Whatttt

Played Saturday night and was pretty effective. Was competing for one of the last spots on the 53 man roster. No mention of any injury. Pretty sure he practiced yesterday, would think one of the beat writers would have mentioned it if he hadn't.

So what the hell?

Yeah I have Sample making the team playing HBack if you want to call it 5 TEs and no Hback, cool. I think its likely Chris Evans days are numbered.

I don't see it happening, the McLachlan hype is crazy to me..sure he had a decent game vs 3rd and 4th string guys but that will get you on the PS not final 53.

He's not some early round pick that will get scooped up by for by other teams to replace proven vets...he's an unproven rookie.

He'll be a tough cut, but a cut none the less

I'm not even on the hype train so much, I think we can keep him and let him ride the bench for a year while getting experience so that we're not drafting a TE again next year. This is more about future planning as I don't think Chris Evans has a role here long term.

He was drafted far later than expected. You are thinking about where he was drafted and not the kind of player he was. Many places had him rated more highly than All.

Also you need more bodies like him because of the new kickoff rule.

You can do that with him on the PS, no NFL team keeps 5 TE on their final 53 man roster. Guys who make the 53 man roster aren't developmental bench riders, you just described a PS player.

For the past few years everyone on this board writes off Evans and he keeps making the team.

I don't think either player makes it, but I would take Evans over the 5th string TE.

He makes the team and then does pretty much almost nothing all year except ride the bench, seems like a waste.

That makes no sense, he was 6th round pick...which means every NFL team passed on him atleast 5 times and the team that did draft him drafted another TE first.

These "many places" were not NFL teams so their ratings are worthless..NFL teams don't give 2 shits how random self proclaimed draft guru ranks prospects.

No you don't, you need blockers or returners, he doesn't do either...he's a

receiving TE that doesn't block well...

The Bengals don't want to pay Chase so they would do something stupid like keep 5 TEs though.

Do you think that Offensive lineman are going to be on the special teams unit blocking?

The Bengals want to pay Chase. Mike Brown has said it time and time again.

The other teams didn't have unlimited draft resources.
