I don't get it.

So, a few years ago the Bengals were (somewhat rightfully) dragged for using an old cart as a makeshift podium for press conferences. Reporters would put their mics and phones on it to record answers so it was dubbed "the mic cart". Haven't seen it in a while, but I think the "BENGALS" helmet is the easter egg so to speak...throwbacks coming?

Past two years we have 3. We need at least two more imo. And that's assuming Murphy Jenkins and Jackson all work out. (Still need another 3 Tech that is good at pass rush, since Jenkins is more a run stopper type, another DE to complement Muphy as well)

Another key point is - a team should never assume every high pick (top 3 rounds) will work out. Over time, a 50% success rate is good so you really do need to keep drfating at the Ol and DL spots. I think the bengals fall for thier own drfat hype - "he will work out" kind of thing. It was prettu clear after year 2 that Cartman and Zach Carter were busts. No need to wait longer, move on. Add more in the draft and in FA.

Zach Carter, cut by the Bengals last week, has signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2.

I'd have to look it up but I think it depends on position as far as which ones have a higher chance of being successful. Both Lines and QB are not as high as everything else, and then you start looking at what positions are more successful based on what round you take them. You can get a decent CB in 2 but only towards the top of 2, your chances are far better at getting a GOOD CB in 1, for instance. DT's can be found later, OGs past the first round, LBs, and RBs past the first round, S in the first or 2nd, TEs later. Once you get past round 4 every position usually ends up just being role players at best.

Miss a Giants week thread so put this here

https://www.fox19.com/2024/10/11/bengals-wont-face-giants-star-malik-nabers-sunday-night-football-report/

Bengals won’t face Giants star Malik Nabers on Sunday Night Football: Report

NEW YORK (WXIX) - The Bengals secondary will not have to worry about star rookie Malik Nabers on Sunday Night Football.

The New York Giants announced Nabers will not play in the primetime matchup at Metlife Stadium, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, is missing his second straight game due to a concussion.

Like Ja’Marr Chase, Nabers looks to be the next great wide receiver from LSU.

In four games this season, Nabers has 35 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns.

It's hard to believe they randomly sat a throwback helmet on it for no reason at all, but who knows. Maybe that was their way of implying the cart has been in storage a LONG time, but that wouldn't really make sense either.

They can't do throwbacks this year, of course, but I'd love to see them once or twice a year. No one under 50 remembers them being used, but some of us have fond memories of them and that era.

In looking at players who entered the NFL either thru the draft or as UDFA's from 1970 thru 2019 (allowing those recent players 5 years to establish themselves as Pro Bowl-level), here's a position-by-position breakdown of which rounds future Hall of Fame and Pro Bowl players were drafted. The draft went from 17 rounds (1970-76), to 12 rounds (1977-92), to 8 rounds (1993), to the current 7 rounds (1994-current), so I've grouped draftees from Rounds 8 thru 17, plus undrafted free agents, together.

This is really interesting data. Obviously first rounders are showing to be more successful, but it looks like you can get DEs in 2 that are still having ssuccess and LBs and Safteys in 2 as well.

This makes me want a 1st round CB even more now.

I've always thought there should (or was) a subjective element to that call when the QB is essentially a RB on 50% of all the plays, but it seems like the refs are slanting it in the wrong direction.  IMHO, the more mobile and RB threat a QB is, the less that penalty and similar should be.

The NFL announced the Bengals Week 8 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Oct. 27 is now set to kick off at 1 p.m. on CBS.

If our game had remained at 4:25, no one would have watched the Chefs get beaten by the Las Vegas Sois.

Also at 1:00 Rats at Browns... lots of scoreboard watching at Paycore.

Giants at Pittstrash on Sunday night.

Chase Brown vs. his twin brother Sidney Brown in this matchup. Another story line to follow.

I have a feeling that I may be watching this one at the bar.
