No help from the useless OilTans…down 24-7 to the I-Colts

The focus has been on the Bengals winning out and KC beating Denver, but the deal-breaker that is not being discussed much is that Indianapolis is going to win out. Their last three opponents (Titans, Giants, Jaguars) are all in shambles and won't put up a fight.

Even if IND had a 75% chance to win each game, the chances of winning three is below 50%.  (1 - .75³ = ~ 0.422) so they're more likely to lose at least once than go 3-0.

They nearly blew a 38-7 lead to TEN, at home, holding on to win 38-31. They're completely hit and miss.  They could dominate NYG, or Richardson could throw 4 INTs and get blown out. And even when JAX has had bottom-feeder seasons they have frequently beaten IND.  The Colts can easily lose either of their remaining games....

And besides, if we were better at football and miss out because we depended on other teams to lose, that's on us.  We control the games we play, we own the situation we're in.

Buffalo needs to wake up soon. They're trailing NE 14-0 in the 2nd.

And of course, as I'm typing this, they bust a long TD run. 14-6, pending the XP.

Gotta keep the heat on KC.

I really hope this sinks in regardless of how things break for them.  To even be in this situation with the season JB & Ja'Marr are having is an organizational failure, period.

No miracle scenario is going to change the fact that they have serious work to do this offseason and it's going to require stepping out of their familiar business-as-usual comfort zone a bit to get that done. Dismissing it as a matter of luck will land them in the same place this time next year.

They won't lose to New England. No one loses to New England. Not this season, anyway. :ninja:

This is preaching to the choir. No person with working brain cells would consider even a far-beyond-backing-in playoff appearance this season, as being satisfactory.

Point taken. I wish I could be that optimistic. One site has their chances against NYG at 70.5% so if JAX is similar I guess that would put them at about 50% to win out.

And then we've got MIA with three easy games remaining, as well, but I guess the similar odds apply to them.

Amazing how many teams have backed in the playoffs throughout the years but, when the Bengals have a chance all of the other teams keep winning.  How am I not surprised.  I agree with Amish but why not us being one of those teams just once backing into the playoffs.  Like gupps said in Chat, Dead Cat Bounce is back. So it seems.

Ah ya never know, TJ. This has the makings of that kind of finish for the Bengals. Might even get a little help from the NFL for all we know. They like their “stars” being in the playoffs. Having an MVP and Triple Crown winner on the sidelines isn’t what they like.

Granted, a 7th Seed isn’t going to get a ton of pub anyway—but having the two “stars” would make for a good TV draw. Much better than Anthony Richardson

Looks like our cheers will have to be on the forlorn CFT to beat the Fish next week. SF crapping the bed trying to get in the end zone…and will probably lose the battle of FG’s.

CFT still has the good defense to take out MIA. Hopefully, they are done with the DTR experiment.

Romo mentioned that the Colts have not won 3 in a row all season right now they are at 1, they would have to win their last 2 to get 3 in a row for the 1st time this year.

I hope so but I can't shake the slow return of the sense of complacency that permeates from the FO on down.

To put it a different way, where was this sudden sense of urgency 2-3 months ago?  Why did they have to get down so bad before that happened?

Unfortunately, I doubt that they are. They really need to find out what they have in DTR so unless he gets hurt, he’ll play the rest of the year.

They already know…and have known even before this season. He is one-dimensional garbage.

Agree about his play time.

When pressured, he kid looked lost out there

If imagine Watson will start next year and tell hope for some kind of life from him.

But c'mon... Lou's defense was surprisingly mediocre against a 3rd string QB and the league's worst running game. And Geno Smith had a tipped ball fall into his hands again. Heck some of our Rookie DT's even got to smell the QB's farts today. Future stars them boys.

Resign them all! Everything is fine!
