JC
If he was - you’d think he’d retire so Carolina wouldn’t have to take on so much dead money. Of course it could be a power play by him to make sure he gets all of his guarantees. He seemed pretty discontent being there last year.

MichaelWeston
Jonnu signed with Dolphins. Takes one of the teams that needed a TE away but he signed for up to (who knows what that means) 2 years 10M. I am not sure I go there for him. I would for Fant. I was kind of hoping for Jonnu or Logan Smith to make it easy to draft Bowers

MichaelWeston
A guy who I did not have on the list but maybe should is Brycen Hopkins of Rams. He is 4th string in LAR and probably available. Decent upside.
sparky151
Those contract numbers get reported at their max value. It takes a few days until they are filed with the union for the actual numbers to come out. Sort of like how Gesicki was supposedly making 8 mil from the Pats last year when it was 4 mil plus incentives.

|BlackJesus|
Hear me out ... Trade for Pitts, and still draft Bowers ... 🤔 Burrow at QB, CEH at RB, Ja'Marr and Tee out wide, with Pitts and Bowers in the slot. Now I need to go change my boxers. 💦
MichaelWeston
How did this happen? We went from no one on the tight end depth chart to 5 locks in 2 months. How do you cut anyone? Do we just go light at RB and keep 5 TEs? Does it look more like this....with a blocking TE position....is Gesicki a WR so we go light there? But I think there are 6 locks at WR....to go with 5 at TE. TE Gesicki 25 Hudson 25 All 28 McClachlan 28 TE Sample 27 Grandy 27 As far as I can tell the Titans are very light at TE. I wonder if we could send them Hudson for something. in camp if we are healthy. Dan Pitcher definitely thinks All is better because of his versatility as the Bengals move toward a more positionless offense. Pitcher on All’s role as a complete tight end among a group otherwise segmented with obvious strengths and weaknesses: “I think he really fits there because as I mentioned before, he can be the F in 12 (personnel). He can be the single tight end on the field in 11 (personnel). He’s got experience in wing sets, in multiple tight end sets, where he’s done a lot of that. So, he’s a guy you can play on the move, he can play the point of attack — he truly is versatile … He’s a complete tight end. And that’s what he’s going to be for us.”

Feels like at least one of the picks will likely start on PUP (All), and I suspect the writing is on the wall for Hudson if they have to cut someone. sparky151
I'd guess Gesicki, Sample, and probably Hudson are safe. Between All and McLachlan, if All is healthy, he'd have the edge since they drafted him earlier. The latter can go to PS. We'll probably carry 4 TEs on the 53 and 1 on the PS. With Dax Hill moving to corner I think the CB room is a bit crowded at the moment too, but I guess time will sort it out. The thinnest position group seems to be RB, but you can usually find some decent options on the street if need be.

You could argue that Gesicki is a WR or a hybrid... so: WR - Chase, Higgins, Burton, Iosivas, Jones, Irwin TE - Sample, All, McLachlan, Hudson Hybrid - Gesicki That's 11. Add 3 RBs (Brown, Moss, Williams), 2 QBs (Burrow, Browning) and 9 OL (5 starters, Ford, Mims, 2 more). That's 25... not unprecedented. 3 specialists, and 25 on D - 10 DL, 5 LB, 10 DBs. Probably an injury or two. They can manage if they decide to go that way. That said, if they cut one to go heavier somewhere else like OL, I'm guessing it'd be either Hudson or Irwin. It's not like Hudson was Joe Popular when he was cut before, so he'd be a PS candidate. Same for Irwin.

If we cut TM at final cutdown, teams claiming him would have to put him on their 53 for a minimum number of weeks. That's why you don't see as many claims at final cuts as you might expect. dex
Wilcox was a big special teams loss. Hudson and Irwin have very little special teams value, Iosivas and Jones have a lot in that area. You really plenty of special teams snaps from your TE room. Not sure how much special teams that All or McLachlan have played.

Good point. We hear every fall that one rookie or another will never clear waivers, yet they almost always do.
