To be honest, Cleveland has some talent. Needs oline man. Garrett will be back. Still...
Le Tigre
Sure there is talent. However, working for Hairtigger Haslam does not equate to much longevity.

Le Tigre
That would be good for them, I guess. Reading where the Brownies are (for the umpteen millionth time) planning to contact Josh McDaniel after the playoffs/SB.

sparky151
Rivera is a good hire for DC. They have some talent there already so it might not take them long to get out of the NFCE basement.

sparky151
I don't know why any team would bring Marvin out of retirement to be their HC. Lots of younger, flashier assistants to give a chance to. Roman or Saleh will get more interviews than Marv.
BengalFanInTO
I'm not sure what makes people think Ron Rivera is such a great coach. He has three winning seasons in nine years. Not sure why he's considered so special.
|ArmyBengal|
Two comments: DC fired Allen, that's more significant than the HC. He's an absolute dipshit. Marvin will get a gig as a DC. Wouldn't surprise me if it was in D.C. I agree with the opinion that no owner would have ML as a top 3 choice. But stranger shit has happened, hello Zach. Yes, "just" 3 winning seasons, but they were biggies (12-4, 15-1, and 11-5,) with 2 divisional championship appearances and 1 Super Bowl. These are accomplishments no Bengals head coach in recent memory could even dream of. Plus he looks like a hard-ass...Mike Brown is in the habit of hiring wimps. To a Marvin critic, the many regular season wins are meaningless since they didn't bring a trophy. Are we meant to be impressed by 3 playoff wins in 9 years that ultimately resulted in getting his fudge packed in at a super bowl, but also didn't bring a trophy? Are playoff victories somehow a moral victory, but regular season victories are not? Somewhat arbitrary. His tenure is otherwise as barren as Marvin's. He WON several playoff games so he jumps ahead of Merv on that account. Not elite as he won no SB’s, but better than Merv.

Playoff appearances, and even more-so, playoff WINS are the happy ending to any season, without which the fan is left feeling unfulfilled. A Super Bowl appearance, with or without the win, will leave any fan melted on the floor with a shit-eatin' grin on his face.....the regular season is just foreplay. So, yeah, Ron Rivera has satisfied Carolina fans 4 out of 9 seasons, while Bengals coaches bring nothing but constant frustration and playoff interruptus. sparky151
Rivera has also been named NFL coach of the year twice. So he's held in respect around the league. He had success as DC with both the Bears and Chargers, then took the Panthers to the Superbowl. Comparing Taylor to Rivera is ridiculous.

sparky151
Yeah, but there are actually people here arguing we should keep Taylor, that there's no guarantee the next coach will be better than him. When we point out there are coaches available who have already had more career success than Taylor, they act like it would be impossible to get them here. Dallas will get their guy. Carolina, Cleveland, and NYG will hire someone. That leaves a lot of options for the Bengals but MB probably won't even consider making his team better with a new coach.
