On day 3 they can get Terrence Ferguson from Oregon or Caden Prieskorn from Ole Miss. Those guys can both block and catch. They aren't top notch route runners like Warren or Fannin, but can get open as option 4.

With all the holes on this defense, we shouldn't even be looking to draft any TEs.

I'm ok with a free agent though, like Mo Alie-Cox from Indy.

As for Gesicki, I view him as WR3, not even a TE.

I want to fill the holes via free agency so we can draft any position we want. Agreed that TE isn't a big need but we shouldn't exclude it either, especially if Gesicki leaves.

I'd rather have a TE at 17 than a WR, draft board aside.  Either way it's another target for Joe but a TE might also keep him upright when they're not getting the ball.

Raiders are putting Meyer up for trade, but it wasn't worth posting the link. Decent TEs are a dime a dozen. Not worth giving anything up for.

Also helps disguise the offense.

They should see if they can trade Pratt for him straight up.  Maybe add in a late 2026 draft pick if needed.  See if a change of location is good for both players.

The Raiders have a lot of cap space because a lot of their players are free agents. That includes all 3 of their starting LBs and both safeties. They want to re-sign Spillane and Moehrig but I'd think either Pratt or Stone would be suitable trades for their backup TE.

Hell, give them both. Bengals don't need either and it saves lots of cap space (half of Tee's salary this year).

Yeah, he's so good they replaced him the year after he was drafted.

The point is that Mayer is both a good blocker and receiver. Nobody disputes that Bowers is better. But Mayer is probably better than All, who was in line for more snaps in year 2 until he got hurt. It will save the Bengals from having to use a draft pick for a TE this season and gives the offense more options. Pitcher supposedly wants to play more from 12 personnel so this would help with that too.

How are they at G, I think Pratt and Volson for Mayer.....

I would love to get Mayer, but I think he's a guy who gets traded for a pick.

I don't think Mayer's trade value is very high at the moment. He was a top prospect in 2023 but hasn't made much of an impression in Vegas. He missed 6 games last year for an unspecified personal issue. He still has 2 years left on a rookie deal but this is a good class for TEs so a team can get 4 years from a rookie this year. If Deebo Samuel is worth a late 5th rounder, then Mayer is probably a 7th rounder. It would be good business for the Raiders if they can trade their backup TE for a starter at LB or FS.

IMHO there’s no way in he77 Mayer is/was (probably) better than All. But with All getting hurt and unavailable, I wouldn’t be opposed to Mayer for a late pick.

That was my take as well. It was obvious after he was cleared for training camp that the coaching staff thought (and hopefully still think) that All was going to be a special TE. Like maube he was there 2nd best draft pick behind only Mims.

Mayer was an early 2nd round pick. All was a mid 4th rounder. The rest of the league certainly rated Mayer higher. Missing 6 games for a personal issue is a big red flag. It sort of smacks of drug rehab. So I don't think it will take a lot to acquire him in trade. But the Bengals would have to know what it was about.

I am betting it was Mental Health.

Could be. Doesn't that include drug and alcohol rehab? Regardless of the specifics, any team trading for him would want to know if the issue is resolved or if his ongoing treatment impacts his playing career.

His personal issues has to be thoroughly delved into.

Wonder why the Raiders want to rid themselves of Mayer in a rookie deal.

Something smells there..
