NASTYNATI
Matt Miller 4/4 Mock: I doubt they draft 3 corners, but id be happy with Verrett and Murray in the 1st and 3rd.http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2016211-2014-nfl-mock-draft-matt-millers-updated-7-round-predictions/page/25 1. happyrid
No RB and OT is a fail Agreed. No D line until the late 6th isn't great either. Switch the 2nd rounder to an OT and the 4th or 5th to a RB and I could live with the rest of it.
Bengals1181
No RB and OT is a fail yea I'd be happy with Verrett (though like others more), Colvin, Murray and Halapoi, but the lack of an OT is really errant IMO. And while its not a definite, if you read between the lines of Hobson's comments, they're taking a RB at some point (and Hobson has repeatedly suggested "early")
|SF2|
No RB and OT is a fail Don't see a need at all for a WR unless I am missing something. I like Bradford from Arizona State but don't see the need for him unless the plan is eventually to move Taz to MLB and slide him to WILL. Seem to have some pretty good players already to make such a move but Bradford is pretty good. Murray at 3 would result in a 100 page thread. texbengal
Some really good players there. I really like Herron - for a smallish guy, he's really tough. Fast, and has really nice hands, too. Aaron Murray is a solid prospect, assuming his injury checks out OK.

I agree he is a solid prospect. Good arm and throws a lot of the more difficult passes. Accuracy might be an issue. I would lean more to my LSU boy if we are looking for a project. Aaron Murray is a solid prospect, assuming his injury checks out OK. What pre draft injuries have totally hindered players from the chance of having a productive career? Not just any player but a solid prospect, a draftable prospect... who had injuries and pulled through them and had respectable careers? D'Quan (sp.) Bowers. I remember him having a big injury to his knee I think. How has he turned out? Didn't Michael Crabtree have an injury? Marcus Lattimore is still a big question mark. Didn't Robert Woods have an issue? Christian Ponder? Willis McGahee told his injury to kiss his ass. I'm wondering of the pre draft injured players, how many of those injuries actually caused that player to fail.

I heard about this offensive tackle from USC that only played 1 game his senior year and had knee issues. Can't recall what ever became of him. EDIT: I really hope Lattimore does well. If he can come back from his injury and play well, I might even buy his jersey. Uh, San Francisco huh? Never mind about the jersey.

Ha.....what's funny though is that in all my Dalton criticism, I've never suggested to start someone else or to even get rid of Dalton at this time, because it's not the smart thing to do. I just don't think it's a good idea to sign him to a big money extension right now. But the frothing mouths who make funny posts after murdering their pets due to Dalton criticism are too amusing to actually correct......it provides me great entertainment so I let it go......I think people take this internet forum and football in general, a little too seriously. I like Mettenburger also.....more than Murray. I like Savage also. I REALLY like Colvin, the CB from Oklahoma...if he's truly healthy. Think he could be a good NFL player. But we also have 9 picks and less than 9 needs so some of the late picks will be for depth and an attempt to upgrade the last few roster spots. Anywhere in first 4 rounds seems too early but we also have 5 picks in rounds 5-7 and I think 1 of those 5 late picks will end up being a WR. Could be a bigger guy, but my gut tells me it is more likely to be a small slot WR type who could potentially be an impact returner as well. Jalen Saunders from Oklahoma is probably my favorite if he lasts until the 5th round or later. Maybe Dri Archer if he is still there. I'd see that player as competition for both Sanzenbacher as backup slot WR and Tate as return specialist.

I'd be really surprised if that happens. And REALLY surprised if a 5th round receiver can make the 53 man roster. There aren't many people that are 100% satisfied with Brandon Tate, but everybody who is works in the Bengals front office. I guess there's something to be said for a return guy that stays healthy, doesn't turn the ball over, and doesn't complain about his role. Even if it means only one big return a year. But this is supposed to be the deepest WR draft possibly ever. If they go true BPA through the draft, I think a receiver will get taken by the Bengals at some point. And I agree with happyrid, I think they might look for a speedy slot receiver to replace Hawkins.

And I agree with happyrid, I think they might look for a speedy slot receiver to replace Hawkins. Could be a more sinister reason. Find a guy who can replace either Jones or Sanu down the road on a rookie contract to save cap space for what might be some very big contracts soon. Not what I would want, just thinking out loud. In particular, Jones is a player I really like alot and I am sure there are plenty of GMs who do as well. The other position I am puzzled not seeing is TE. Gresh will be getting paid soon and lets be honest, do we really need two high end TEs on the team or just 1? Eifert can pick up most of the slack and a good blocker who can catch the occasional pass would make some sense.

If Colvin is there any time after the 5th round I'd consider him as a "future's-type" pick. Anybody we take from the late-fifth on is probably not gonna be much more than practice squad fodder so why not take him and "redshirt" him. I'll pretty much guarantee hafter he rehabilitates it he's gonna be better than any 5ht Rd corner we'd take next year,

For those of you bummed about Dalton, how does drafting Murray offer an alternative? If he could come in and mimic Dalton by next year he'd be a solid pick due to the money savings. A lot of us don't hate Dalton at a low salary but are simply dreading his upcoming payday.

We aren't going to let AJ get away. But if he's making big money, it could be tough to keep both Sanu and Jones. I also think that there is a chance that if Sanu doesn't take the next step and make a few more plays, they'd be looking to upgrade in the slot anyway. Definitely think we'll look for a TE who is a good blocker in the mid-late rounds. My guess is with the first 4 picks, in some order it will be CB, OT, DE or DT and RB or QB. 2 picks on offense and 2 on defense (the Bengals seem to split the early picks pretty evenly almost every single draft). With the 5 late picks, I think RB or QB (whichever isn't addressed early), a 2nd CB, WR, TE and then a Safety or LB.
