Mike Brown, " Who needs a linebacker coach when you only have two linebackers."

And 1 of them sucks!

They should have suited Tim Bucktu up and put him on the field.

Couldn't have been any worse than Preston "Anti Freeze" Brown.

Hello Mark Duffner?

Callahan and Wade Phillips out there.

If asked, would they come here and work for the Brown family

and under Zac?

Tem Lukabu out as LB coach.

This is a huge loss. How are we ever going to get the LB's back to the elite status they were this past season.

Looks like Joe Judge, the Pats current ST coach is interviewing for the Giants job but the Frontrunner for the Miss State job. I could see Simmons going to the Pats if that job opens.

Would he really make a lateral move?  Dude was the star of this coaching staff, bar none.  I guess if they pay him huge $$ then maybe? FWIW he seems to be the type of guy who greatly appreciates the... eh... "generosity" (read: total predictability) of Mike Brown.

Wow, another position coach straight to HC. Is this becoming a thing? Is there too much traditional thinking and planning among the prescribed upper echelon of NFL coaches?

EDIT: I see him being an ST coord...still, Teams coordinating makes someone qualified for head boss?

David Tepper blows up the coaching salary curve

Panthers owner David Tepper apparently didn’t get the memo that, despite the absence of a salary cap for coaches, NFL teams don’t spend as freely as they could on the men who run their teams.

Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports that the seven-year deal given to new Panthers coach Matt Rhule has a base value of $60 million, and that it can be worth up to $70 million with incentives.

That’s a whopping $8.5 million per year for an entry-level coach, and another $1.5 million per year (on average) in incentives — a device not commonly used at the NFL level.

It’s about time, frankly, that someone disrupts what arguably has been collusive activity for decades. Coaches are worth far more than they are paid. If Nick Foles, for example, has a value of $22 million per year, Bill Belichick is worth twice that amount.

But teams have managed to resist an explosion of the market, due in part to the fact that the most valuable coaches don’t want to risk losing a game of musical chairs by calling an owner’s bluff and becoming a free agent. The money is more than good enough, but it could be better. It now may start getting a lot better. Rhule, thanks to Tepper, could re-set the market.

And that could earn a frosty reception for Tepper when the owners gather for the annual meetings in March.

I would very seriously consider replacing Lou Anarumo with Wade Phillips

I would do that right now. No consideration needed.

If the bigger market teams with the ego owners start paying these kinds of salaries for coaches then this will create an even greater separation between them and the Bengals.  Can you imagine Mikey paying $8M for a HC when he wont even spend $100K for an extra scout?

Edit - Just remembered that the CFL this past season implemented a team salary cap for the coaches and personnel departments. Never expect the NFL to do the same but it is an interesting concept for parity.

Kris Richard is jobless at the moment. I'd bring him in as DC and DB coach. He's worked wonders with the secondary wherever he's coached.

We already had 1 coach leave, this has caused a load of stress for the Inbreds. It is after all, very hard to run an NFL franchise (into the ground).

There's only 1 NFL HC job open at the moment, in Cleveland. There are several teams still filling out their staffs. While the Bengals should have dumped Taylor, it seems they won't. They still shouldn't forgo the opportunity to upgrade the staff. Anarumo and Turner need to go for starters. We need a new LB coach. Callahan didn't impress as OC but since Taylor is the playcaller he gets a pass if his dad comes aboard. Otherwise we should try to replace him with Joe Brady to give Burrow some continuity.

Hobson: ...and because of that, the Bengals will not have enough cap space to sign any premier free agents...
