Good value in the third round. Probably not going to be a huge playmaker, but should be able to come in and compete for a spot. 4.67 40 time scares me a little, but he put up good stats at not a great passing team. I'll be interested to see how he performs.

I've seen a lot of Sanu, and he plays faster than that.

Where was Sanu rated before the combine?

If I recall correctly it has late first early second. He dropped cause of the 40 time. If we are going to get a value guy I like that we got one that dropped because of a 40 time instead of because of because of doubt regarding his skills on the field.

He'll get an opportunity to make plays with AJ getting double. Hopefully hes a good WCO fit.

April 27, 201283rd pick- Cincinnati selected Rutgers WR Mohammad Sanu. Evaluators said he was possession type receivers, hard to tackle, and played well in traffic. Good body control, ordinary burst and speed. Last season as a junior he set Rutgers and Big East records by catching 115 passes.

Some background-
Sanu's father, Samuel Sanu, was a member of the Sierra Leone national soccer team, and that was Mohamed's first sport. Born in New Brunswick, Sanu was moved to Sierra Leone, Africa, to Sayreville, N.J. to Atlanta and back to Sayreville before fourth grade. When his mother, Koroma, moved to Sierra Leone for good, Sanu, then only 11, was raised by his then-24-year-old sister, Haja, who legally adopted him. Koroma opened a beauty supply company (she now runs a wedding supply company) and quickly became a respected elder in Calaba Town, located in the east end of Freetown. Koroma runs an orphanage for 40 boys ages 12-18 who lost their parents in the wars that threatened to tear apart her country. She also oversees a college scholarship fund. Next year, at the request of local elders, she will run for a seat in Parliament. Komora spends about seven months a year in African and returns to the States for football season.

Someone pulled a prank on him and pretended to be representing the Bengals. This happened in round one and Sanu's agent even tweeted he was taken by the Bengals with the 21st pick.

Bengals finally grab their WR

Cincinnati badly needed a WR and Rutgers Mohamed Sanu (6-2, 211) slipped to them in the 3rd round at the 83rd overall pick. Sanu set the Big East record for most receptions in a single season (115) and arrives with a reputation as a precise route runner to place opposite home-run hitter WRA.J. Green.

Well, let's hope his hands are as good as I have read. I think he's going to have his share of contested balls.

One of the stranger stories to come out of the first round of the draft concerned Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu.

With Cincinnati on the clock for the 27th pick, Sanu was prank called by someone claiming to be a Bengals representative informing Sanu that the team was making him their pick. The Bengals wound up taking Wisconsin guardKevin Zeitler while Sanu and his family looked on in shock.

Fast forward to Friday night and the Bengals on the clock for the 82nd pick. Sanu’s phone rang again, but this time it was actually the Bengals doing the calling. They selected Sanu with that pick and putting a fitting coda on an odd little chapter of the 2012 Draft.

It’s particularly good for Sanu because he is going to have every opportunity to earn playing time with the Bengals. They are looking for a reliable option opposite A.J. Green and Sanu could fit the bill. He’s not exceptionally fast, but he’s strong with good hands and he runs routes well. Green can stretch the field and Sanu can work underneath to give Andy Dalton targets on multiple levels this season.

Sanu will fit in well with the [s]#[/s]Bengals. He'll make the tough catches over the middle with Green stretching the field.

Draft mag had him going 26. Compared to Jordy Nelson. Rated late first/early second

Here's the thing on 40 times...you have to remember...Anquan Boldin ran a slow-as-shit 40 time. Sometimes, other stuff can make up for it. I haven't seen him play, but from the accounts, with his size and game speed, he may be one of those guys that doesn't need crazy speed.

No joke: Sanu gets picked by Bengals

This will go down as the feel-good story of the draft in the AFC North: Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu was taken by the Bengals in the third round, about 24 hours after a prank led him to believe he was taken by Cincinnati in the first round.

While Sanu would've preferred not to be a victim of a practical joke, he couldn't have asked for a better situation. He will get a chance to become the No. 2 wide receiver for a team that went to the playoffs.

Sanu is a good compliment to A.J. Green. He is a competitive receiver with size who isn't afraid to go across the middle. Perhaps the biggest plus is his route running, which was a weak spot among the Bengals' wide receiver group last season.

He finished as the Big East's all-time leader in receptions with 210. Last season, Sanu caught 115 passes for 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns for Rutgers.

It had to be a moment of celebration as well as disbelief for Sanu. You know Sanu had to wonder if it was really the Bengals calling him this time.

In the end, Sanu ended this night with a smile.
