Burton must be kept.  I think Woodside can challenge for backup if Browning does not improve.

Browning is on a 2 year deal. So the time to deal him is next off season, when you control him for another year. Then let Woodside be #2 after that.

I thought Woodside looked good with no Oline throwing to Tampa reserves.

 

Point being he's nowhere close to taking Jake's job.

Moss got sick last night, according to Zac Taylor. That's why he wasn't available.

 

Taylor also says CJones is week to week, which is the best possible outcome after getting carted off the field Thursday. No serious knee injury, thankfully.

My takeaways

 

Joe is Joe again, well be fine. 

WR depth is good, the #3 spot is going to be a rotation unless someone can show the coaches they should not be taken off the field.

This Oline STILL cant run block for shit, somehow that's probably Joe Mixon's fault.

2ndary is ok, not great, not bad, Dax and Newton had some plays

Tampa isn't that much of a running team, hard to tell if the D is going to be ok in that area yet

I like the young guys stepping up, Burton, Shaka, Woodside, Mimms ... I want to see that out of Jenkins soon

Robins had a frustrating punt but then was very solid, I dont think that battle has been won yet though.

The crazy thing is we could probably re-sign him to the practice squad…I doubt anyone would pick him up.  I’m super worried about the defense this year. I know it’s preseason game 1, no game plannning, etc…but it looked eerily similar to last year.  Can’t stop the run & giving up chunk plays in the running game and the passing game.  I hope Lou has some ticks up his sleeve.  A healthy Trey and Sam will help, but I’m a little worried.

From what I saw most of the running happened against our 2s and 3s. Too early to tell.
