Arkansas Bengal
Ja'Marr Chase is hoping to reach an agreement on a new deal ASAP. By Scotty White Aug 13, 2024 at 11:57 AM ET The Cincinnati Bengals have an interesting situation happening right now with wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase. The star wide receiver hasn't participated much in training camp and he is holding out for a new deal, but nothing has happened yet. The regular season isn't too far away as the Bengals will begin the season on September 8th against the New England Patriots. Chase wants a new deal, but ESPN's Adam Schefter is unsure if it will get done. Ja'Marr Chase signed a four-year, $30 million deal in 2021 and he has two years left on that deal. However, he is hoping to get more money as other top receivers in the league have recently signed huge contracts. For example, Chase's ex-LSU teammates Justin Jefferson has a 4-year, $140 million contract. Adam Schefter is unsure if this deal will get done, and he is unsure what Chase will do if it doesn't happen before the Bengals start the regular season. “The one again that just makes me wonder is the Bengals one right now,” Schefter said during The Adam Schefter Podcast. “And we’ll see if that’s valid or not, I don’t know that it is, but that’s the one that I’m curious about because he’s got a longer amount of time, because he’s got a team that’s seemingly, they could correct me if I’m wrong, seemingly less resistant to do an extension right now. And what does Ja’Marr Chase do if a deal is not in place in the coming days and weeks when the regular season is about to begin, we have not heard from him on that topic, he has not said anything. So it’s just something to monitor and keep in mind.” With the regular season less than a month away, the Bengals and Chase are clearly running out of time to figure this out. https://clutchpoints.com/bengals-news-jamarr-chase-gets-worrying-practice-update Ja'Marr Chase gets worrying Bengals practice update Ja'Marr Chase is M.I.A. for the Bengals. By Benjamin Adducchio Aug 13, 2024 at 4:09 PM ET Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase is causing a little bit of drama at the team's training camp. Chase wasn't at the team's practice Tuesday, per ESPN. Chase had been present at all Bengals' practices, even though he wasn't participating in activities. It wasn't immediately known Tuesday why Chase was not in attendance. The Bengals and their fans are certainly hoping there isn't a larger issue at play. The practice was reportedly geared for the special teams unit, per NBC Sports, and that may be why Chase was not there for it. Chase is seeking a new contract with the team, which has caused him to sit out practices during training camp. Chase finished the 2023 season with 1,216 yards receiving. He caught a total of 100 passes, including seven touchdowns. Bengals coach Zac Taylor has had conversations with the wide receiver, per NBC Sports. Taylor insists those conversations have been positive. Bengals fans are anxiously awaiting Chase's return to the team offense. The Bengals looking to reignite the offense The Bengals are hoping to use Chase even more in the passing game this upcoming season. Cincinnati lost quarterback Joe Burrow to injury in 2023, which dashed the squad's postseason hopes. Burrow is back on the field this NFL preseason, and threw a touchdown pass in the team's first game against Tampa Bay. Chase is certainly a target that Burrow would love to have back. The wide receiver posted 1,000-yard receiving seasons for the Bengals in each season he has been with the team. The wideout has 3,717 total receiving yards in the NFL, all with Cincinnati. He joined the team in 2021, after being selected fifth overall in the NFL Draft that year. He played in college at LSU football. It makes sense that Chase is hoping for a new contract. He not only has posted some strong statistics, but has also brought in a lot of accolades. Chase was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year during the 2021 season. He's made the Pro Bowl in every NFL season. With Chase on the field, the Bengals have made NFL playoff appearances in both the 2021 and 2022 campaigns. With Burrow hurt, the team finished 9-8 in 2023. The squad was the only AFC North team in 2023 to miss the postseason. The Bengals play their next preseason game on Saturday against the Chicago Bears. Bengals fans would love nothing more than to see Chase back on the field with the team in that contest. https://clutchpoints.com/bengals-news-jamarr-chase-gets-worrying-practice-update

I don't think so but the Blackburn women will sign him before season starts because they know,You know and I know without his talents on the field this team is not a contender. Feel like I need to repeat that Burrow is 3-1 in games without Chase. So long as JB's on the field they're a contender. Their main concern by far is keeping him there for an entire season. Ja'Marr can keep pouting about it AFAIC.
|BlackJesus|
The Bengals might be able to make the playoffs without Ja'Marr, but they aren't winning the Super Bowl without him. With him you can't look at total yards, but when he makes those key plays. In those 4th quarters when the game is on the line is when he shines best. Also against the top opponents (i.e. Chiefs) is when he rises to the occasion. Plus him being double teamed every play opens up the other WRs to do what they do. Duke and Katie need to get this extension done. The fans will not forgive them if they fuck this up. 2

The Bengals are 3-2 without Chase. Burrow has played well in those games. (99 rating) but without Chase they're not winning anything..

To me, he’s the most valuable player not named Burrow and changes the way defenses play against them. That said, I am still skeptical he will sit out regular season games and I could care less about him skipping training camp. Schefter basically said nothing in his comments other than it’s worth monitoring (no shit Sherlock). Besides, Schefter is basically a mouthpiece for agents or front offices depending on who is feeding him the info and him saying nothing definitive means he doesn’t know anything new. 1

They are already letting Tee walk, they can't possible even really think about not paying Ja'Marr now...Right? I know how they run shit and am used to it, but I am actually starting to worry a little. Ja'marr it too valuable to fuck with. 1

Sorry not sorry some other franchise is willing to wreck their salary cap for one WR. What happens if they cave to a new deal & the cap goes up another $20-30 mil? Someone else is going to get a bigger deal than him again eventually & then what? More pouting? This whole boo-hoo narrative where he is somehow a victim is ridiculous.
Arkansas Bengal
Training-camp roster bonus likely avoided Ja’Marr Chase holdout By Mike Florio Published August 14, 2024 01:06 PM For players who want new contracts, there’s an important threshold question. Hold out, or hold in? Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase opted to hold in. To show up, but to not practice. It avoided daily fines for not being there, under the CBA. If also avoided a much more significant financial consequence. Chase’s 2024 compensation comes in the form of a $1.055 million base salary and a $3.807 million training-camp roster bonus. The roster bonus was due on the third day of camp. If he hadn’t been there, he wouldn’t have earned it. While training-camp fines can be waived for players under their rookie deals, a roster bonus that isn’t earned is gone. For good. Without that, would Chase have held out? Given that he’s holding in, it’s not a reach to conclude that Chase wouldn’t have reported for camp if he didn’t have $3.8 million riding on being there by Day Three. As a result, the training-camp roster bonus is a two-edged sword for first-round rookies. It gives them the bulk of their fully-guaranteed pay for a given year early, reducing the impact of the offset obligation if/when he’s later released. But it requires them to be there. A holdout or any other absence squanders that money. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/training-camp-roster-bonus-likely-avoided-jamarr-chase-holdout

|High School Harry|
If/when the Bengals renegotiate his contract that still has two years on it, as I understand it, not only will they break the bank on two players but set an ugly as hell for the team precedent not only for the Bengals but league wide. Is he trying to force a trade to get Jefferson+ money? OR... now that it appears he got his training camp bonus for handing out towels will he sign the deal on the table shortly before opening day when they are installing the offense. Whatever... bad look for Ja'Marr in the eyes of his fans... like me.

Would it be good for him to get some reps in practice...sure. However: - Zac said he's not worried because he is a "freak" - Burrow said he'll only need a practice to get in sync with Ja'Marr What can ya do? 🤷 Highly doubt he sits out actual reg season games.
KA14_HOF
Not that it would ever happen, but on the off chance that Ja'Marr turns out to be mortal and, after not practicing like everybody else, on a crucial red zone 3rd down vs New England, he misreads the defense, causing Joe to throw an INT in a game we end up losing 19-17, who does Ja'Marr make the reimbursement check out to?
dex
For those waiting for a Chase extension to be announced, keep in mind that the front office is still having trouble getting McPherson - another extension priority - to sign an extension contract. The PLACE KICKER. No NFL team ever struggles to sign a PK to a extension...until now. Now imagine the difficulty in reaching a contract extension with a young elite player who happens to play WIDE RECEIVER in today's NFL marketplace.
