Its kinda like the same way notre dame is in the top 25 every year. OSU and ND havent beaten a good ranked team in who knows how long, yet they are still ranked preseason almost every year. Easy to make bcs bowls when you start ranked in the top 10 every year and have a max of 2 games a season that are tough.
I was under the impression (not a huge NCAA follower so clue me in if I'm wrong here) the preseason rankings don't really matter, and that bowl worthiness was based off a points system, which among other things takes into account strength of opposition.

What exactly is inbred that you guys are speaking of? Do you mean just trashy people or do you really think these people are banging their relatives?

Unfortunately, since you're from there then you get lumped into that too.

Look, I can totally understand Jordan's love for his team. I can respect it 100% too. But as I said, he's in a position now where he needs to be a little choosier with his words. He is a Cincinnati Bengal now. He doesn't need to profess his love for OSU or any other team that he grew up hating. But he sure as hell doesn't need to be going around talking about how irritating the OSU fans are and how boring Ohio is. Doesn't bother me one bit if he goes on air and says USC is going to win or that USC is going to kick OSU's ass. The problem is the shot at the fans and the state. He shouldn't do that.

How old are you, 2? Some people are so blinded by hate they can't remember that the 2006 Buckeyes beat two #2 ranked teams. Hate on them for getting blown out vs Florida and USC, but don't make up stupid shit just because you're an ignorant dumb ass.

WhatjewtawkinboutWillis? Bengals have PLENTY of crazy loyal fans. What we learn from Stealer fans, Yankee fans, Red Wing fans, Trojan fans is that it is EASY to be a crazy fan of a perennial winner franchise. It takes no emotional fortitude whatsoever.

Pretty much 90% of the people who post on these various boards are the crazy type you speak of. We live and die with this team just like those other boneheads, we just die more and keep coming back for more. I'd like to see how many fans bleed black and gold if their team hits the shit hole for 20 years. Would there be 47 straight sell outs after all those years of futility? I sincerely doubt it. There are no better fans than Bengals fans or Clipper fans or the best of the best....Cubs fans.

We don't need more fans crazy about their team. We have enough to fill a stadium for the past 4 years straight.

Exactly, I'm proud to be a Bengals fan. It's easy to pick the Yankees, Stealers, and Lakers to root for as a kid, but to root for and die for the Bengals year in and year out shows the kind of moxy that most fans can only dream about. Our faith is a strong one.

I keep hearing people from California talk about how racist Cincinnati is, like that BART shooting in Oakland back in January never happened. Or the '92 LA riots, for that matter. I mean the one here resulted in a couple of tipped-over hot dog carts and some broken windows. LA on the other hand got torched.

Personally, I love Ohio State and the State of Ohio.

I have been gone for 6 years and I still get homesick.

Oh, and there's isn't a lot of assholes where I live.
But that is mostly because there isn't a lot of people.

I see more cows, (or are those women?) on a daily basis than I do people.

I live in the worst place. So I win.

Wait, I guess that would mean I lose . . .

I live in Arkansas...do I need to even say anything else?

So I think I win (lose).

Bengals chime in on USC-OSU
By John Erardi • jerardi@enquirer.com • September 11, 2009

There won't be any Ohio State vs. USC bets within the Bengals locker room this year – former Southern Cal quarterback Carson Palmer can't find anybody to take his action – but there will still be four Bengals/ex-Trojans glued to the TV set when the "Big Game" kicks off at "The Horseshoe" in Columbus at 8 p.m. Saturday.

"There's no Ohio State guys in the locker room, and I don't think anybody around town wants to bet me," said Palmer, the Bengals quarterback. "I do have a neighbor that's got an Ohio State flag waving outside their house, but I don't have any bets yet."

Flying a flag is one thing; putting some money on it is something else. There will be plenty of the former going on at Ohio Stadium Saturday, probably not so much of the latter.

"We've got a few Trojans here," said Bengals rookie linebacker and USC alum Rey Maualuga, pointing to Palmer, Frostee Rucker and Keith Rivers, "and we could talk trash in (this) locker room, but nobody else would care."

Last year, Palmer accurately predicted a blowout (35-3) when the Buckeyes played at Southern Cal, but the golden boy wasn't calling a margin for today's game.

"This year's a little tougher to judge," he said, "especially because of the way Navy played (the Buckeyes) last week (in Columbus, almost beating them). With a rookie at quarterback (for USC), it's always tough to gauge a game like this.

"But when you've got Terrelle Pryor (as OSU does at QB), you're always in a game," Palmer added. "He showed that last year (in the Buckeyes' bowl game)… He just took over the game. So it's a tough call, but I still think my boys are going to take care of business."

Maualuga had a college career highlight in last year's game against OSU. He had an interception and 48-yard runback for a touchdown.

"All I heard was the screaming," he said. "Nothing really kicked in until I was sitting on the sidelines. The other great moment was coming off that field victorious."

He predicted a "great game (today) between two great teams."

"This is a game I wished I could have gone to, but we'll be glued to the TV come (Saturday)," Maualuga said "We've got a meeting at 7:30, but will probably be done by 8:30. We'll definitely catch it."

Rivers said he knows some Trojans fans from California who are coming in for a combo weekend that includes the USC game in Columbus and the "USC alumni game" (Palmer, Rucker, Rivers, and Maualuga) at Paul Brown Stadium between the Bengals and Broncos.

"No predictions," Rivers said.

Rucker added: "Once a Trojan, always a Trojan."

"We're here representing them (USC)," he said, noting that he didn't get to play Ohio State while he was in college.

"Carson and I have been out here for awhile," said Rucker, "but the younger guys (Maualuga and Rivers) are fresh and newly out and they still know guys on the team."

That makes it a little more fun and a more intense rooting experience for Rivers and Maualuga, Rucker said.

"I don't know any (of the players)," Rucker said, "but I root for them and I keep up online with who's who."

I'm really surprised at all the Ohio basing from people living here. OF course, I live a bit north of Cincy so I may not have the same perspective as the rest of you. From where I live I can get to Cleveland (don't know why I'd go there though) and Cincinnati. columbus is an hour away. Ft. Wayne and Detroit about 2 1/2 hours. Ohio has 2 1/2 Pro Football teams (I'd imagine some OSU players have been well paid :) ), a basketball team, a hockey team, and 2 baseball teams plus last seasons MLS champs if you are a soccer fan. If the arts are your thing, I'm certain you can find what you are looking for in one of the three major cities (and even some of the smaller ones). Gambling, for most it is well within driving distance with casinos in West Virginia, Indiana and Michigan plus there are multiple horse tracks in the state. Add in cedar Point and Kings Island, two of the better amusement parks in the country and I'd say there is a fair amount of stuff to do around here. Of course, I spent 9 years living in Georgia and it never felt like home like it does here. Sure the whether was better but that was one of the few pluses I found. Sure Ohio may not be like LA, San Fran, New York, Chicago, or Atlanta but it's not nearly as bad as you might think.

As for the buckeyes, though I don't have a degree from there. I did that a few classes through them, but not for the purpose of the degree. Bash on it all you like about people liking the team and not going to school there, but is that really any different then anywhere else? Really, lots of people root for schools they didn't go to kind of like Michigan fans in Ohio. Shot, I have never lived in Cincinnati so should I really be a Bengal fan? Sure, there are plenty of idiot Buckeye fans, and I might even be one of them, but I don't root for them any more passionately then I do the Bengals. Actually, I probably don't root as hard for them.

The whole state of California fucking blows.

Sure there's nice places to visit, and we go there a couple of times a year to visit friends, but every time we leave we always look at each other and go "Why the fuck would anyone want to live here?"
Do you really believe California blows? child please. Cali got everything you could ask for, and shit you dont care for. but there is a reason 40 million people live in the state. Beaches ,mountains, hollywood, hot chicks, and its going to be about 85 degrees today. Dont care about Ohio St. or USC, I just care about the Bengals

Didnt even score a td against a ranked team last year and their stupid fans still talk shit like theyre relevant.
what about the 2 TDs they scored against #3 texas, dummy? i suppose for every stupid buckeye fan there's a stupid hater, and you're obviously one of them. get you facts straight before you come on here posting such bullshit, hater.

if the buckeyes had just milked the clock on their last drive and kicked a FG, instead of scoring that last TD, they would have won that game. they had that game in the bag. so yeah, i'd say that showed some degree of relevance. ohio state was AGAIN one of the top teams in the country at the end of the year, and 16 seconds and a blown coverage away from beating a helluva good texas team (with their star TB beanie wells sidelined much of the 2nd half with a head injury). if you can't recognize that, it speaks for itself!

Yeah, but I don't care for your 10%+ sales tax, the obnoxious income tax, the smog that obscures the mountains, and the horrific traffic.

That's why I live close enough to pop in and out to see the nice things, but no way in hell I'd want to live there.

And it's only 35 million.
