Taylor seems like a good guy and all but if not for Burrow he would be exposed as one of the worst HCs in NFL history, which is what he was before Burrow showed up. I think Taylor certainly installed a good culture by getting the right kind of players but as a play caller he leaves a lot to be desired

A decade worth of poor drafting and bad trades/FA acquisitions have dug a pretty big hole. OBJr and Karras are solid but the Bengals had nothing to do with developing them, they were proven players long before they got here. Whoever they've got evaluating OL prospects sucks at it and should be replaced. Have to wonder if Coach Ketchup is still whispering in someone's ear. Karras is mediocre to be honest, I know alot of people get beat by Myles Garret but I also seen him get pushed back numerous times. Our best linemen is Kappa, and Kappa is only good at pass blocking, he leaves some things to be desired for run blocking. I really think this is a scouting problem more than anything else. Whoever is in charge of finding our draft picks and free agents needs to be fired. That said there is alot on coaching here too, Karras, Cappa, and OBJ all have superbowl rings.

A Rock
IMO, there's a fatal, Pollyanna type flaw in the team's culture. They show no repulsion to losing. They don't like it, obviously. But who's the heavy in this organization? The standard attitude and comment after losing seems to be something to the effect of, "we know we underachieved and lost, but it's okay, we know we're better than that and we'll show you next week." Reporters can ask the same “what’s wrong?” question 1000 different ways. Responses will be (appropriately) limited. Say too much and it’s “locker room degeneration”. Say anything about a particular player or players, and it’s “team coming apart at the seams”. Say too little, and it’s “team struggling to come to grips with….blah…blah…blah” Come to think of it, what Chido said, was right in the perfect middle of nothingness

Feels a lot like Belicheat where he was a "genius" as long as he had Brady. Alexander was definitely involved in drafting Jonah, whether there's ketchup stains anywhere else IDK. I do know getting the highest paid player in the NFL sidelined by waiting for Jonah to get it together is a terrible decision by someone. If his option were for $12 instead of $12 million would he even be on the roster right now? The Turner hire was indeed comical timing after all Zac's early talk about character and bringing in leaders and family values and blah blah blah... Then he immediately hired one of the most notorious douchebags available.

HavePityPlease
FWIW I tried to get a screencap of the holding call on the Bengals' second play from scrimmage. It looks like they called it on Volson who, as you can see, has a tiny bit of jersey here. The problem is that in full speed the shirt grab does nothing, the guy pushes out of it like it was nothing. Cappa simply blocked his man perfectly.

HavePityPlease
Here are a couple more fun ones: Here is the "block in the back" they were GOING to call on the punt return TD, but picked up the flag after presumably seeing the replay on the big screen: And here is the "illegal contact" call on CTB where it was simply OBJ grabbing him by the collar and throwing him. Isn't this embarrassing for the league and the ref crew? 1

No. At best they don't give a single shit. The money train will keep chugging right along. At worst, it's intentional and actually makes them more money, directly or through "partnerships" with sports books that they don't even bother trying to deny anymore. They're going to have the same millions of potential ad viewers every Sunday for the rest of the year regardless. If anything the bad calls generate more web traffic for their ad partners. Clicks are currency. Teams getting jobbed by the refs is just part of the culture now.

Arkansas Bengal
Bengals snap count takeaways after loss to Ravens Chris Roling Mon, Sep 18, 2023, 9:50 AM CDT·1 min read The Cincinnati Bengals came up short in a 27-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2. That plants the Bengals in the very same 0-2 hole as last year, with one big wrinkle — quarterback Joe Burrow says he re-aggravated his calf injury. Burrow didn’t end up missing any snaps and says he would have re-entered the game if given the chance, but it’s a wait-and-see game on his status now. Here’s a look at some quick snap-count takeaways. — Ja’Marr Chase led all weapons with 98 percent usage yet ended with just five catches on eight targets for 31 yards. — With Chris Evans out, Trayveon Williams got 10 snaps behind Joe Mixon and the rookie Chase Brown, making his pro debut, got one snap, a carry for two yards. — Irv Smith got 77 percent of the possible snaps at tight end and caught two passes for 10 yards. — Dax Hill and Cam Taylor-Britt are firmly in the 99 percent club alongside Logan Wilson and Germaine Pratt. — Nick Scott played 65 percent of the snaps but was in and out with an injury, leading to rookie Jordan Battle playing 33 percent. — Rookie corner DJ Turner got 24 snaps (32 percent). First-rounder Myles Murphy had 19 (25 percent). https://sports.yahoo.com/bengals-snap-count-takeaways-loss-145040329.html?src=rss

Thought he should have shaken that tackle of Kyle Hamilton. That was a long gainer waiting to happen there. That said, he made a nice catch for 1st down on a short pass that Burrow threw badly. He’s probably the guy that most needed TC reps with JB so they are learning on the fly. He’s talented… I think they’ll get lots better but it’s definitely off to a slow start.
