Tight end is another interesting spot.

Everyone is a free agent

-Hudson is either an RFA or UFA depending on where you look, regardless he should be back

-Sample might get a decent payday. He is great for his role

-Wilcox should be back. He is versatile in that he can block, catch and play teams, not great at anything though

-Smith is gone....career probably over

1-Schultz is the best of the class but probably too much for us

2-Henry is very interesting, older than we like but rock solid

3-Brycen Hopkins hasn't gotten a chance but could be solid

4-Uzomah is likely to be released and could be back

5-Everett might be the best option. Still has some juice and ties to Taylor

6-Fant is the best field stretcher of the bunch and just 26

7-Alie-Cox is probably a cap casualty and will come cheap

8-Parkinson is just 25 and has flashed

9-Bryant is just 26 and has shown well but probably not a primary TE

10-Gesicki is basically a slot WR, but a good one

11-Albert O-Just 26 and has a ton of upside. Frine roster guy

Sample must be brought back because ironically blocking TEs are much harder to find in today's NFL than receiving ones. They are a throwback like fullbacks.

On that list, Allie-Cox, Gesicki, and Fant intrigue me. I would kick the tires on them.

Yes, most teams don't carry fullbacks and use TEs (or even sometimes linemen) in short yardage situation for an extra blocker in the backfield.

Ben Sinnot of Kansas State is a good H-back prospect for day 3.

Isn't Will Dissly of the Seahawks also a free agent?

I have long wanted a developmental Basketball player as a practice squad guy at tight end.

This is the UDFA for me this year

Your thinking to much Antonio Gates.

Just doesn't happen now.

And btw.

This talk about Gronk,  Kelce and Gonzalez as the best ever.....

It was Antonia Gates..

Still and maybe forever..

I'd be very surprised if Irv Smith was re-signed. I also wouldn't be surprised if Hudson or Sample got a better offer from another team. Wilcox should be back as there won't be much competition for him.

Sample maybe.

Hudson not so much..

Both will return along with Wilcox imo.

Not sure on Wilcox, althogh he's solid on STs. Could definitely see Sample and Hudson back, but I woulnd't be shocked if Callahan went after them, too. Especially Sample. He's a real asset in the run game.
