My guess is that Tee signs elsewhere. Hendrickson plays out his last year unhappy. Mike Geisecki gets a big deal elsewhere. Jamarr Chase gets extended and Katie is upset that there's no parade to celebrate her achievement as the NFL's greatest GM, ever.

My question: How does Joe Burrow react? He knows how the cap works, he knows that they could have signed anyone they wanted. He has weapons he wants and they want to be here.

If the FO fails to get these deals done... Does he quietly accept that the Bengals Front Office is never going to put a competitive team around him?

Expect even more drama than the last off-season. This is what we call an "inflection point". As much as it's a chance for Katie to step up and show her job as GM isn't a byproduct of a fortunate birth, it's also a moment in time where Katie can truly cement her reputation as an incompetent dinosaur who couldn't run a Pop Warner team. I'm rooting for the former, expecting the latter.

My sincere hope is there is a flurry of positive activity in this regard in the very near future.

However, and more realistically, my head tells me it will drag out seemingly forever including hurt feelings and players exiting stage left.  My order of probability is as follows: 1) Chase - if not then don't bother fielding a team since you'll have no fans left... 2) Hendrickson - dude should have been DPOY and was 50% of our defense this past year... 3) Tee - really want it to happen but not optimistic since he's a game changer... 4) - Gesicki - I think some team will significantly overpay, e.g. other recent TE's that left after Joe showcased them.

Please, please, please get ALL these contracts done!

Trey's old and playing on inflated numbers. He might be traded

Higgins is a possibility but I think that he likely sees that he can make a ton more elsewhere and is franchised and traded

Gesicki is back at about 10-14 total over 2 years

Chase is the highest paid non QB and back.

I agree with your order of likelihood of the team getting new deals done. They should re-sign Tee before they have to use the tag. If they can't get a deal done by the start of free agency, they should just trade him. Likewise, they should try to re-sign Gesicki before free agency opens. He'll likely want to see what else is out there and it may well be more than the team wants to pay. But if Tee doesn't re-sign Gesicki is even more important as a big body receiver.

Chase seems likely to get a new deal though the front office will act like it was some Herculean task instead of simply copying the Jefferson deal. Hendrickson is a question mark. The team is never proactive but they seem reluctant to get it done. Teams can't pay out 2025 cap money until the new league year starts in a month. But good and better teams are getting deals lined up now.

Most of Treys sacks came against bad teams and he's one of the worst run defenders in the league

Unlike other sack leaders who got all of theirs against the Eagles, somehow, apparently.

Unless you can provide that every sack artist was better than Trey

by your evaluations then it matters not

Every damn team in the league would start him..

He's our Only True Rusher no matter how you want to degrade his performances

I imagine this is the case for most of the top guys, I imagine most of them get their sacks against lesser competition.

Nah... I'm sure Myles Garrett sees a scrub lined up across from him and thinks, "Whoah, I'd better not try and get too many sacks today! Someone might accuse me of inflating my numbers!" In fact, there are lousy Tackles that only play when Trey Hendrickson is on the field because they would hate for anyone else to inflate their numbers.

Trey Hendrickson should be ashamed of himself.

Yeah, Myles Garrett was probably sad when Jonah Williams left the division.

He'd probably give up a half sack just from reading that

No Parade LOL.

reminds me when we re-signed Bobby Hart and that idiot Troy Blackburn said “what else were we supposed to do? 🤦‍♂️

lmao, its not shocking that this fanbase managed to think thats what he was saying.

id love a pie chart of this fanbases thinking, but i think the sections of "Unrealistic" "Delusional" "Makes shit up" "ignores how anything works" seems to fluctuate every day.

what he said was "jesus christ, we signed a guy who is alright, we had fucking nothing on the roster, there is still the draft and free agency, we gave a vet a average vet deal, wtf are you crying about, its fucking march"

for the exact quote:

what he said was....

Quote

""For those who say you shouldn’t have signed Bobby Hart, who is going to play right tackle? Who? Oh, maybe you’ll draft one in the third round and he’ll come on. Really? You’re going to bet your season on that? We may still draft somebody. We haven’t had the draft yet. But you just can’t criticize. In our business you have to solve the problem. If you’re not going to play him, tell me who? Trent Brown at $17 million? Really? A seventh-round draft pick? ... We can’t go to WalMart and buy off the shelf. A high quality starting right tackle? That doesn’t exist (in free agency). You have to deal in the universe of options you have. We ended up signing eight guys. That’s probably above average. Were they perfect? You’re not going to get perfect ..."

which is all accurate.  and bobby was a 68.7 pass block grade in 2019, on 1,086 snaps. they paid an average RT performing player an average performing RT salary. got the two best years of his life out of him (as average as they were) and dropped his ass as soon as they needed to.

they also proceeded to draft a Tackle a month later in the draft.

When they signed hart there were other tackles we could have signed - yes it would have been pricey - but we could have actually improved the line. Blackburns commenst are just dumbass when addressing this situation from a fanbase perspective. "Maybe you will draft one in the third round"? LOL. Or maybe drfat a gurad in the second or fourth round and start those 2 who are total fails? Point is, he should not have even opended his mouth OR should have said we are continuing to work to improve the team. How about investing more in the scouting staff then maybe a third round OL may actually work out? This guy is a PR nightmare.Glad he has essentially not spoken since then.

Definstely have time to get these guys signed.

They have the cap to do it.

A few tweaks and cuts would do it..

Is it guaranteed money they don't want or haven't got to pay?

Dude... it's Troy Blackburn.  He is in a position to which he's publicly proven himself completely unqualified simply because he's a son in law.  We really need to debate this?
