Once again, were talking about draft picks.  So I'll toss in Iosivias or however you spell it!  lol

1 starter on defense taken 4th or later- Germaine Pratt

1 starter on offense taken 4th or later - Yoshi  (To hell with the spelling!)

1 starter on special teams taken 4th or later - McPherson

I'll even toss in ADG as an impact player on ST.

So that's 4 with 3 starters and an impact player on ST.

Of course I'd like to see the Bengals hit more impact players in the later rounds, but are other teams hitting at a much higher rate? Is there any way to measure compared to everyone else?

Only way I can think of is to actually go through the drafts and see.  That would take a shit load of time but could be done.

If I were to make a bet on it without going through all the research, I'd bet the Bengals were average at best and more than

likely towards the bottom though.

Hopefully this draft will help that average a lot because early signs are they expect some real players out of some of these day 2 draft picks.

I agree!  The combination of All and McClachlan have boosted the TE room to the best since Joe has been here in my opinion.

Mims and Jenkins are potential studs.  Burton looks to be a good pick.  Lee a possible replacement for Karras when his contract is up.

Jackson at NT.  Johnson on the edge is a decent back up who could develop.  Same with Anthony.

I think they've done very well in later rounds, definitely better than average. It's actually those first 2 rounds where they've had some pretty bad picks.

The 1-6 guys tend to make the team & contribute here. I haven't gone through the draft pick by pick for the last decade by any means & don't intend to, but I do follow it every year. Can't help but notice the names being called around the Bengals slot & those guys disappear into obscurity or even fail to make the cut out of training camp pretty often beyond the first 4 rounds.

Granted this is just my impression but it's made me wonder if the family/FO are more personally involved in the first round or two. Not hard to picture them kind of tuning out later in the draft & letting people that have actually earned their spot in the room make the "lesser" picks.

I was referring to starters or impact players in the later rounds. (Not depth),  IE: Rounds 4-7.

2 starters on offense - Volson (whose nothing to brag about), and Iosvias

1 starter on defense - Pratt

1 starter on ST - McPherson

I even tossed in ADG on ST as an impact player.

By later rounds I'm talking day three picks rounds 4-7.

Cam Taylor Britt was a 2nd rounder.

Logan Wilson was a 3rd.

Jordan Battle was a 3rd.

Sam Hubbard was a 3rd.

So you can say Pratt and McPherson are starters.

ADG is primarily a special teamer.

Chase brown had 44 carries for 179 yards and no TD's.

So 1 starter out of 11 on defense.  0 starters on offense and 1 starter on special teams.

ADG is a core ST’s player and captain

Chase Brown is a starter this year

Pratt was picked in the 3rd round. For teams we have a long snapper and punter who were undrafted rookie free agents.

Okay for some reason I though Pratt was 4th rounder.  Since he was a 3rd you can take him off the list as later rounds = rounds 4-7.

I'll give you the long snapper and punter.

Chase Brown is the backup to Moss.

Bengals 2024 depth chart.  https://www.bengals.com/team/depth-chart

Why does the depth chart Allways have Ossai backing Trey?

Johnson backs him with Murphy out.

Sir Joseph backs up Hubbard no?

My guess would be the RDE takes on the LT so you want the more experienced player, (Ossai vs. the rookie Johnson), backing up

Hendrickson with Murphy out and Johnson backing up Hubbard.

He’s really not though. Moss may be the “starter” but Brown is definitely gonna get starter reps. Should be pretty equal provided they both stay healthy actually.

Because the depth chart is pretty meaningless. The coaches have admitted this. They put one out because the NFL requires it. No other reason.

But they have every other player in proper positions ..

I'll agree with Randle P about a vet backing Trey than Johnson.

I believe you what you say as well.

Just get some chart out there to appease the NFL..

Is Moss role the griddy yards and Brown is the 3rd down back?

Or both the same?

The Athletic - Paul Dehner:

• How head coach Zac Taylor and offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher handle the running back rotation will be interesting. Inevitably, Zack Moss and Chase Brown will play a significant role and total touches end up in a 50-50 split. What is yet to be seen is if the split will go situationally with, for example, Moss handling third down and two-minute situations or more of a drive-by-drive breakdown.

Taylor said he isn’t looking to fill situational roles, necessarily. He’s concerned about showing tendencies with his personnel while admitting there are plays on the call sheet tagged to a specific running back.

This rotation could and likely will evolve as the season progresses, but for now, it sounds like Brown and Moss will both be doing a little bit of everything rather than falling into predetermined positions.
