Was he the LBs coach?

Del Rio began his coaching career with the New Orleans Saints in 1997 as the Strength and Conditioning coach. In 1999, he accepted a position with the Baltimore Ravens as their linebackers coach. He is in part credited for the success of the Ravens' defense, particularly the 2000 Ravens' defense. After the 2001 season, he was named defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers. In his first season as defensive coordinator, he led them to the second best defense in the league that season.
In 2003, Del Rio became the second head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars following Tom Coughlin's dismissal.
Marty, Wade Phillips, Sherman, and Childress all interviewed (or to be)...nary a mention of Mike Zimmer:

If anything, he is listed as even more "seriously considered" in Miami:

Everything depends on what Fisher does, as he is their #1 choice.

hmm I had heard they moved on from Fisher as they knew he wasn't serious about them.

I thought Fisher was going to StL? IMO, they're not that far away, since they have a QB, a runner, some WRs coming back from injury plus Lloyd, a high draft pick, and some good young defenders.
I think that's where he'll land. It's said that he wants to go to a team with a young established QB. Indy and Miami don't offer that.

The Rams really dont either but they are certainly closer.
I think this year was a washout for Bradford, but I think he'll be back with a good year next year. He's very talented, but it's tough playing with a high ankle sprain and behind a makeshift OL where he was running for his life, and a decimated receiving corps (when he did play).

Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is at the top of that list for Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and General Manager Jeff Ireland as he interviewed today for Miami’s vacant head coaching position. He is the fifth candidate to interview for the job vacated by the firing of Tony Sparano on December 12th, following Joe Philbin, Jeff Fisher, Dave Toub and interim Head Coach Todd Bowles.
if he's at the top of the list, why did they interview 4 others first?
They REALLY wanted Fisher and probably thought they would get him. ESPN was reporting they would not be outbid for him, but it appears Fisher is going for the better situation as opposed to more money.

Hope somebody has called up JDR already.

Maybe because he was still coaching last week, and the others weren't (GB had a bye week).

I think Bowles deserves a shot... I thought Miami played a whole lot better in the 2nd half do the year, and the team played hard until the end.

I am more ok with him leaving then Gruden. I think we will get a comparable guy in Morris or Del Rio. I just hope he leaves soon. Zimmer's defenses were pretty vanilla and constantly gave up big plays. He was obviously pretty good but its not like he was reshapping the league with some sort of extraordinary new scheme. He was a mega upgrade from what we had before so obviously thats scary when you lose a guy like that but our Ds always gave up big plays to TEs and RBs, seemed to be reactive instead of proactive.

I think with our personnel he did a good job. I think we just have faith in some of our players that just don't deserve it.
