MichaelWeston
Green=Played well Orange=Didn't play Red=Played badly Burrow 29 Browning 26 Woodside 25 Lombardi 27 Burrow looked good, put him in bubble tape. Browning didn't look good but he will be fine. Woodside looked very good. He's already 29 and has bounced around the league. It's possible he would land in Pittsburgh as he played for Arthur Blank in Tennessee and Atlanta but they seem like they have their QBs. RB Brown 27 Moss 26 Williams 25 Evans 25 Collins 27 Cain 27 Brown looked fine, Williams had a nice tackle on teams, Evans had a good return. Collins was the biggest shock for me. He was impressive on a screen. I assumed we would be going outside of the roster for our PS RB WR Chase 26 Irwin 25 Pryor Butler 25 WR Higgins 25 Burton 28 Jackson Burgess 27 WR Iosivas 27 Jones 27 Lassiter Higgins-Yoshi all flashed. Burton was great at the end against 4th stringers...as he should be. Pryor-Jackson-Lassiter-Butler could all be the 6th WRs on teams. It will be tough to decide who stays on the practice squad again. Each was ok. TE Gesicki 25 Sample 27 Hudson 25 All 28 McClachlan 28 Grandy 27 I don't see a way they only keep 4 guys outside of injury. McClachlan played well and you have him for 4 years on a cheap deal. LT Brown 27 Carman 25 Smith 25 LG Volson 26 Kirkland Gilliam C Karras 26 Hill 25 Lee 28 RG Cappa 26 Ford 25 Miller 27 RT Brown 25 Mims 29 Cochran 25 Carman was bad. I thought Kirkland played very well. Got to the second level and seemed to push his man off the line very well. I think there is an outside chance he pushes Volson. Cochran and Carman played all of the second group's reps at tackle. I'm not sure where Dante Smith was, he is probably banged up. K McPherson 25 P Rehkow 27 Robbins 27 LS Adomitis 25 Robbins and Rehkow both were great. I don't know how you don't add another long snapper or kicker for preseason. Adomitis has to go down and tackle so often, we need a second option there for the later games. LE Hubbard 26 Ossai 25 Gunter Carter 25 LT Hill 25 Carter 26 Jackson 28 Davis Davis 25 RT Rankins 26 Jenkins 28 Tufele 25 Bell 25 Maxwell 26 RE Hendrickson 26 Murphy 27 Johnson 28 Blazek 27 The DT position is banged up. I thought Carter was terrible again, got pushed all over. Carl Davis was ok. Jenkins didn't show much. Andre Carter had an edge to him. Both Gunter and Johnson looked good. I could see them going light at tackle and deep at de to start the year. WLB Pratt 26 Davis-Gaither 25 Njongmeta 27 Harper 26 MLB Wilson 28 Bachie 25 Heyward Casey 27 I had assumed Casey and Harper were the leaders here among the backups and Njongmeta was just a guy to get tackles in camp. He wasn't. He collected 10 tackles and seemed fast. He seems to have the inside track to a potential 5th position. S Bell 25 Battle 27 Dowell 27 Jules 27 S Stone 26 Hill 27 Anderson 26 Anderson is out and they are light at backup safety. Jules played very well and brought some energy. Anthony getting banged up will make things interesting next week. CB Taylor-Britt 26 Newton 28 George Brooks 25 CB Turner 27 Ivey 27 Robinson 28 NB Hilton 25 Davis 25 Anthony 28 Newton had the pick, I am not sure Davis even played but I think he's a lock. Nate Brooks seemed to be in the right place at the right time. 2

|High School Harry|
Just from the one kick off I recall seeing someone is going to have to remind Money Mac to keep the ball out of the end zone unless on a bounce. THEN its kill the man with the ball.
|BlackJesus|
Carman better not make the final 53. The day they remove that tumor of suck will be addition by subtraction.
PatternMaster
I don't see any NFL team keeping 5 TE's, that like keeping 2 punters. One may go to IR and another to the PS. McLachlan played well against backups, but he's not making the 53 being so far down on the depth chart. He will be a late cut and stashed on PS.

He'd be the 3rd TE on the Titans and Browns and I haven't really looked much beyond that but I assume he will find an easy landing spot. dex
- MIMS - Pretty sure that Mims will be the starter at RT on opening day. I expected him to get much more than 15 snaps because of his lack of game experience in college. The fact that they didn't even bother to leave him in the game longer seems to imply the coaches are very happy with where he is in his development. Got to believe that TBrown will be the swing tackle. - BURTON - After listening to an interview with Troy Walters earlier in the week, I wasn't really surprised that Burton wasn't running with the second team even with both Chase/Jones unavailable to play. It isn't about his physical skills and his hands, which Walters admits are off the charts. He is raw with the route running, beating press coverage at the line, and all of the nuances of being in the right place in a precision offense. Walters even predicted that Burton would show well in a preseason game where they aren't showing a lot and the little things are less important. - CARMAN - I know some will still claim that he will be kept because he was a premium draft pick, but I don't believe it. Cincinnati was the least penalized team in the NFL last season. The coaches don't like penalties, and Carman was constantly getting flagged. - CARTER - He somehow got exactly 500 snaps last year, and has been very high in the DT rotation in the early practices. Still a mystery to me why Anarumo likes him so much. HE put on pounds last season in an effort to improve, took them off this offseason in an effort to improve...but doesn't look like he has improved at all. So far Carter has been every bit the premium round draft bust that Carman has been, but somehow keeps getting rewarded with snaps. No reason to think Carter won't make the roster given how much usage he keeps getting. I would be willing to part with a premium draft pack in a trade for a high quality run-stopping DT. That's just how big the hole there is (no pun intended). Tobin won't do it though.

The may try and sign Gesicki to a two yr deal if his production is worthy.. His catch radius makes for a huge target for JB. Gesicki, All, Sample and Hudson would be a solid unit. If Hilton has another positive year they may look for a 1 yr extension.

T-Dub
Seems every year theres a WR or RB tearing up camp while defenders are basically playing touch football. Get them in a live game and they're abused and disappear. Jury is still out on these guys but I wouldn't get too attached to any longshot roster hopefuls based on training camp hype.

It's hard to walk into the NFL and be ready to produce. It's not surprising that Burton has a lot to learn, and the Bengals WR group is a strong one full of vets that can be counted upon. I would be surprised if he saw much game action unless he can contribute on special teams.

There was also some Ross-type receiver that was a UDFA, track guy, even made some nice grabs in the preseason but couldn't beat press coverage or hang on to the ball in traffic (it's like they learned nothing). IIRC someone claimed him off waivers and he played a year or two as a return guy? I think he was even in Bengals camp a couple of times if that rings a bell? Anyhow looking at the dubious PFF grades I noticed a couple dudes people were hyping in camp didn't do shit in this first warmup game, but that's to be expected.

Yeah Kirkland's grade was a very pleasant surprise. Like I said, any backup with some upside would be fantastic. If they never take the next step then oh well, at least they'd be taking a spot from the not now and never shall be's.
