It's almost like it's done on purpose.

Not only did the QB demand trade that I will not consider, you just lost your chance for any offensive staff changes Mister. Now go to your room and no TV!

Is MB really this stupid??

Is he purposely trying to blow up the organization?

I have to be honest... Al Davis is looking like an upgrade at this point!

Shit why? He has the greatest job in the world, suck complete ass and there's no consequences. He's laughing all the way to the bank.

Bengals say they rejected Palmer's trade request
Posted on: January 24, 2011
[i]Posted by Andy Benoit

Carson Palmer, frustrated with the state of affairs in Cincinnati, is reportedly threatening to retire if the Bengals don't trade him. Well, Palmer had better start looking into country club memberships in Arizona or Florida. Or start denying that he ever requested a trade.

Bengals owner Mike Brown said, via the team's Twitter account, "We are not trading Carson." Brown, for some reason, also said that Palmer did indeed request a trade last week. (This will make it much tougher for Palmer to deny his trade desires.)

So what the Bengals have is an overpaid quarterback whom they've publicly acknowledged does not want to be there. Palmer, unlike Chad Ochocinco, did the organization a favor by keeping his request quiet. The organization repaid him by publicly rejecting his request.

Carson: I'd like to see some organizational changes this off-season; more specifically we need fresh blood with the offensive play calling.

Mike Brown: No.

Carson: Then I'd have to ask that you explore trade options for me this off-season.

Mike Brown: No.

Mike Brown says Bengals won’t trade Carson Palmer
Posted by Mike Florio on January 24, 2011, 11:21 AM EST

We’ll it’s official. Bengals owner Mike Brown has confirmed that quarterback Carson Palmer has requested a trade.

And Brown says he declined.

“We are not trading Carson,” Brown said, in a quote posted by the team on Twitter.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that Palmer wants out, and that he’ll possibly retire if he’s not traded.

Since all of Palmer’s signing bonus money has been counted toward years he has played under his current deal, which runs through 2014, Palmer could retire without having to forfeit to the Bengals any money that he previously has received.

That said, he’d also be giving up nearly $50 million in future salaries, assuming that the Bengals keep him for each of the next four years.

Palmer turned 31 on December 27, 2010, and he presumably has at least another five years left, if he chooses to keep playing.

Carson knows where all the bodies are buried. He knows all of the in-game mistakes by Bratkowski. It would make one great tell-all book should he retire.

Isnt it gratifying to be a bengals fan? I could never root for another team and that is the thing I hate the most, or I hate on equal level with Mike Brown.

When do the Reds open the season?

Bengals turn down Palmer trade request; No Cincy Chilly
By GEOFF HOBSON

Posted 4 minutes ago

MOBILE, Ala. _ Bengals president Mike Brown confirmed Monday that quarterback Carson Palmer met with him last week and requested a trade and that he turned him down.

"Carson is central to what we do. We have no plans to trade him," Brown said here at the Senior Bowl. "We are not taking offers."

Brown was surprised to hear that Palmer would contemplate retirement if not traded and he indicated he thought that was not a very real possibility. Brown reiterated his admiration for Palmer and said he felt "we can fit it back together."

He said Palmer was not specifc about his complaints, but "we'll reach out to him."

"He's good people," Brown said. "He didn't point the finger."

Brown also said former Vikings head coach Brad Childress, thought to be a candidate for offensive coodinator, won't be coming to the Bengals. He didn't say if there were other candidates.

This keeps getting worse. Is MB trying to see how many fans he can lose in one offseason? I wish Carson the best and I don't blame him whatever he chooses to do.

No city or fans or players deserve to be treated like this. How long until the NFL forces MB to sell or give up control??

so to all the people that have been in denial since this whole thing started.....now what??
No different than before. And I was never in denial.

Nothing is going to happen. No trade. No retirement. Show up to TC in July and play (if there is a TC) or be in violation of your contract.

Simple stuff.

I for one had hoped it wasn't true. Obviously it is.

I now hope that Mike Brown would do whatever it takes to make Carson happy.
If he doesn't then what can I do? I am not going to stop being a fan of this team.

I use them as a form of entertainment. Sure it gets frustrating at times.
But I realized long ago that I have no control over anything relating to the
Bengals winning. And I heard some wise words about serenity to accept
the things I cannot change.

Call me a sheep or whatever.

I could never give my allegiance to another team.

But the idea of giving up on the NFL and just watching Ohio State until Mike is no longer in charge gets more and more appealing every day.
x2

I told my wife last night that I am done financially supporting the Bengals (gear, tickets, etc) until things change. I will watch them on TV, but that is it. And, considering the dark ages look to be coming back, they won't be on TV in Columbus more than 3-4 times/year.

Mike Brown should be found mentally incompetent to run an NFL Franchise.

Lewis wants to replace Brat- No

Terrel Owens says the problem is Brat- No

Benson has a problem with Brat- No

now the face of the franchise- No

Someone remind me why I love this team! It's not like there were any extended glory day periods. They don't have the illustrious history that the Packers, Bears, Chiefs, Pittsburgh or Dallas has. I'm afraid if I had a shrink, he would tell me I must have been abandoned or neglected as a child...

At this point it's funny to me. The battle was lost when you let a 4-12 coach throw you under a bus and actually let speculation of his demands run through the media then belly up to the negotiation table with him.

It's fucked up. Marvin's ass should have been gone after Tampa. Plain and simple.

With very little cost he'd at least have Zimmer coaching and building hype today. Now he's got a mess. Could have been completely different.

I'm just waiting for the next Bengal figure to emerge and carry the flag of the fans. Keep in mind to just get a shitty OC fired! Crazy.

First it's TO, then Marvin, then Carson. Maybe Katie will threaten disownment. Of course Paul Brown Jr would love that.

MOBILE, Ala. — Bengals president Mike Brown said on Monday that Carson Palmer met with him a little over a week ago and asked for a trade. Brown also said that he told Palmer that it would not be something that the team would consider doing at this time.

“He is key to our plans, he’s central to us,” Brown said. “He was told that and that we count on him going forward. He was told that we are not in a position to trade him.”

When asked if he thought Palmer would go through with his plans to retire if he didn’t get traded, Brown said that whole idea seemed impractical.

“We’ll just have to see how it plays out,” Brown said. “We’ll reach out to him and understand the things that are in his craw. Maybe there are things we can do that will appeal to him. We’ll try to and see whether we can get it fit back together again in the future.”

According to Brown, the meeting was amicable and that Palmer “didn’t finger anyone or anything. … He’s a great player and equally a fine person.”

This past season Palmer set a team record for pass attempts with 586, completing 362 (61.8 percent) for 3970 yards with 26 touchdowns and 20 interceptions (passer rating of 82.4). The interceptions tied a career high and five of those were returned for touchdowns.
