- PI on Butler in the end zone, Refs fuck us twice.

Was definitely PI. Butler is smooth good route runner also he is better than Pryor and Lassiter and should at least be kept on the practice squad

I attended my first-ever preseason game tonight, and was surprised at the level of crowd enthusiasm from start to finish. Is this normal for a preseason game or was tonight an exception?

My experience with exhibition games has been that most attendees are non-season ticket holders. This may be the one game they attend in person…for the year, or ever. A lot of kids too,,, who are naturally excitable.

Last night was a beautiful weather evening. That helps. It’s not a thousand degrees or humid…helps with the mood. Usual first exhibition games are so miserable—weather and quality on field—that if there are people there by the 4th Quarter, it is surprising.

I used to go to exhibition games quite often, but haven’t been to one since the very early 2000’s. Living in Columbus doesn’t make the long drive and expense really worth it. Glad you had a great time.

I don’t put much stock in numbers accumulated vs. opposing teams’ backup players, many of whom won’t be playing football in September.

Well the stock you can put into it - they played well even though it was scrub time. If they fail in scrub time a la Cartman, there is no hope at all.

Gunter and the new DE (Jackson?) also showed well according to. Few reports.

My takeaways

Joe is Joe again, well be fine.

WR depth is good, the #3 spot is going to be a rotation unless someone can show the coaches they should not be taken off the field.

This Oline STILL cant run block for shit, somehow that's probably Joe Mixon's fault.

2ndary is ok, not great, not bad, Dax and Newton had some plays

Tampa isn't that much of a running team, hard to tell if the D is going to be ok in that area yet

I like the young guys stepping up, Burton, Shaka, Woodside, Mimms ... I want to see that out of Jenkins soon

Robins had a frustrating punt but then was very solid, I dont think that battle has been won yet though.

Cut Jackson Carman now.

Maybe we can unload Carman to the Texans and get a 7th round draft choice like we did that pant load Mixon.

Well Carman aint blocking for anyone run or pass, which at least makes him as useful as far as run blocking as the rest of this line.

A lot of the prognosticators locally have said they were pretty happy with the Lee pick. I'm ready to let him go with the 2's

Billy Price was 6'3.75" and 305 lbs.

32 inch arms (per Wiki)

Wonder how long Lee's arms are?

I think Lee replaces Hill but is not the long term

solution.  A place holder, if you will.

Nothing against him,  I think he will stick for awhile but not long term.

Matt Lee

6'3 5/8ths ... 301 lbs ... 32 1/8 arms

Here’s Lap’s analysis of the game. Other than Mims he wasn’t bowled over by the young OL play.

Interestingly, he cited Travis Bell as having a good game in the interior of the DL. They were missing a few backups there (Jackson, Davis, Tufele) as others have said, and they had some guys fresh off the street playing  too - but it sounds like Zach Carter and Jenkins didn’t play very well. 137 yards in the ground given up in a PS game isn’t good.

TBH I'd rather have one (or both!) of our DTs hit then a WR. Not complaining (much) but even without Burton we are in a very good place at receiver.

Lee's biggest problem is that he can only play one of the five OL positions. Very difficult for backup lineman to make the 53 man roster if they are center only. More likely if they were to keep 10 OL instead of only 9.
