Once he learns the playbook, he will be a good piece to that team.
Idk...he isn't suited for what they need, a deep threat. But it is hard to say you need a deep threat when your TE's are running down the sidelines On 20 yard fade routes. The catch by Hernandez on the sideline was a thing of beauty.
Bruschi to Ochocinco: 'Join the system, buddy'

Sep 13, 2011

You had to figure that, eventually, Twitter would get Chad Ochocinco into trouble with the Patriots.

Little did he know he'd the Patriot he'd get in trouble with is Tedy Bruschi.

In an appearance on WEEI Radio Tuesday, the former New England linebacker -- now an ESPN football analyst -- ripped into the Pats' new wide receiver for Tweeting his admiration for Tom Brady's record-setting performance Monday night in Miami. This post was on Ochocinco's Twitter account late Tuesday afternoon:
Just waking up after a late arrival,I've never seen a machine operate like that n person,to see video game numbers put up n person was WOWless than a minute ago via Seesmic Favorite Retweet ReplyChad Ochocinco

Bruschi was excpetionally agitated about it.

"Drop the awe factor, OK, Ocho, Chad, drop the awe factor," Bruschi began. "Youre not a fan, all right. youre not someone who's on another team or watching TV. You're notr an analyst. You're a part of it . They want you to be a part of it. So get with the program because obviously you're not getting it and you're tweeting because you're saying, 'It's amazing to see'? It's amazing to see because you don't understand it! You still dont understand it and it's amazing to you because you can't get it.

"Stop tweeting and get in your playbook," Bruschi raged. "Wake up! If you're just waking up now - I don't know when this was, 6 minutes ago? - get out your bed and get to the stadium and watch some film if you still think its amazing. If you're in it and you know what youre doing and you execute out there you don't think it's amazing. You know why? Because it's what you're supposed to do. All of a sudden it's second nature. 'I know i was supposed do that, yes I went 99 yards, I threw for 517 you know why? Because we're that good and that's what we're supposed to do and that's what I thought we were gonna do.' You are still in awe to be a member of the New England Patriots offense. Join the system, buddy. "

After a pause, Bruschi launched back in, saying, "They need him to be a part of that jaw dropping offense." Addressing his remarks to Ochocinco who, no doubt will hear about them, Bruschi said, "Close your mouth. Put your hand under your chin and close your jaw. Then open your eyes and watch some film. Thats what you need to do. If you're still in awe that means you don't get it because you don't understand it."
One imagines that this shot across the Ocho bow will not go unanswered.
Tedy Bruschi tees off on Ochocinco

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady generated 517 passing yards on Monday night. Subtracting the contributions from Patriots receiver Chad Ochocinco, Brady still had more than 500 yards.

On Tuesday, Ochocinco posted an item on Twitter suggesting that he was in awe of the team’s performance on offense. Former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi wasn’t in awe of Ochocinco’s tweet.

Tedy teed off on Ochocinco during a visit to WEEI, via Tom Curran of CSNNE.com.

“Drop the awe factor, OK, Ocho, Chad, drop the awe factor,” Bruschi said. “You’re not a fan, all right. You’re not someone who’s on another team or watching TV. You’re not an analyst. You’re a part of it. They want you to be a part of it. So get with the program because obviously you’re not getting it and you’re tweeting because you’re saying, ‘It’s amazing to see’? It’s amazing to see because you don’t understand it. You still don’t understand it and it’s amazing to you because you can’t get it.

“Stop tweeting and get in your playbook. Wake up! If you’re just waking up now — I don’t know when this was, six minutes ago? — get out your bed and get to the stadium and watch some film if you still think it’s amazing. If you’re in it and you know what you’re doing and you execute out there you don’t think it’s amazing. You know why? Because it’s what you’re supposed to do. All of a sudden it’s second nature. ‘I know I was supposed do that, yes I went 99 yards, I threw for 517. You know why? Because we’re that good and that’s what we’re supposed to do and that’s what I thought we were gonna do.’ You are still in awe to be a member of the New England Patriots offense. Join the system, buddy.”

So what’s the solution? “They need him to be a part of that jaw dropping offense,” Bruschi said. “Close your mouth. Put your hand under your chin and close your jaw. Then open your eyes and watch some film. That’s what you need to do. If you’re still in awe that means you don’t get it because you don’t understand it.”

Bruschi’s attitude comes from years in the Patriots’ system. So it’s fair to conclude that at least some of the players on the team — and maybe the head coach — agree with Bruschi’s attitude. And so it’ll be interesting to see how things go for Ochocinco moving forward.
Chad was never one to run precise routes, either because he didn't knowforgot the route, didn't care or he was afraid he'd get cold-cocked. Carson and the Bengals made allowances because he was Chad and they were the Bengals. That won't fly with Brady or the Pats. Ocho has to conform to the system instead of vice versa and all of his warts are showing. I'm willing to bet that no one enjoys it more than Palmer. Something tells me that he is laughing his ass off at Chad's struggles.

What Chad did you watch? He was a badass route runner, and he was never afraid to get hit. He just freelanced a lot.

Bruschi's a douchebag. Chad's been in NE for less than 2 months and he expects him to know the playbook already? Not going to happen in that system. I'll always be a Chad fan. He had his selfish moments but overall he gave everything he could to this franchise. I wish him luck and have become a NE fan to some degree with him being there.

Oh yeah, Bruschi's a douchebag.

Kind of a backhanded Cincy compliment.

Bruschi is a douche. He was a mediocre LB who got lucky to land on a dynasty. He doesn't know if Chad is studying or not. A tweet takes like 4 seconds. As long as Brady has Chad's back, then I will assume everything is fine.

Chad is not a rookie. He's a 10 yr vet, rookie WRs should know by what they're doing... He looks totally lost! He knows how run routes. The thing is now translating it to different languages and formations. There's no excuse why a vet, let alone a former All-pro WR, not to have a solid grasp on this playbook, let alone being able to contribute to this offense.

He's known one set of terminology for 10 years and now going to a totally different system. His being a veteran is irrelevant to that. That's like saying a CEO would have an easier time learning Chinese than a recent college graduate just because he has been in the workforce longer.

Get your mind right, bro.

What I'm saying is...... He knows how to run routes, he knows how to get depth and how to properly break on routes... All the things rookies have to deal with coming into the league... And who says the play book is totally different, and there is no relation? You?????
More important, he SHOULD know what he has to do to get on the field, and if this was your dream job, wouldn't you have put that effort into learning instead of being on "awe"?

He should know you can't make it on talent alone. He should have AT LEAST had a package where they had special plays to get h involved, but to be targeted only 3 or 4 times in a game?!?!?

That shows Brady has no confidence in hm

Don't know who, but some dude on ESPN was saying the systems are totally different. He's been used to one system for 10 yrs and now goes to a totally different system, different terminology, different philosophies.....and he's been there for 2 months. With limited practice time.

And who says he isn't putting in the time into the playbook and watching film? YOU?????

A 9 route is a 9 route... And if a rookie can come in and learn a playbook in that short time, why can't a 10 yr pro/ All-pro?
He had less time than a rookie to learn the playbook. He was traded after the draft.

Regardless, it's unreasonable for anyone to expect him to know NE's full playbook in less than 2 months.
