But c'mon... Lou's defense was surprisingly mediocre against a 3rd string QB and the league's worst running game. And Geno Smith had a tipped ball fall into his hands again. Heck some of our Rookie DT's even got to smell the QB's farts today. Future stars them boys.

Resign them all! Everything is fine!

Yeah it's just bad luck, no one could've foreseen players getting hurt in pro football.  No one has injuries but the Bengals.

The important thing to remember is that none of it is anyone's fault.

Too many injuries

That Mia/SF game doesn't even matter anymore does it? We need Indy to lose one of two. We need to beat the Broncos, and Stealers and Denver needs to lose against KC who will probably be playing backups, and of course lose to the Bengals.

Basically we are in if Denver loses both, we win both, and Indy loses 1 of 2.

I do not think this will happen though. Not in a million years, but if we did make the playoffs I would love to see Buffalo. Then most likely we would see KC and then Pitt or Baltiwhore.

Stranger things have happened. EDITED out something I remembered differently than was actual fact.

Miami needs to lose one more. Run the playoff machine, they are still ahead of us.

How about we do the only thing we control--whether we win or lose.  All the other stuff is is algorithms and wishing.  We got into this mess because of our substandard play, and have to live with it. In the minute chance the stars actually align and we make the dance, we ain't a SB champion, we are probably a one-and-done or a Divisional exit.

CFT still has the good defense to take out MIA. Hopefully, they are done with the DTR experiment.

Was thinking the same thing. Winston may be a turnover machine, but he's also a gun-slinger who's capable of throwing for 400 yards. DTR contributes almost nothing to their offense to offset all of the turnovers and poor decisions.

Bengals aren't making the playoffs this year. If we were good enough to be a playoff team, we wouldn't be 0-7 vs teams with winning records. Even if we win our last 2 games, we'd only be 2-7. If we were good enough for the playoffs, we'd have found a way to win one of the Ravens games, maybe not drop the snap on the attempted game-winning field goal, eh? Or not fumble the ball through the endzone vs the Pats. Etc.

Jay Morrison has a piece on the Bengal's excellent record since 1990 in the home finale of each season. He doesn't seem to notice the common thread in the Bengals beating teams with better records.

Thinking the Bengals are a playoff team is just an act of self-delusion. We've won 3 in a row because we faced 3 bad teams with terrible QBs and depleted O-lines. Not because the Bengals suddenly became a good team. The bit about us being the team nobody wants to face if we get in is hilarious.

If we do win out and Denver loses out, all we've really done is a favor for the Colts or Dolphins. Burrow had it right after the Chargers game and when we came up small coming off our bye week vs the Stoolers.

Again…what is the point?

Should they not make it…you would be correct: they are not a playoff team. And…?

Got it…that’s when the recriminations as to why begin. And the lamentations as to why they weren’t good lads and lost purposely earlier so as to gain better draft spotting.

The Cycle of NFL Fan Life.

I suppose I kind of like this in-the-moment-possibly-delusional-maybe stuff. The broken clock will still be correct twice a day.

Very good point (imho)

https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2024/12/26/nfl-star-nobody-wants-broncos-over-bengals-playoffs/

"An idea that former All-Pro and Super Bowl champion Jeff Saturday threw out this week on ESPN.

“Ain’t nobody trying to watch Bo Nix, a rookie quarterback, play over Joe Burrow,” Saturday said, according to Zack Kelberman. Everybody’s tuning in [for] Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins. … If they get in the playoffs, it’s a much better story.”

Ergo... if the NFL is as scripted as a WWE wrestling match, could we see some yellow flags blowing our way these last couple weeks?  Whattaya think, Vern?

It certainly has added some “spice” to these last weeks of the season.

As for the broken clock analogy, sadly, the Bengals (due mostly to mismanagement and suspect coaching) are more like a clock that still runs, but loses ten seconds every day…it’s actually correct only once every twelve years. 🤨

This Bengals team is a group of imposters. It's pretty obvious yet not only fans but even some outsiders just play along with it. It's like going to a job where your boss can't be fired because he's related to someone while also not good at his job.

Tilting a game or two might be doable, but tilting two Bengals games, a Chefs-Broncos game, a Colts game, and a Dolphins game might be too obvious. 😃

Means nothing insofar as affecting the Bengals…but perhaps telling that LAC playing all their starters against NEP today.

For them, is it just jockeying for seeding and whom they will play (on the road)?

Man, some of you are ready to shoot a horse if he coughs.

Is it likely that the Bengals make the playoffs? No. But I'm not ready to condemn them or congratulate them. Why are some of us so eager to reach the destination - this is a journey. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon. And I'm not ready to call the race at the 18 mile mark.

We play two playoff teams in must win games over the next two weeks. We have our chance to prove we belong. If the doom sayers are right, then it won't be an issue by 8:30 tonight.

But even for this team of "imposters" - games are one possession affairs. The teams that are only one game ahead of us have their problems too. They have their own division matchups that are never gimmes.

We have to beat the Broncos and Stealers. That will prove if we belong or not. If we don't belong, we won't have a chance anyway. Let the process play itself out instead of digging a grave every time Who-Dey looks a little tired.
