March 6Mar 6 comment_1788609 I'm sure Trey's agent is saying he wants 36 mill a year (Crosby's deal) as he beat him in sacks. For Trey that would be an overpay that the Bengals shouldn't do. If another team wants to pay him that amount, good for him and they can trade us a late first / early 2nd rd pick for the privilege. 😎

March 6Mar 6 comment_1788615 Keep these 3 together and this team will win a Super Bowl eventually. All other player losses are survivable in my view.

There's nothing to lose by playing chicken with the team right now on the values. He has some leverage until the 2nd day of the draft, so they should use it.

March 6Mar 6 comment_1788622 Trey hasn’t said a word—the Bengals tossed out the “go look around” permission. But slowly it turns…as it does on every player who challenges the Bengal FO…soon he will be the antichrist to fans/media, and “easily replaceable” Then it will be Tee’s turn to face the Hate Squads. Uno?

He said he wanted a new deal or to be traded. When he still has 1 year left on his contract. The Bengals could have told him to kick rocks and play out his last year. Old school Mike would have. But maybe Katie is being nice and letting him see what teams will trade for him.
March 7Mar 7 comment_1788630 He also said he loves the Bengals and would love to stay. Maybe old school MB will return and say: play your contract out. Beats the eventual 3rd round pick If you are looking for the quick trip to Lombardi Land this season, draft picks aren’t going to do it.

Sort of a "I really love it here, so give me a 100% raise so we can stay friends, or send me somewhere else where I can make twice as much". Like um, excuse me motherfucker. You are under contract! You don't get to make the terms of the deal and wrap them in hollow praise. He willingly extended for his current deal. Nobody forced him to take the safe bet against injury that he did.
March 7Mar 7 comment_1788637 And you are straight-up right: he did sign the extension. He is still under contract. So forget about this trade rubbish, and politely say “see you in July”

Back at the Senior Bowl, Duke agreed that Trey had outplayed his current contract and was due a raise. So outrage about not honoring contracts is silly. It's a negotiation and Trey has some cards to play. The team has more but if they are serious about going far in the playoffs, they should get the deals done before free agency opens next Wednesday and preferably before the tampering period officially begins on Monday and ideally before the tampering period actually begins on Saturday. But Bengals front office doesn't do well under time pressure.

March 7Mar 7 comment_1788660 I would guess Trey wants to top this list ... But he doesn't deserve to. Ja'Marr however does.

Because bad luck and a terrible defensive scheme kept them out of the playoffs last year. They were pretty obviously the 3rd of 4th best team in the AFC and we should expect them back there with or without Trey

"bad luck" like not having a defensive line or anyone that could tackle. Just a roll of the dice. I agree though, we should expect them to be right back at .500 and watching "lesser" teams like Denver or the Chargers from the couch.
March 7Mar 7 comment_1788669 20 minutes ago, T-Dub said: barely broke .500. This team was like 2 rigged ref calls and 3 fluke plays from winning the division and likely making the Super Bowl. If they play that season 10 more times they make the playoffs the other 9. And if they snuck into the playoffs they would have routed the AFC even without any defense.
March 7Mar 7 comment_1788670 The kind of 1/1,000 fluke shit that happened to the Bengals last year was not typical. Last play PIs. Fumbles while crossing the goalline. Botched snaps on winning fgs. Missed holds on 2 pt conversions. This was not a team that was far away. They can use the 35 mill Trey wants on 3-4 new defensive starters. 🤓

They're doing a decent job of cutting some dead weight in salaries, but when do we get to the part where they reinvest it? I thought it was supposed to go to these 4 guys primarily. Instead we've got one tagged and another on the trade block. Gotta say though, I'm not with this "bad luck" stuff. They were unfocused and unprepared through the first 2/3rds of the season and it cost them. Blaming luck is a cop out. Play better next time and take luck out of the equation. Fate or the refs didn't cost them the season, that was all on the coaches, players, and management. No excuses.
