He was OK... not great. I actually thought Volson, after a bad start, picked up his game considerably in the latter half. Both guys need to play better, but yeah, Brown wasn't any great shakes. Certainly not to the level where he was hyped to be. He was about average. Not a liability, but not an elite player, either. At his best, I think he's very solid/above average... maybe top 12-15-ish in the league at LT.2 points

He didn't make the probowl because he wasn't blocking for Kermit. But he was still better than Jonah from the prior year.2 points

He's managed one full season in the past 5 years. Based on his average availability it works out to about half a mil per start. Until I know who will be playing RT the 2nd half of the season I'm gonna have to pump the brakes on all that backslapping just a bit.2 points

I don't care if he was conceived at the 50-yard line at Three Rivers Stadium and raised in an apartment at Heinz Field, next door the Stealers locker room. As a member of the Bengals family, you do not associate with or wear the colors of that franchise, much less take actions to help them win games. I will forever be pissed at one of my all time favorite players for this (Ken Anderson).2 points

IMO just seems like a position can CANNOT be weak at, so letting Dax learn is gonna ahve to come in blowouts and spot work, i can specifically remember 2-3 games where we needed one stop to get the ball back with a chance and gave up the play due to a CB or Safety shitting the bed (mainly cheeto) so the depth is great in case on injury and the talent boost is great. sucks for Dax's career trajectory, but we need to get a ring ASAP, so no hard feelings but no time for that right now.2 points

That would be a great game to watch for the almost 10% of the population with red/green color blindness...not the mention the players with it.1 point

Baltimore bridge must have thought it was the playoffs and collapsed ...1 point

I haven't checked it in detail but isn't it still a free kick with a live ball that can be recovered by the kicking team? If the kicker puts the kickoff short of the goal line, once the ball hits the ground, it belongs to whoever can get to it, right?1 point

The rule change only allows review of the game clock, not the play clock. So it can check whether a snap occurred before a quarter ended or not. But not whether a delay of game penalty should have been called or not.1 point

OK... back to this topic of games on Christmas Wednesday... If the Bengals played at home would you go? If the Bengals play away would you watch? Put me down for "yes" on both counts but my situation is a lot easier than most people. Still seems like it would whizz off a lot of people no matter what they chose.1 point

At the senior bowl Walker needed to show he did not drop easy catches..and he did not. Sounds like he has stone hands to use the hockey term.1 point

I would not be surprised if they do, it's the toughest division in the league, makes for the most drama.1 point

That should not be the case this year if the Reds get decent pitching they can win their division1 point

Saw on X - Mina Kimes and Greg McElroy did one... they gave AD Mitchell (former UGA, then Texas) WR to them... McElroy said he's Tee Higgins (but he runs better). Helluva player, no doubt... but to me, you've got issues at DT and OT and there are other WRs (and some Ts) to be had later... but especially at DT, if Murphy is there, that's who I'm taking.1 point

That is a nice illustration. The “no fair catch” is a bit disingenuous for “player safety”, as in the unlikely event a kick goes deep enough, and the coverage team flies like Flash down the field after release from the DMZ, the returner could still be blown up if he catches it. Looks like the kicking teams are going to have to decide whether to gamble on shorter kicks and risk getting the ball on the 40, or gamble they can blast the ball out of the endzone and keep it to the 30.1 point

How many Super Soakers does the receiving team get to use? I do like the new rule that you can have your practice squad QB suit up on Gameday but it will be interesting to see how that works from a pay and vesting perspective.1 point

I don't think anybody can move besides the kicker and a maximum of two returners...NFL operations posted a decent video explanation on X, I'm more of a visual guy myself1 point

Unfortunately, there is truth to your opinion. People marvel at his size but that catches up with you like it seems to already have with him. Whit played at 6-7 325 most of his career. He had exceptionally quick feet for a tackle.1 point

This is more oddball than trying to sink a putt through the windmill at putt-putt. “”Landing zones”? “Set up zones”? https://operations.nfl.com/updates/football-ops/nfl-kickoff-rule-proposal/1 point

Probably the smart move when your draft room is one big bowl of questionable coleslaw away from also serving as your family reunion.1 point

Was anyone really impressed with OB Jr last year? For all the yap he seemed pretty average to me. I guess the party line is to blame Volson but I'm not convinced. Maybe its those "wide zone concepts" that seem to mean shuffling your feet while looking confused & not actually blocking anyone.1 point

I despise how so many NFL teams changed out their bright blue for the same bland dark navy blue that many teams have now. Eagles did the same with their Kelly green. Brighter colors almost always look better.1 point
-
The main effect of the new kickoff rule is that nobody moves until the ball touches a player or the ground. If the return team can sustain a block for a couple of seconds, there's a good chance of big returns. A slippery kickoff returner like Cordarelle Patterson or Kadarius Toney will be more valuable.1 point

There are always some good athletes to be found at lower division schools. But we're a long ways from Kenny Anderson of Augustana. I'm generally in favor of using at least picks in rounds 1-5 for FBS guys, mostly from the power 5. They're easier to evaluate as at least a few of their games each year they'll face future NFL opponents. The OT from Northern Michigan who blew up the RAS last year hasn't been heard from in the NFL.1 point

Murphy and Newton are 3Ts and we have a pair of them already. There aren't any NTs worthy of day 1 selection. Sweat is probably the only one for day 2, unless you want Jenkins at NT at 300 lbs. There are several who will go on day 3.1 point
-
If he's traded, it doesn't have to be for a draft pick. It could be for another player such as Derrick Brown or Dexter Lawrence. They are top NTs who play for teams without much at WR.1 point
-
Good points... Was for trading him for a very early 2nd but you changed that as we do need him for a SB run this year1 point
