Redskins Week Notes

Recommended Posts

Losing Anderson is definitely a blow to the depth especially when its thin already, but it's not a backbreaker like losing Howard.

I'm no coach, but i think Evans could come in and do just as well in the rotation when Dunlap comes back (hopefully this week)

It seemed like Marvin was seriously debating playing Dunlap against CLV so i would assume, barring any setbacks, that he'll get back into the rotation this week. The added pressure will be nice, but the LB coverage on an open field RGIII has me nervous as hell.

The thing that sucks is the Redskins have opened the season with two close games on the road and now are coming home for their opener.

It always seems like no matter what the quality of the team, whenever a NFL team comes home from multi game road trip they are always loaded to explode.

A very big key, IMO, is surviving the first quarter. You might as well mark it down that they will have multiple explosive plays in the 1st quarter. We can't go 3 and out early with the offense.

That crowd is going to be pumped early to see their new FRANCHISE stud in his first real action at home. RG3 is gonna come out on fire.

Rookie Alfred Morris is their leading rusher.

Evan Royster got some playing time but hasn't done anything of signifance.

The DeAngelo joke, that made me laugh.

As someone said, home opener, that's alone should fire the team up. What the Skins kept doing on St. Louis was playing zone defense and St. Louis was picking it apart.

I wonder who is doing the fireworks for the game? There will be alot, particularly on the Redskins end. I just hope our offense continues to improve and has a good day. If not, this one could get out of hand early. I know Flacco is solid, but this will be by far the most physically gifted QB they have faced this(i know its only week 3) season. My point is, if Brandon Weeden took the top off this defense, i am expecting NOTHING less than total precision from RG III. I do expect Dalton to have a helluva day as well, so it should be interesting. Come on O!

I expect Hawkins to have a career day after watching the rams Slot wr catch 15 balls. The redskins may try to fix this fuckup, but they can't start shading coverage to Hawkins with AJ Green on the field.

ALso why the fuck aren't we doing more back shoulder high passes to Gresham more often? his catch vs CLE won us the game last week. Him lined up outside vs a 6' corner should be an automatic catch every time if Dalton throws it way up there where only gresham can get it.

definitely would like to see more backshoulder stuff to green and gresham like we saw last year in I think the Colts game.

Hopefully as the oline continues to gel we'll start seeing more shots deep.

Amendola is way better than Baby Hawk.

The regular fade and back shoulder fade are both by design.

That back shoulder throw is a bitch to throw, I am always impressed when I see it.

The regular fade is an easy one, I love that one.

When we play, we make it an adjustment pending what the cornerback does. If the WR does not have the corner of the end zone, we go back shoulder. It's fun to practice the back shoulder. Kinda of makes you feel like a pro. We've never successfully completed one in a game yet. Plenty of normal fades though...

BENGALS (1-1) AT REDSKINS (1-1)

Kickoff: 1 p.m. Sunday; FedEx Field.

TV: CBS (if sold out). Announcers are Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots.

Series: Tied 4-4 but Bengals have won two straight — 17-10 at Washington in 2004 and 20-13 at Paul Brown Stadium in ’08.

Bengals league rankings: Offense is 18th (tied for 16th rushing, 16th passing); Defense is 30th (19th rushing, 29th passing).

Redskins league rankings: Offense is 4th (4th rushing, 11th passing); Defense is 28th (10th rushing, tied for 30th passing).

REDSKINS TO WATCH

RG III: Robert Griffin III, who was the second overall pick in the draft, has completed 39 of 55 passes for 526 yards, three touchdowns, one interception and a passer rating of 111.6. Last week at St. Louis he was 20 of 29 passes for 206 yards with a touchdown and interception. He also had 11 carries for 82 yards and two touchdowns, which was the most by a Redskins quarterback since Joe Theismann rushed for 64 at Chicago on Nov. 9, 1980.

Alfred Morris: The sixth-round pick is the first Redskins running back to post 85-plus-yard games in Weeks 1-2 since Stephen Davis in 1999. After carrying a league-high 28 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns in the opener at New Orleans, he had 16 carries for 89 yards at St. Louis.

Take it away: The defense has forced three turnovers in each of the first two games, marking the first time the team has opened the year with two consecutive three-takeaway games since 1999. The defense though is coming in shorthanded after linebacker Brian Orakpo and defensive end Adam Carriker suffered season-ending injuries against the Rams.

KEY NUMBER

5: Consecutive wins by the Redskins in home openers. The team’s longest home opener winning streak is seven, set from 1967-73 at RFK Stadium.

Is it on Fox if it's not? It's a road game, it will be on in Cincy regardless.
