I wont pretend to know anything about this, but this sounds good...

regarding the debate between guards, I dont know if you spend a first round pick on a guy then ask him to move from LT to RG. even though his natural position might be guard I feel like there is still a risk associated with this kind of move. The Bengals cannot afford to screw this draft up. They have a real opportunity to solidify the future of this team in April, I think they need to be agressive.

Glenn was a guard up until this year. He replaced Clint Boling at LT.

I was thinking if you went to his blog (which I can't get to), you might find some pertinent info with regards to the 2012 comp picks. Or maybe he'd reply if asked about specific players qualifying or not qualifying.

He hasn't posted anything since last March ....

Watched Decastro closley... never seen a guard who completely missed guys or barely made contact with defenders on so many running plays.

He looked great pulling, really athletic... but never blocked anyone. Then a defender would make the tackle behind him. Same when they ran behind him. He would fire off the ball, not touch anyone, then look around like he was trying to find someone to block. Occasionally he would lunge at a defender and miss or make weak contact. Meanwhile the ball carrier has already been tackled.

He looked better pass blocking. But it was frustrating watching him in the running game because I kept waiting for him to put a solid block on a defender.

I seriously question if you're watching the right guy.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a better pulling guard, and he's always got his helmet on someone.

I'm with Cricket and Jason and don't think we'll get a 3rd for Joseph. From what AdamJT13 writes, if players are cut before week 10, they don't count so Jean-Gilles wouldn't count against us.

Another of his posts quotes Mike Brown as saying the Bengals have figured out the system.

Not sure what he said yesterday, but if you read any of my posts, Reedy has been saying for months that the Bengals won't get one. His source is an NFL insider who is very familiar with the formula and how picks are awarded.

So this is not news.

He also said he had a better chance of doing a duet with Taylor Swift
than Carson Palmer had of getting traded.

Joseph was signed to a huge multi-year deal. And he was a Pro Bowler.
Clements was signed for 1 season. No post season awards.

Short answer, no.

Only players of equal value cancel each other out.
At least that is my understanding.
Coming in after the conversation so I may be missing something but wasnt Clements signed for 2 years here?

Richardson is the only guy who might fall to 17 that I'd take over DeCastro (and I don't expectRichardson to fall). I normally fall more on the side of BPA than need, but in this case, I see DeCastro as appropritae to that slot and an ideal fit for an OLine that needs serious interior talent. I feel he has all-pro ability and, being an OLine, he should be able to return on investment for a decade or more. That's not to say I wouldn't be tempted if Claiborne or Kirkpatrick were still there, bu tI'm even more doubful of that than Richardson still being on the board.

I think you could still land one of Jenkins, Dennard or Minniefield with pick 1b or Trufant or Gillmore in round 2. I'm not a fan of Glenn in round 1. I'd rather go with Osemele or Zeitler in round two, but they are way behind DeCastro in my mind. :

Chambers? I'm pretty old and my memory isn't very good...who was Chambers?

Also, If Scaife counts as a gain (IR'ed before regular season started), then certainly Ndukwe counts as a loss (played in two games).

Kirk Chambers ..... http://www.bengals.com/team/roster/Kirk-Chambers/CHA111272

And I don't see how anyone could call Scaife a gain (or Chambers a loss, really)
I forgot either ever signed with the Bengals.

you're right, though its not age, its years in the league I believe. It's why we didn't get anything for TJ, and the stealers didn't get anything when faneca went to arizona.

Good call on age with regards to Reggie Kelly, Jason. He's in is 13th season (according to NFL.com).

It looks to me like Reedy is just guessing...like the rest of us...because I can't see Scaife counting as a gain (IR'ed before 1st regular season game) without Ndukwe counting as a loss (played in 2 games).

As I've said before, it would be nice if the NFL would publish just what it is that qualifies or disqualifies a player in the compensation pick equation.

the reason why I think Scaife would count but not Ndukwe is Ndukwe was signed in the middle of the season. My guess.

But year, Reedy is just guessing.

That adam guy is the only guy I've ever seen predict it with any kind of accuracy, and he won't guess until March.

I didn't know that. Seeing that he played in two games, I assumed it was the first two and then he got injured.

Looks like no comp picks this year. [If Chambers counts and Scaife doesn't (making it a zero-net-gain) it's possible that we could end up with a very late 7th-rounder.]

yea the raiders signed ndukwe a day or two after the carson trade. Cut him 2-3 weeks later.
