Like this is only a Bengals problem. I can name 31 other teams that have this same issue.

What other teams have two WR's that just about carry the offense, publicly endorsed by the franchise QB, both facing free agency, and both likely to hold out again if extensions don't happen?

1. Cincinnati Bengals.

2. ????

Good stuff. I'm of the belief that Chase will sign for 40 mil

What that leaves to sign Tee is a question mark..

Well, of course Ja'Marr would take 40 if it was offered. But the Bengals won't go that high and don't need to. He'll make 21.8 mil on his current contract and if tagged a couple of times would be at 26, then 31M. So he's better off signing a contract that averages more than that and has more in guarantees than his current 21.8.

The Jefferson contract is an easy baseline. Just up the annual salaries by a mil, and get it done. That would make Chase the highest paid WR in the league and the highest paid non-QB (at least until Parsons gets his deal).

Understood.

You know that Maxx Crosby just signed a new contract for 35 mil per.

That's Jefferson money..

Chase know his value is much more than Crosby's at this point.

Jefferson sons agent will be negotiating JJs contact after this season..

5 yrs 200 mil 40 per....

Yes, Crosby is getting a half mil per year more than Jefferson. So he can claim to be the highest paid non-QB in the NFL for a few weeks. If the Bengals give Chase a 36 mil average that will pass Crosby. Then Parsons or maybe Garrett will get new deals that top Chase and life goes on.

After hearing he wants $30M+ per season I'm not surprised. Giving that kind of money to pass rusher in his 30s who could fall off any season is very risky, especially when the rest of the defense sucks. I don't want Trey to leave, but getting peak value for him when they need to completely rebuild a defense is smart. The Chiefs just traded an All-Pro Guard even though their offensive line was not very good and I don't think many batted an eye at that. Now will they actually take advantage of an extra 1st round pick (which I think they should get) and the additional money to spend? Who knows.

I hate this Front Office. The only guy on D that was preforming and your going to trade him.

They don't want to trade him.

They want to pay him, he wants too much money.

Its a no brainer trade. Hes old, injury prone at times, one dimensional, and the defense was already bad with him.

The more another team is willing to pay Trey, the more they should give the Bengals in trade. It's a savvy move by the team to let him check the market. Maybe he comes back saying the Patriots will pay him 30M+ and will give their 2nd rounder for him. Bengals will then have the option of matching the Pats offer or swinging a deal and creating a big roster hole. But they would know they need to pursue Josh Sweat or take a DE at 17.

It damn near will be by the time this "rebuild" is finished.

So what if the Bengals receive excellent trade compensation...that would still require them to hit a home run with the draft and free agency. That is quite the dice roll.

Yeah we'll just draft another one, along with the WR2, 2 guards, Hubbard's replacement, another LB or two & maybe a TE and DB.

With the way Tobin has been killing it in the draft it should be no problem!

Definitely cause for some major concern.

Listen, I always figured that Hendrickson was probably #3 on the Bengals priority list behind Chase and Higgins, but this is not a very good start to the "plan" to keep all three players.
