Do you think we can compete now?

Recommended Posts

Even though we lost to both Piss and the Rats, I think we've proved we can compete. I said at the beginning of this season, that Dalton has "IT", and I personally think he's proved it. I think if we stay healthy, we're positioned for a few years of success, based on the first ten games of this season. What do you think?

I think the other side of the coin, is how the team responds mentally to losing a series of games. Two emotionally draining games, against Pit and Bal, I just hope the Bengals show some swagger against the Browns next week and finally stop playing down to inferior opponents. That will tell me how far this team has come.

I'm excited for the present and future. Losing Hall and Green has hurt. This team isn't THAT good yet to where they can overcome things like that easily. We also have to remember that Andy is a rookie and will occasionally play like one. What is impressive about him is his ability to recover and his fearlessness. I think it's infectious to the rest of the team.

I think we beat either Pitt or Bal next go around and manage 9 or 10 wins. Either way the future is bright from where I'm sitting.

We are for sure competitive....we have been in every single game we have played. What's our worst loss in terms of point margin this season? We lost 13-8 to the surprisingly good 49ers, by a mere touchdown to both Baltiwhore and Pissburgh, and two measly points to Denver. That's a total of 21 points in four losses....an average of 5.25 points per loss. Hell yeah we're competitive. How anyone cannot see and be excited by this young team is beyond me. They are exciting, fun to watch and are in every game...I like our chances going into the immediate future, even if we don't make the playoffs this season. Which we still can. The AFC is all weird this season.

i hope cleveland atleast splits with baltimore and steelers and we must do the same.
We better go out and blowout cleveland and beat pittsburg if we want any hope of making it to the playoffs

All we need is 4 more wins... should be Cleveland, Arizona, St. Louis, and Houston. We don't really need to beat Pitt or Balt, but it would make things easier.

Bung, you're hitting where I am. We have players from every one of the last four drafts contributing, and quiet as it's kept, we have a number of really good, highly rated players that we've picked up. I like the nucleus on both sides, it's now developing or drafting a couple of playmakers. I like this team. But you knew that, man!

I agree with this 100%. I'd also like to add that if they played that 3rd quarter like they did the 4th we would have won that game, with or without Green. I don't what playbook they were using in that 3rd quarter but those trick plays need a little more practice before you go tossing them into a game against a team like Baltimore. I don't remember who it was that was supposed to toss it back to Andy but those 2 were definitely not on the same page, and I seem to toss most of that blame on Dalton. He wasn't where the ball was supposed to be going. I think those little things need to be ironed out before trying them in a game situation.

I'm also wondering why Marvin wanted that Hail Mary at the end of the 2nd quarter. There were 32 seconds left, plenty of time to get off another play, possibly a FG if they could have gotten it down there far enough. I didn't agree with that last second desperation play with 2 quarters left to play.

it was Bernard Scott. And it was his fault, not Dalton's. Scott's pass was off, it was supposed to be a backwards pass and it ended up being a forward pass, which is why there wasn't a fumble called on the play. I liked the creativity of the play, but I thought it was a horrible call on 3rd and 10. If you're going to call that, you call it on first down.

I also didn't mind the option play. Dalton has to pitch it better for sure, but the line blocked it well and Dalton made the right read, he just made a bad pitch.

Agree on the hail mary. It was 3d and 8, get the first down then take a shot.

There is no doubt we can compete----but I want to win. Losing back to back AFCN games sucks. Especially when we had chances to win both of them. Playoff football is around the corner and right about now is when the good teams start playing their best football. We need to pick it up!

It's so easy to get caught up in the hype, but in reality, none of us expected to do this well. This was a building season, watch and see what happens. This has turned into beautiful surprise! Yeah, we lost to Shitsburgh and Ratbirds, BUT, this team didn't quit! They didn't fold like the "old" Bengals would have done. Today's game would have been over in the 3rd quarter if they were the "old" Bengals... "Old" Bengals WE ARE NOT. This team competes... we are a few select players away from being something special... mark my words.

And it doesn't sting so bad losing to teams we weren't expected to beat in the first place.

I don't think... I KNOW this team can compete. If you are good up front, you can win. The OL has been better than I thought, and the DL is stout.

They have a potentially great group of offensive skill guys with Andy, AJ, Gresham, and Simpson, who for all intents and purposes is a rookie from a PT standpoint.

They have 3 good young specialists (Nugent, Huber, and Harris) on STs, and in the back 7 on D, they have a set of young LBs who will get only better together, and some intriguing guys on the back end with an injured All, Adam Jones, Nelson, Mays, etc. (and admittedly, some room to improve).

They're young, hungry, and aren't a bunch of egomaniacs. They do, (and will) made mistakes. But they'll learn from it, and continue to get better. They fight 'til the end.

What's not to like? I think the future is really bright... And this year, I fully expect them to be in the hunt for a playoff spot until the very end.

At this point I expect to make the playoffs. We should beat Cleveland next week along with Arizona and St Louis. Houston may be tough but we'll see how they like an outdoor game in December in the North without their QB. The Bengals may be favored vs Baltimore at home and I wouldn't be surprised if we beat the Stoolers in Pittsburgh. For some reason we play them better on the road. If we stay healthy, we're in good shape this season.

Actually the bucaneers went 10-6 once and didnt make the playoffs,so did the giants i think. We have to win 11 games in my eyes
