.   I know it has reduced injuries but has also taken out an exciting part of the game. 78% of kickoffs are touchbacks now.

At least the NFL is thinking about ways to keep the game exciting.  Baseball sat on its hands for 40 years as “purists” refused to make any changes. This allowed the analytics types to basically turn “America’s Pastime” into a boring, drawn out,  long affair that has cratered in US popularity.   They finally made changes to speed up the game but they lost a lot of ground.

Better yet, the guy they have pinned their hopes to for more revenue (Ohtani) is about to get suspended for wiring millions of dollars to an illegal bookie in Cali.  Sportsbook and Casino style gambling is still illegal in Cali.

Baseball will always have to be baseball: they still have to pitch/hit/field. They can add all of the DH’s…pitch clocks…ghost runners they want, won’t change a thing about the game. If bored modern-era “fans” expect much more, then the sport was going to die here anyway. It will always live in Latin America and Japan.

Tweak too much more in the NFL/college, and the sport will (if it hasn’t become already) become the outdoor version of the Arena League. That also becomes boring after a while.

Hey…I still have my authentic Leaping Tiger era jersey. If it fits (hah) won’t have to pay Nike anything!

What I would do for one of those...I have a Reebok one and love the material and fit but it's the one with the white side panel.

Can you get leaping tiger ones through Koch's? I check ebay every once in a while but it is very rare someone is getting rid of one of those beauties

Koch’s was where I got mine back in the day. I would imagine they could make any style you would want—for a price.

My ‘69-era Bergey jersey was made at Koch’s—to the original material and specs as the originals. Cost quite a bit though—just be warned.
