Was wrist wrap a coincidence, or did Joe Burrow have a pre-existing wrist injury?

The basic facts, with the application of common sense, point to an inescapable series of conclusions.

First, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had a wrist injury before Thursday night’s game.

Second, he wore a protective or supportive wrap on it while traveling to Baltimore.

Third, the Bengals posted — and then deleted — a video showing the wrap on his wrist.

Fourth, he didn’t tell the team about the injury and/or the team hid it from the injury report.

Fifth, he aggravated the injury during Thursday night’s game.

The naysayers will insist it was a brand new injury, and that the wrap was all one big coincidence. Or maybe it was some sort of a tool for manipulating his tablet.

The manner in which the Bengals handled the situation after the game does not support any and all excuses that could be made.

For starters, Burrow did not talk to reporters. At all. Only players with concussions are exempt from doing so.

He should have spoken. He had no reason not to speak. Unless he didn’t want to be grilled about the wrap on his wrist — and perhaps didn’t want to lie about it. Or, maybe even worse for the team, tell the truth about it.

Backup Jake Browning, who finished the game for Burrow, did face reporters. He said he knew nothing about a wrist wrap.

“I had no idea,” Browning said. “Everybody started asking me about this wrist thing. I had no idea why. I thought they were talking about someone else on the team.”

Coach Zac Taylor also spoke to reporters. Taylor acknowledged seeing online chatter about the wrist wrap. But he said he knew nothing about it until it showed up on social media.

“That was the first I saw anything about it,” Taylor said.

Taylor also said he had no reason to think Burrow was impaired.

“I mean, watch how he played the first half,” Taylor said. “He did everything we needed him to do.”

Until he either had a brand new injury or aggravated the existing injury.

Again, it was either a gigantic coincidence or a pre-existing injury. Given that Burrow didn’t talk to reporters, I’ll choose to conclude it wasn’t a fashion statement or a device for using one of his electronic devices while making the flight from Cincinnati to Baltimore.

The next question is whether the NFL will do anything about it. Given the current extent to which gambling and gambling money have become intertwined with football, the league definitely should. If I had to bet on that specific proposition, I’d put my money on the “nothing will happen” square.

And nothing will happen the next time. And the next. And the next. Until a major scandal regarding the worthless contents of the injury reports (and the very worthwhile inside information it creates) sparks litigation and/or prosecutions and/or regulation of the sport.

This is it right here folks, this is why the game isn't worth watching anymore, much like other sports:

That's right everyone, the important decisions should be made around how much it affects the gambling.  Oh well, it was a good run.

Right? Gambling is an entirely different game, and no NFL decision should ever be made on behalf of gamblers.

Well, Goodell does like to make important decisions with a coin flip...

Hasn’t been worth it for a very long time. Once the powers-that-be in the league decided to exchange legitimacy for being like the NBA, it was over. Now it has branched into being totally dependent on TV and advertising.

It is now a form of watered-down/score-till-you-drop/star power entertainment. It is so predictable, that cheap Harlequin novels have more depth.

Roquan Smith on Joe Burrow's Injury: 'Sometimes Things Like That Happen' Against Ravens Defense

Smith had 10 tackles in the game.

CINCINNATI — Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith offered a blunt answer when asked about Joe Burrow's wrist injury on Thursday night. The Bengals lost Burrow in the second quarter and went on to lose the game to Baltimore 34-20.

"He's a great player got a lot of respect for the way he plays the game, but hey, injuries are part of the game," Smith said to on the postgame broadcast. "So, when you play the Ravens' D sometimes things like that happen."

Smith finished second on the team with 10 tackles as the Ravens sacked Cincinnati's QBs a combined five times to help take a bigger lead in the AFC North at 8-3.

The NFL is investigating why the Bengals did not list QB Joe Burrow on their injury report when the team posted a picture of him wearing a device on his wrist Wednesday night and he appeared to be hampered by the injury early in the Thursday night game that he later left, the league confirmed today.  The initial picture of Burrow wearing a device that looked like a soft cast on his thumb was posted by the Bengals, only to be deleted later. The NFL routinely looks into matters of compliance with the Injury Report policy, and will do so in this instance as well. Teams can be fined or even potentially lose a draft pick.

NFL probes Bengals' injury reporting amid Joe Burrow's ailment, deleted X video: reports

The NFL reportedly launched an investigation into the Cincinnati Bengals over their injury report when it came to Joe Burrow, after the star quarterback left Thursday night’s game with a wrist injury.

Burrow was not listed on the team’s injury report going into the game against the Baltimore Ravens. The team posted a video on X, which appeared to show him having a soft cast on his right hand, but later deleted the post.

On Cincinnati’s touchdown drive in the second quarter, Burrow was seen in clear pain as he threw a touchdown pass to Joe Mixon. He was replaced on the next drive.

"It looks like he sprained his wrist. Felt it on that touchdown pass," Bengals coach Zac Taylor said after the game.

According to ESPN, the league takes injury report violations seriously, and if teams are found to violate the rule, the punishment comes in the form of fines or docked draft picks. The NFL reportedly warned teams in the spring meetings about reporting injuries properly.

The Bengals did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

(Edited out the game blah blah blah... we know it already hsh)

The Bengals will probably be fined because the lack of info on Joe's wrist affected the line on the game and that's a big no no...the NFL was founded by men who were heavily involved in gambling, like a syndicate of organized crime if you will..so yeah, they care a lot about how injury info affects the line for gambling on games.

🤣 c'mon man....why do you think the NFL and all sports leagues encourage gambling, it's a huge source of revenue and increases interest in the games. When two small market teams play a preseason game, why do think it gets national TV coverage and people gamble on the game?

Class action lawsuit against Bengals coming, Barstool Sports founder says

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Barstool Sports founder and owner Dave Portnoy says he is filing a class action lawsuit against the Cincinnati Bengals and NFL.

Portnoy posted a screenshot around 7:30 p.m. Thursday of a $120,000 bet he placed on the Bengals to cover the four-point spread against the Baltimore Ravens.

Just a few hours later, star quarterback Joe Burrow left the game with an injury to his right wrist.

The injury caught the spotlight not just for what it meant to the Bengals’ season, but also because of the possibility Cincinnati knew Burrow might have been injured before the game.

The Bengals tweeted out a photo on Wednesday of Burrow walking off the team plane. In the photo, you can see a wrap around his right wrist. The Bengals tweet was later deleted. Some on social media have claimed it was an iPad glove on his wrist rather.

With ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting that the NFL is now investigating the Bengals to determine if Cincinnati violated the league’s injury report policy, Portnoy wrote on X that he is filing a class action lawsuit against the franchise.

“There is no shot I put 100k hard earned dollars on the Bengals if I knew Joe Burrow was injured going into the game,” Portnoy wrote.

It's called gambling buddy...those are the breaks...pun intended..what a crybaby, nobody forced you to make a bet...clown.

But the Bengals will probably get fined because it's the Bengals and they bungled the cover-up, shouldn't have deleted the video.
