Fair point and I agree.

I simply don't see the point with the whole Swiftie/Kelce junior high sweeties arc.

Just another distracting Game Day Experience bit of kayfabe that distracts from the

game on the field.

Wasn't it admitted by... someone... somewhere... that this is an attempt to get more women/girls into the sport?

I still remember Marvin and his "Football 101" classes that were I guess meant to teach women about football (which IIRC was a league initiative, not something Marvin came up with).  It's hard for me to picture Marvin sitting through such a thing when he pretty clearly hated the fans - but I would have loved to see Marvin's reaction if some sideline reporter asked him about Swift. 😆

I had not heard that but that makes 100% good sense.

Different demographic of fan, too.

Marvin's Football 101 was, I believe, sponsored by Tampex, a product of local Proctor and Gamble.

I remember when P&G sponsored baby races at halftime where the winner would get a years supply of Pampers. Could have been interesting to see what they would have come up with for Tampax :pursefight:

Nah Im with you. Its not about her "talent" (team of media managers + studio musicians + skinny white girl that can follow choreography = talent?) But sure, whatever. There's worse music.

What I find kind of silly is her posturing (marketing) as this pandering, edgy, progressive/nonconformist countercultural icon (think: defanged discount Madonna or Lady Gaga) while also being the girl next door pop star dating the football hero for Instagram. As you said, a poser.

Pick a lane, lady.

I thought it was a fund raiser for breast cancer research???

Because I always wanted to go.

Earliler this year, they hosted high school girls from 6 high schools, including my alma mater, for a flag football clinic.

Here's an old article I found regarding Football 101. Proceeds benefited the ML Community Fund but each year they would honor a breast cancer survivor at the event.

I was at Hard Rock Casino yesterday and put $50 on the Bengals to win.

Money where my heart is.

If I win, I am going to donate it to the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank.

Just FWIW and not any sort of nonsense pissing up the wall or anything like that.

Just making hoping to make it more of a win-win situation for the Bengals and one

of my favorite local charities.

Cincinnati (8-7) at Kansas City (9-6)

4:25 p.m. ET (CBS)

I never thought I'd say this about the Chiefs, but I think they're starting to implode. Not only have they lost four of their past six games, but they're just 1-3 in the month of December, which marks the first time in Patrick Mahomes' career that the Chiefs have had a losing record in the month of December. As a matter of fact, the Chiefs haven't had a losing record in December since 2013. The Chiefs are in their losing era.

Things have gotten so bad that there's a 40% chance that Mahomes is going to ask Andy Reid to cut the entire offensive line if they lose to the Bengals this week.

"But John, we see quarterbacks yell at their offensive linemen all the time, this isn't a big deal." OK, that's fair, but Travis Kelce is also melting down.

Kelce looks like he'd rather be at a Taylor Swift concert.

The entire offense is falling apart: The receivers can't get open, the offensive line can't protect Mahomes and the Chiefs running game is nearly non-existent (They're averaging just 70 yards per game on the ground over the past three weeks).

The Bengals are catching the Chiefs at the perfect time and although it might seem crazy to think they can win this game, the Bengals will be desperate and they almost always save their best performances for games against Kansas City. Since Zac Taylor took over as coach, the Bengals have faced the Chiefs four times and although the Chiefs have been favored in every single one of those games, the Bengals have gone 3-1.

It might seem like a lot to ask Jake Browning to outduel Mahomes, but as we saw in Week 16, you don't necessarily have to do that to beat the Chiefs. The Raiders didn't complete a SINGLE pass after the first quarter and they still managed to win.

The Bengals are 6-1 this season when they hold their opponent to 20 points or less and based on how the Chiefs are playing right now, it wouldn't be surprising at all if they do that on Sunday.

The pick: Bengals 23-20 over Chiefs

Cincinnati Bengals (+7) at Kansas City Chiefs

Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

The Chiefs have issues on offense, which they have to get fixed in the next two weeks before the playoffs. The Bengals are still alive, but barely. The Cincinnati defense had issues with Mason Rudolph at times last week, so maybe this will be a game to get Patrick Mahomes going. I think the Chiefs win, but the Bengals keep it close.

Pick: Chiefs 26, Bengals 23

Health first, mate.

Eh, I'm grounded.  Will have to enjoy the game from Casa de Amish.  Wish I could offer the ticket to someone else, but it's not mine to distribute.

I hope to get my travel privileges back in time for next weekend's game against CFT.

For the record:

- As tiring as it is to always see the predictable cutaway to the VIP booth whenever the Chefs do something commendable on the field, I get why the networks are doing this. They're catering (pandering?) to the demographic that wants to see it - teens and non-football chicks. They're taking the opportunity they've been gifted with and are running with it.  I don't doubt that a percentage of "Swifties" tune in to Chefs games specifically to see her.

- I don't mind her rooting for her boyfriend. If I were a Homosexual Man and had a boyfriend playing football, I would cheer like a junior high girl when he did something good, too.  Sure, she's in her 30s and it's not a great look, but when she's shown next to Mahomes' wife, even acting all sophomoric likes that still makes her look like the "adult in the room."

- I have to admit, until recently I had no idea who she was.  I even saw those Capital One commercials where some girl picks out a cardigan sweater and didn't have a clue that that was a pop culture reference.  Now, thanks to the NFL, there's no doubt that I know who she is.  So add her own marketing to that done by the NFL and the networks, and it seems like there's no segment of the population left out of the equation.  If someone like me now knows who Taylor Swift is on sight, how many non-football TV viewers now know who the Chefs (and their opponents) also are in sight?  More exposure equals more fans equals more revenue equals higher salary cap numbers.

No, I don't get all "swoony" when they show her on TV, and I cringe when I see things like that handshake thing she did with Mrs Mahomes, but at least I know it's coming.

I'm waiting for someone to suggest a drinking game where every time she is shown, mentioned, referred to during the game

a person has to shoot a shot of Old Taylor whiskey.  The winner is the first one to die of alcohol poisoning some time in the

first half.

New Year's Eve would be a good time to do that.

The Bengals will wear white jerseys and pants with black socks and black stripes on the road in Kansas City, topping it all off with the traditional orange helmet.

Interestingly, though, the Bengals haven’t fared too well in this one lately. According to Pro Football Network’s Jay Morrison, the Bengals have lost four straight in that combo — three this year and during last year’s AFC title game against these same Chiefs.

Guilty confession... gotta admit, I don't like this.  I really am superstitious.

And as an afterthought... I take full responsibility for the Pittsburgh loss because

I did not use my traditional good luck Bengals coffee mug that day.

I outta be shot.

I am the same. I thought they should have stuck with this all white combination in the Super Bowl. When I learned they were wearing black jerseys and Nemo pants, I turned to my son and said "They just chose to not win this thing."

Despite the recent losses, I love this look. It's their best, along with the black over black. Would love the black over white if they'd fix the pants stripe to include both black and orange.
