claptonrocks
8 hours ago, T-Dub said: They looked OK against a Stooler team in freefall and were barely good enough to let us outscore Houston in a shootout. Against a good team like Baltimore they went back to getting absolutely run over. For most of the year they looked slow and/or babyshit soft IMO. Some of the most halfassed attempts at tackling I've ever seen & none of them could get off a block. Then again, the team in general seemed to want to be somewhere else, so maybe there's some talent there but they didn't want to play for Lou Asshole? Could also believe that the lack of DT's left them vulnerable to interor O linemen running free at the 2nd level. 5.1 YPC allowed does not point to good LB's. Pratt was good in coverage the last half of season.. Problem was tackling.. He had a 37.4 grade at run defense due to poor tackling.. Bynes was not good..Just a filler .. Replace Bynes with Micah Parsons If they go that way.. Parsons Wilson and Pratt rotation looks good on paper.. Dline needs help as well.. Id go for a penetrating D tackle in round 2 and Marvin Wilson fits that spot next to Reader.. Now the front seven at least looks respectable (potentially).. Sign Moten or Tunney to help the oline.. Hey its a start...

Missing on that contract would be a big setback. If he'd played the entire season I'd feel much better about potentially losing Geno (though I know they don't play the same position, more about DL talent level as a whole)

|SF2|
If you are going with mostly a two backer scheme my advice would be to have at least 1 absolute stud at the position. We don’t.
spicoli
How many "stud" LBs are there in the NFL these days anyway? I'm gonna say not many. The LB position and the RB position in todays NFL are much the same, teams just don't put a lot of value on those spots.

He tried the usual schtick only to see the Bengals sign a whole pile of FA's afterward, exposing the fallacy - we have to hope people other than us noticed and Hobson was embarrassed by it. I'm not holding my breath of course.

BengalFanInTO
I always use, "Hobson The Numbers" as a regular term. I even had an ongoing fun bet with Jersey where we'd try and use the term in work meetings. I could never use it without bursting out laughing. He's always concocting stories about escalators, the rookie pool and injury settlements and then throws down cover fire by writing a puff piece about Josh Tupou being re-signed and his awesome character as he retells a story about Tupou rescuing a kitten from a tree. In truth, despite the Bengals solid cap position, they're going to need to do an abnormally good job this offseason. Here's what I would consider doing: Internal Moves Cut (+28 Million): Geno Atkins, Bobby Hart, CJ Uzomah, Gio Bernard and BJ Finney Re-Sign: Mackensie Alexander, Kevin Huber, William Jackson, Brandon Wilson, Clark Harris, Margus Hunt, Branden Allen, Samaje Perine, Quinton Spain, Carl Lawson I will be honest. I am not overly sold on re-signing William Jackson and/or Carl Lawson. Of the two, I'd let WJIII walk. I just think there's too much money that will be tied up in two good but not great players. Extend: Jessie Bates Free Agent Targets OT: Taylor Moton, Daryl Williams, Kelvin Beachum OG: Brandon Scherff, Joe Thuney, Matt Feiler, Jon Feliciano Center: Corey Linsley, David Andrews, Austin Reiter WR: Chris Conley (credit to MichaelWeston), Nelson Agholor, Breshad Perriman, Curtis Samuel CB: Brian Poole (credit to MichaelWeston), Troy Hill, Ronald Darby, Desmond King, K'Waun Williams TE: Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith, Gerald Everett S: Jaquiski Tartt, Xavier Woods My main focus would be to on Daryl Williams, Matt Feiler, Austin Reiter, Chris Conley, Breshad Perriman, Brian Poole, Gerald Everett and Jaquiski Tartt with Williams, Feiler, Conley, Poole and Everett being my main focus.
