All the chains suck... If I have to I will eat Gold Star because I think skyline is too bland...

But if you want real Cincinnati Chili you have to go to Camp Washinton... That place kicks all others ass...

I worked at a Skyline YEARS ago... They don't even make that shit there. The chili comes in a huge plastic bag... One huge freeze dried chili log.... They then dump the log into this huge couldren, fill it with sink water and let it boil a while...

Yeeeshh!

Camp Washington actually makes thier chili at the parlor.. They even grind thier own chuck to put in it..

It's meaty and spicy,,, Fuck the watered down freeze dried bullshit!
Camp Washington:
open 24 hours
pools of grease in chili
wierd thick noodles
no Tabasco sauce
no drink refills

For all of you out of towners... You can order Skyline, packed in dry ice, to be shipped to your place of residence here......

I'm not sure if they will ship to Japan or not Mully...

Those who eat Gold Star are allowed to participate in the Special Olympics.

I guess I'm a Gold Star fan because there was a Gold Star near my house and we always ate there. To get to Skyline back then we would have had to have driven all the way down to Newport. I lived way out in the county in Alexandria, Kentucky (Campbell County) There's always been a Gold Star right there in Alexandria. To be totally honest, Gold Star would be my first choice if the shops were next to each other but I really don't give a fuck either way. It's *ALL* good! If I'm in Newport there is a Gold Star and a Skyline right across from each other. I would go to the one that is most convenient for me to turn into. If I had to wait to cross traffic the other one loses. Simple as that. Last year when I was home I ate Gold Star, Skyline, Dixie, and Empress. They all fucking rule that's all there is to it.

I live in the land of no Cincy chili. Beggars can't be choosers.

The first chili I tasted when I moved here to Cincy was Gold Star. Then I tasted Skyline. We told the manager dude at the Gold Star that we would come back and tell him which one we liked more. And us, being unbiased, and not yet brainwashed by the shitty ass Skyline company, picked the right choice, and we told the Gold Star guy that his was better, and ordered some more of their goddamn delicious coneys.

Gold Star >>> Skyline.

You fuckers.

I've been in Vegas for 8 years, and the only Bengals bar in town (which also served Skyline) went under in 2001 (wonder why, since I was one of only 3 fucking people in the bar on game day. Damn you Mike Brown), so I haven't had Skyline in years.

After reading this thread, I went to the website, ordered 12 cans, then called and begged to have them shipped overnight.

I think when it arrives I'll bathe in it.

Now if they'd open a fucking White Castle or Waffle House out here I'd be set...

Eveybody sing along,

"Whenever you're feeling good and hungry, that's Skyline time.
Gather together with friends and family, that's Skyline time.
Wholesome hearty goodness with a taste that's so devine,
Together at last that's Skyline time."

They just opened a Skyline in BG a few years back and I love it. I grew up in Cincy so I would always be getting these cravings and the best I could do was the stuff from the freezer isle, you know with the mushy noodles, but luckily these Michigan loving weirdos up here like it well enogh to keep it open, though many of them only go for the chili fries.

Gold Star will always be second fiddle as far as I'm concerned though their nachos are damn good.

So I tried this the other night, and I have to say that it was better than I thought it would be. My wife even like it. Some of the ingredients seemed a little screwed up, but it was good. I'm not sure that it is something I would ever get addicted to, I could see making it once or twice a year. I just prefer my chili in general...but I only make that 3-5 times a year.
