He is in a position to which he's publicly proven himself completely unqualified simply because he's a son in law. We really need to debate this? Hearing the Whitworth story confirmed my suspicion that he and Pumpkie aren't exactly a beacon of hope going forward. Quote

They can print all the t-shirts they want but a team's culture comes from the top. Quote

sparky151 Posted February 19 Report Posted February 19 Not BS deals. Liscow backloaded the contracts so they have low 2025 cap hits. But they are all contracts where the player can see the full amount of the deal without becoming a cap casualty unless his play drops. You'll note that future years have even more cap space than 2025 in his sim, mostly due to other players contracts expiring but extending the big 4 doesn't cause any agita either this year or in the future. They're both young players in their prime. Jefferson was a 5 year deal. These are still VERY team friendly deals. Other teams are going to be willing to take on risk. If you think other teams aren't going to look at a 3 year deal for Tee and say "We can do 5 and get you twice as much money in the first year"... Quote

I am sorry but a competent NFL GM can not make decisions based on the Unicorn theory. Whitworth was a Unicorn. Acting as if every 35/36 year old tackle typically plays at a high level for an additional 4 is laughable. In fact, I can’t name another one not named Andrew Whitworth. The Rams were a few players away from competing for a title, they went all in. The Bengals were 6-9-1 and still had Andy Dalton as our QB. There was zero reason to invest in a 35 year old OT, ZERO. Ja'Marr is 3 years away from the open market. If he's offered a deal that makes him the highest paid WR in the league, he'll sign it. Otherwise, he's playing for 22 mil this year, 26 mil in 2026, and 31 mil in 2027. Likewise with Tee, if he gets offered a multi-year deal averaging more than the tag number with 40+ mil in guaranteed money, he'll sign it. 47 minutes ago, SF2 said: I am sorry but a competent NFL GM can not make decisions based on the Unicorn theory. GMs should know their own team's players. Apparently Les Sneed knew Whitworth's abilities better than Blackburn. That doesn't reflect well on the Bengals. 41 minutes ago, BlackJesus said: Lol. Chase isn't going to get 40 mil and he'll sign a big extension this offseason that's a bit more than Jefferson got. 23 minutes ago, BlackJesus said: There's nothing wrong with giving Hendrickson a 4 year extension as long as the team can get out of it easily enough after a couple of seasons. 1 Quote

No reason to pay a 36 year old tackle when you don’t have a QB or are close to a title. 1 1 Quote
