Are you crazy?

Pickman was obviously framed by the NFL in order to take the spotlight off of Hines Ward.

The whole thing is a set up orchestrated by the NFL.

How could I forget!

The league's personal conduct policy is not in effect during the lockout. The commissioner has hinted he will apply it retroactively once the lockout ends but the union could easily make the case that's an unfair labor practice. I'd expect the league to have to concede that it has no power to discipline players while it isn't paying them. The Bengals can't make any personnel moves until the lockout ends so they will have a chance to hear Jones' side of events. They should do that anyway before cutting him. In other words Jones chose a good time to misbehave, if he did.

The end for Pacman?
July 10, 2011

I woke up to the news that Adam Jones -- The Artist Formerly Known as Pacman -- had been arrested.

I woke up thinking I have seen this movie before.

Jones was arrested in Cincinnati early Sunday morning following an incident in a bar. Jones reportedly had to be physically restrained and was causing quite a scene. In other words, the Bengals cornerback was back to being Pacman, not Adam.

His arrest came about 24 hours after Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was busted for DUI in Georgia.

Though we don't know for sure how things will be enforced, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has stated that players will still be subject to review and discipline under the personal-conduct policy for violations during the lockout. That could mean big, big trouble for Jones.

Maybe even Strike Three.

Jones is no stranger to trouble -- six arrests before last night since Tennessee ignored everyone's advice and took him early in the 2005 draft. He missed all of 2007 due to league suspension. He failed again with the Cowboys but was a good citizen last year at this time for the Bengals, claiming his past was behind him and he was a new man, getting married and staying focused on turning his career around.

Jones played five games last year for the Bengals, notching 11 tackles and an interception. He was hurt in Week Seven at Atlanta, and later underwent surgery for a herniated disk in his neck. He was wearing a neckbrace in his mugshot.

His latest incident is more bad news for the Bengals, maybe the only franchise actually capable of having a terrible offseason during a lockout. These guys need football -- and resolution to their lingering issues -- and they need it soon.

Cornerback has suddenly become a huge question for a Bengals' depth chart that was once so heavily stocked just last training camp. Adam Jones indicated in a Channel 9 interview Sunday following his disputed arrest in a Cincinnati bar that he "just had," surgery on the neck he injured last season, opening up speculation about his medical availability for this season. Jones was wearing a neck brace and told the station he'd been in it for four weeks.

"I just had surgery. So why would I be resisting arrest?" Jones asked the camera.

According to The Cincinnati Enquirer, Jones and agent Peter Schaffer are vehemently denying the charges of disorderly conduct while intoxicated and resisting arrest stemming from an incident at the Scene Bar in downtown Cincinnati at 2:35 a.m. Sunday. Schaffer told the paper Jones could file charges against police.

Jones suffered a herniated neck disk Oct. 24 in Atlanta and missed the rest of the season when he underwent surgery shortly after he took a shot in the neck on a punt return in the game against the Falcons. Since the March 11 lockout, Jones hasn't been allowed to rehab with the Bengals or have any contact with the team. He said before the lockout that he was hoping to get rid of the neck collar at some point in the spring and that he expected to be ready for training camp if it started on time on July 28.

And he did participate in helmet-less voluntary drills last month, according to media reports. But his comments to Channel 9 Sunday about a recent surgery and the presence of a neck brace now raise questions about his ability to at least begin this season with two neck surgeries so close together.

The Bengals had no comment on the arrest as they wait for the legal process to play out.

Schaffer, Jones' agent, told The Enquirer that another female threw a punch at his wife while they were celebrating his wife's birthday with neighbors and Jones told police that he wanted to file charges. When witnesses said Jones "uttered some profanities," Schaffer said Jones was arrested and when his client offered to take a breathalyzer, one wasn't given.

"He did not do anything wrong. For him to go through this is a shame," Schaffer told the paper. "He's doing the right thing by not taking the law in his own hands. Adam has done a great job of changing his image and turning his whole life around. We will explore every possible legal action to make sure the right thing occurs."

Jones, 27, signed with the Bengals in May of 2010 after sitting out the 2009 season following a raft of legal problems that got him suspended for the 2007 season and released at the end of the '08 season from Dallas. Jones' only previous incident in Cincinnati came after the Oct. 10 game against Tampa Bay, when he was in a minor car accident and the police detained him for what turned out to be a case of mistaken identity. The next day Cincinnati police chief Tom Streicher offered private and public apologies to Jones.

The NFL has said even though it's in a lockout, the league's personal conduct policy is still in place. The Dallas Morning News reported that when Jones came back from his year suspension on Aug. 28, 2008, "he was told any further problems could result in a lifetime ban."

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has shown he'll listen to murky cases. Last year he chose not to discipline Bengals running back Cedric Benson after hearing his side of the story following an incident in which he was charged in an Austin, Texas bar.

But with Jones surfacing in a neck brace and talking about a surgery so close to training camp, he may not be available any time soon because of his medical condition.

With Adam "Pacman" Jones scheduled to appear in Hamilton County Court today over charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication, there are a couple things to point out and consider:

* The first and most important — let the legal process play itself out, especially when it comes to Jones and the Cincinnati Police Department. Many were quick to rush to judgement last year when Jones was detained following a traffic accident after the Bengals loss to Tampa Bay. A day after the arrest, the department issued an apology over the way the matter was handled.

* Even if Jones is cleared of the charges, he should expect to have a conversation with Commissioner Roger Goodell. Last year, Goodell summoned Cedric Benson to New York following his arrest where most of the discussion centered around making better decisions out in public. Goodell even suggested to Benson possibly hiring a bodyguard when he went out.

* If Jones is convicted, then the question becomes how many games could he be suspended for in violating the league's personal conduct policy? In 2008, he received four games following an incident in Dallas. However there remains the matter of how the union will contest suspensions for violating the personal conduct policy while the players were locked out.

Let the video be the judge. If it shows Jones in the wrong, then so be it but why did the police not even question the female who alledgedly threw the punch ?

In the state of Kentucky, a police offer does not need to give a breathalyzer or blood test to prove public intoxication. DUI is a different matter. Don't know what Ohio has to say about this.

Whether he did something wrong on not this stuff gets really old. I like Adam and thought he made a significant difference in the games he played last year but this stuff is a joke.

this isn't pointed singularly at you, but I still don't get the big deal about Adam Jones. He never lived up to a first round talent pick, and specifically last year he only played in 5 games amassing 14 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception.

Not too bad for a #3 corner, but no one should be expecting this guy to adequately come in and be the #2 corner, even if he had a squeaky clean off-the-field record and wasn't coming off of a major injury.

It's the NFL's policy that drives the circus. The NFL insist on enforcing their own justice to protect the image of the league. That is their right.

By associating off the field incidents with play time and possible punishments for the team, the league indirectly creates more interest and speculation over such incidents. It's silly.

This sounds like a bar fight. Not excusing it and not saying the league shouldn't be protective of their league's image. However, am I as a fan of the NFL really that concerned over a bar fight? Nope, not until it creates a hole on the depth chart.

I would hope the NFL would get a clue on this. If the United States Justice system says an individual is free or whatever then why can't they play football? It's not like you are asking them to handle cash, watch childeren, supervise teenagers, operate heavy machinery etc.

It's all done in the name of public image. Their policy creates more interest etc to the fringe NFL fan.

If you had a job paying you 700K a year and one of the requirements was to stay out of trouble, being out at a bar intoxicated well after midnight might be a bad move. Good player but has rocks for brains. Bye bye Adam.

Bengals' Adam 'Pacman' Jones arrested at downtown bar
Cornerback denies any wrong-doing
10:44 PM, Jul. 10, 2011

For the second time since signing with the Bengals, Adam “Pacman” Jones has been involved in an incident with Cincinnati police.

The Bengals cornerback was arrested outside of the Scene Ultra Lounge bar at 2:35 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Walnut Street on one count each disorderly conduct (while intoxicated) and resisting arrest.

Peter Schaffer, Jones’ agent, said that Jones was out celebrating his wife’s birthday with neighbors when another female threw a punch at Jones’ wife.

Schaffer said that Jones walked up to police and said that he wanted to file charges.

According to accounts from other witnesses, Schaffer said Jones became upset as the woman was walking away and police became more concerned about him.

After Jones uttered a couple of profanities at officers, police arrested Jones.

On the public-intoxication charge, Schaffer said that Jones volunteered to take a breathalyzer and that one was not given.

“He did not do anything wrong. For him to go through this is a shame. He’s doing the right thing by not taking the law in his own hands,” Schaffer said. “Adam has done a great job of changing his image and turning his whole life around. We will explore every possible legal action to make sure the right thing occurs.”

Schaffer did not rule out looking at legal action against police.

Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan said the team had no comment about the incident and that they would let the judicial process play out.

Because of the lockout, the Bengals cannot have any contact with Jones regarding the incident. Even with a lockout in place, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has said that the personal conduct policy still applies, which means based on prior history that Jones could be facing a suspension once the lockout is lifted if found guilty.

Jones, 27, of Atlanta also denied any wrongdoing. He told WCPO-TV outside the Hamilton County Justice Center there was no reason he was locked up.

“It’s ridiculous. … It don’t make no sense,” he said.

Jones said he has freedom of speech and can say whatever he wants to say. He denied yelling profanities. He referred to his neck brace (from a football injury) and said because of a surgery, it doesn’t make sense for him to resist arrest. He is wearing a brace in his jail mug shot.

“(The) only thing I can do is be me and do what I’m supposed to do. But I was not yelling at the police. I was not yell(ing) profanity at the police. And at the end of the day … I’m the bad guy,” he said.

Jones said via Twitter that he wasn’t drunk.

“I have a right to my opinion and the bad part I don’t (drink),” he tweeted.

Jones also tweeted he “can’t even take my girl out for her birthday.”

Cincinnati police were working a detail at 639 Walnut St. when they responded inside for a report of a fight.

Police said Jones was disorderly and shouting profanities. He was escorted outside and asked to calm down but continued being disruptive. He yelled profanities and alarmed others, police said. Police told Jones he was under arrest but he resisted, tightening his arms and pulling away.

Jones signed a two-year contract with the Bengals on May 10, 2010. He previously had been suspended multiple times by Goodell for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, including the entire 2007 season.

Since entering the league as a first-round pick with the Tennessee Titans in 2005, Jones has been questioned, named or arrested in connection with at least 14 off-field incidents. Among the charges were assault, felony vandalism, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Following a Bengals loss against Tampa Bay last Oct. 10, Jones was handcuffed and detained near Great American Ballpark Ball Park after a traffic incident and a case of mistaken identity.

A day later, Cincinnati then-Police Chief Tom Streicher apologized to Jones after a communication breakdown between the officers involved.

This past season, Jones appeared in five games before suffering a herniated disc during the fourth quarter of an Oct. 24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He had 13 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries, including one that was returned for a touchdown.

Due to the injury, Jones had neck surgery and was in a hard neck brace until late April, when he switched to a soft one. Jones is wearing a neck brace from the football injury in his jail mug shot.

Jones was cleared in late April to resume working out and participated in the team’s player-organized workouts last month in Mason and at the University of Cincinnati.

Jones was released Sunday from the Hamilton County Justice Center.

He will be arraigned Monday in Hamilton County Municipal Court.

Well, we knew we'd have a rebuttal from Jones' camp and here it is........

What do you guys think?
