With the 55th Pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the Bengals Select Jeremy Hill, RB LSU!!

In re: Hill vs. Hyde

I think you can't really go wrong with either guy. The word on street is the Bengals liked Hill more because he's a little faster, has better hands, and played in a pro-style offense against SEC competition. Both guys have had off field issues so that was a wash. It's exciting to envision a one-two punch with Hill and Gio combining power and speed.

I'll bet the Bengals wish Hyde had been taken before their draft slot, so that fans won't be able to second-guess the pick. But Hyde got a horrible break going to the 49ers, as they have an incredibly deep backfield. So if Hyde has trouble getting on the field maybe all of the second-guessers gradually just fade away.

I read something yesterday that said Hyde, who had a 9 wonderlic score, had to have a personal tutor hired by the football team to help him try and retain football information and the playbook.

Yeesh. Wonder what his GPA was.

Also, the image of Whitworth "wiggling his way into" a draft room or anyplace else is pretty damn funny. I'd guess it's a lot more Mr. Kool-Aid than that.

I wonder what the 49ers are going to do with all their RBs. Do they cut Gore this year? Trade LaMichael James or Kendall Hunter? Maybe Lattimore's comeback isn't going as well as hoped. If he recovers his prior form, he's better than Gore or Hyde.

If you have any reservations about Jeremy Hill, take 20 minutes to watch these game clips. If you don't think you have 20 minutes, start watching and you won't stop:

Bengals OC: 'Right now" there's room for Green-Ellis

When the Cincinnati Bengals selected LSU running back Jeremy Hill in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, it seemed like very bad news at The Law Firm.

That's BenJarvus Green-Ellis, of course, the seventh-year running back who led the Bengals in carries last season. Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said "I don't think you can ever have too many," when asked about the updated running back depth chart, but he was cryptic when asked specifically if there's room for both Green-Ellis and Hill.

"Right now there is," Jackson said, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer. "Right now that's not my concern. We have some very competitive guys in that room, and nobody is going to shy away from anything. At the end of the day, we're going to play the best players."

Translation: Green-Ellis could be on borrowed time in Cincy. Giovani Bernard is a rising star who will see more touches, not less, in his second season. The team loves the potential of Hill, whom Bengals coach Marvin Lewis crowed about after his selection.

"We did our due diligence," Lewis said. "He came out as one of the most versatile runners, both big and strong, ability to make people miss, ability to catch the football."

Any pause the Bengals have over Hill goes back to his off-the-field issues, which include a pair of arrests in high school and college. But if Hill keeps his head on straight, there's a very good chance he'll supplant Green-Ellis as Bernard's running mate in 2014.

That TD vs. South Carolina... Wow.

That D was something, too - Clowney, Devin Taylor, Devonte Holloman, Antonio Allen, DJ Swearinger, etc.

For everyone who wanted Blount, or even better for those who wanted Steven Jackson over Chris Perry

COMPARES TO: LeGarrette Blount, New England Patriots - Considering their size, punishing downhill running style and, unfortunately, character red flags, Blount is an easy comparison for Hill. Hill is a better athlete than Blount and boasts superior vision, lateral agility and speed, which could lead him to earning much more of a featured role in the NFL than the time-share Blount has played in most of his NFL career. With commitment, Hill could be the second coming of Steven Jackson.

Actually, the report I read also suggested that Hyde basically found his way onto the football team once Urban Myer, who has a track record of bending the rules to get the players on the field, took over as coach.
