Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry should be too much for the Bengals offense to handle on Sunday.

The Baltimore Ravens have a chance to climb back into the driver's seat of the AFC North this weekend. Baltimore is 2-2 heading into Week 5 and they are just one game back from a division-leading Pittsburgh team. The Ravens have a crucial divisional matchup against the Bengals on Sunday that could have huge ramifications on the division.

If the Ravens can manage a win, they will be right up there with the Stealers in the division race. This would be the perfect antidote to starting 0-2. Meanwhile, if the Bengals win then Cincinnati will have made a huge stride forward. They would be tied with Baltimore at 2-3 and muddy the picture in the AFC North.

Those are two very different realities, which highlights how important this game is for both teams.

The Ravens will not have home-field advantage on Sunday, but they probably won't need it. They are set up well to cruise to another victory against a division foe in their own house.

Below are three Ravens bold predictions ahead of their Week 5 divisional matchup against the Bengals.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has his best statistical game of the season against Bengals

Lamar Jackson is having a good season through four games. However, he has not returned to his MVP form from 2019.

The Ravens are a good enough team that Jackson does not need to play like an MVP every single game. In fact, I'd argue that Baltimore's offense is designed in some ways to keep this from happening. The addition of Derrick Henry takes a lot of weight off of Lamar's shoulders.

That said, I believe it is time that Lamar Jackson had a truly elite performance in 2024. The Bengals' defense could be just the right opponent for this to happen against.

Cincinnati has a solid defense that can get the job done when the offense is playing complementary football. However, they cannot carry the team by themselves. In fact, the best performance they've had was in Week 1 where they still surrendered 16 points to a dreadful Patriots team. They have not faced a QB with the rushing ability of Lamar Jackson this season (because he's 1-of-1).

My prediction: Lamar Jackson has his best game of the season, setting a new season high in nearly every statistical category. For our purposes, let's say all-purpose yards and passing touchdowns. This should be manageable for Lamar. For context, Lamar would have to eclipse 395 all-purpose yards (his total from Week 1) and surpass two passing touchdowns (his total from Week 4). 300 passing yards and 100 rushing yards gets it done, lock it in.

Derrick Henry has a good game, but does not reach his Week 4 heights

Henry wasted no time making an impact in the game, rumbling for a 87-yard touchdown on Baltimore's first play from scrimmage. He finished with 24 carries for 199 yards and a touchdown, while also adding a touchdown through the air as well.

This was exactly the type of performance Ravens fans were hoping for out of Henry. It was also the nightmare that other NFL fanbases feared would happen if Henry signed with the Ravens in free agency.

Henry clearly has enough gas left in the tank to give opposing teams hell for the rest of the 2024 season. That is encouraging news for the Ravens.

Thankfully for the Bengals, I don't see Henry going nuclear against them like he did against the Bills on Sunday Night Football.

My prediction: Derrick Henry will have a good game on the ground against the Bengals. However, he will not live up to the ridiculous standard he set in Week 4. Let's say he puts in 100 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. That is a solid day's work for King Henry.

Ravens put away the Bengals in the fourth quarter, secure huge AFC North victory

The Ravens will be the road team on Sunday, but they are still the betting favorite to win this game. It is not hard to understand why.

Cincinnati has a good offense that can have great games, especially against a division rival. However, the offensive line is still a weakness no matter how many resources the Bengals pump into it. This leaves Cincinnati vulnerable to Baltimore's pass rush.

If the Ravens can short circuit the Bengals' offense, they might end up running away with this game. That said, I like the Bengals to keep this one close until the very end.

My prediction: the Bengals will throw the kitchen sink at the Ravens on Sunday, likely staying within one score into the fourth quarter. However, the Ravens are a better all-around team and will find a way to win this game. I'll go out on a limb and say they win with a long Justin Tucker field goal as time expires.

IDK how they deal with a 2-RB offense when they're only allowed to tackle one of them & aren't very good at tackling in the first place.

Need a huge game from these newly reactivated IR guys on the DL.

Below are three Bengals bold predictions ahead of their Week 5 divisional matchup against the Ravens.

1) The Ravens have some good players. So do the Bengals. Fuck those mothergrabbing Birds.

2) I like Edgar Allan Poe. I like the poem, too. But not this week. The Bengals will fricassee those mothergrabbing birds..

3) Joe Burrow appeared in a dream I had this week. He stared at me with those beady eyes and said: "Fuck the Ravens, In fact, fuck all birds, including ducks. Fuck Chesapeake Bay. Fuck Baltimore. Fuck the Wire. Fuck eating a bunch of nasty crabs. Fuck the Orioles, except for the spirit of Frank Robinson, who the Reds should never have traded." Then Burrow started throwing TDs with both arms, he was a whirlwind of whizzing spins. JaMarr and Tee showed up at this point. They were saying, "Pleeaasse, Joe, more touchdowns. Eight is Not Enough."

I like your optimism. I have a friend at work and he predicted Cincinnati 35-31.

I tend to expect the worst, and then hope that I am wrong…so with that in mind:

I have ZERO confidence in our defense’s ability to slow down the Ravens’ offense, so the outcome of the game will rest on the ability of our offense to score touchdowns on just about every possession.  Basically, just like what was  obvious early on in our game against the Commanders…and although our offense put up decent numbers, our failure to get TDs on a few drives kept us behind.

In their playoff game versus the Chiefs last season, the Ravens were far too focused on playing dirty and delivering pain to the KC players.  I fully expect the Ravens to revert back to that mentality on Sunday and for them to get away with a lot of cheap shots because we don’t have “KC” on our helmets.  I just hope that we don’t suffer any serious injuries from their head-hunting tactics.

I expect that Balt will see this as an opportunity for payback for those 400+ yard games that Joe had against them a couple years ago, and will keep pouring it on to the final whistle…to the tune of an embarrassing 42-17 thrashing of the men in stripes.

I certainly hope that I am wrong, and that Loudini has cooked up some defensive magic that stymies the Ravens’ offense.  It seems to me that if we had any ability to stop the run, we would have already seen glimpses of that ability.

Come on Bengals, prove me wrong!  I want to be wrong.  I look forward to “Go” replying to this post the day after the game and pointing out how stupid I was for thinking such thoughts about the home team.

If they win the toss, I would like to see them choose to receive for a change.

Would love to put points on the board, preferably  touchdown (duh) and go from there; not look back.

Yeah... be nice to get the second half kick off but if the Rats get the opening kickoff and score

even a field goal that would be a psychological kick in the gonads.

When do they have to declare that Murphy and Jackson eligible to play on Sunday and part of the roster? Can they wait till Sunday to announce that or does it have to be before then?

Even a Michelin Star level chef can’t produce a gourmet meal with shit ingredients.

Lou has had to work with what he has, which hasn’t been much. Starting a DT picked up off his couch is testament to that. Losing Reader hurt; badly, as did losing Murphy, Rankins, Hill and the 2 rookies along with Hubbard playing on one leg. Now Lou is going to get some of those ingredients he needs to make a proper meal, let’s see how it tastes when that’s the case.

People that talk about and write about this league have very short memories. They overhype teams that looked great the week before. The Ravens performance Sunday night, on national NBC TV, in front of their home crowd, has everyone gushing over them. They're not the '85 Bears, emotional letdowns are a real thing, and that version of them is not going to show up every week all season. It didn't show up in Week 2 against the Raiders, and I'm pretty sure they had Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson on their team that day, as well. I think the national talking heads and writers need to ease up on the Ravens admiration.

you made most of the points i was going to, i was so annoyed listening to the trash ass Growler podcast from this week, Pual Dehner Jr sucks, and was saying shit like "well they couldnt stop the run last week i dont see how they stop it this week" i dunno man, like 3 better palyers whose job is doing that may help, right? then proceeded to both guys predict the ravens rush for 200 yards.

yea the biggest issue with the "media" aka whomever they can get to do the job for the least money, dont know shit about football anymore, they just want and NEED to make content that gets clicks, like, i dunno "3 BOLD predictions" articles...  and most "fans" have even shorter memories, as we see them in here, calling to fire one of the best DC's on the planet who is playing with like 5 starters, apparently people think there are like 20 INCREDIBLE DC's who are just jobless and can work magic and miracles with bad backups and guys off the street, then fire the HC and offensive mind behind dragging the team to the superbowl with the worst oline in history and a top offense most every year. so i dont expect much from the media guys, articles, tweets, podcasts, etc. its all trash, i dont love Lapham, but he may be the only guy talking bengals who knows anything about football, Dan Hoard is good, just not a deep football guy directly, great media guy though.

the bengals and ravens have BOTH had odd seasons, flukes performances, and both came down to the last second against the Champs from KC in their house.. if all are healthy, this should be a close game, even vegas cant give the ravens a huge margin, STILL only a 2.5 point favorite, seems vegas views it as a shootout with baltimore coming out on top, so if the returning players can be a factor and slow down the ravens offense, could be enough to pull out the win.
