I think Higgins on the open market makes over 30 maybe 35. The Market is what it is. I don't think you should invest so much in your WR corps, especially for a player who is injured often. I think the prudent thing to do would be a Franchise and trade.

I don't think any team is going to pay him like Tyreek Hill or Ceedee Lamb. Tee has never approached the productivity of those guys or AJ Brown, etc. He misses a lot of games which is why Spotrac estimated his market value at only 20 mil. His per game numbers when he played were good but it got depreciated for missed time. Or to put it another way, if the Bengals tagged Tee and were willing to trade him, I don't think we'd get close to what KC got for Hill.

Very reasonable argument but IDK if Tee and his agent will see it that way.  If they go much higher than that I hope it's tied to escalators like # of starts & other performance stats.  Guaranteed money may well be a sticking point.

Its tough to know because the market will be so bare this offseason.

Yes, there will be a lot of money chasing a below average crop of free agents.

On to the Bears

If Tee goes and you can get him cheap I could see Keenan Allen ending his career with Burrow

Draft Order Cap WR Age Overall Receiving Run Block Snaps Starts 2023/Career stats Notes
Slot
10   Allen-Bears 33 64.4 68.2 31.6 848 15/149 70-744-10.6-7   54% Slot 6'2 211

Teven Jenkins might be the cream of the OL crop in FA. We are unlikely to pay his price....but

Draft Order Cap OL Age Overall Pass Block Run Block Snaps Starts 24/Career Notes Position
Left Guard
10   Jenkins-Bears 27 75.4 75.8 74.3 738 14/38   LG/RG

The Bears RG last year is also a FA, he is 30 already and incredibly versatile....worth a flyer if his market doesn't develop for sure

Draft Order Cap OL Age Overall Pass Block Run Block Snaps Starts 24/Career Notes Position
Right Guard
10   Pryor-Bears 30 69.9 78.1 65.9 1005 15/39   RG/RT/LT/LG 1yr 1.175M

if we are looking for a maybe inexpensive rotational end to contribute maybe Darrell Taylor....just 3 sacks lat year but a great pass rush grade and in his 4 years he has had 6.5-9.5-5.5 and then 3 sacks.....anyone know how to find pass rush win rate?

Draft Order Cap DE/Edge Age Overall Run D Pass Rush Coverage Snaps Starts 24/Career stats Notes
10   Taylor-Bears 28 59.8 50.3 70.5 53.1 374 0/13 32-3fl-9h-3s-2ff-2pd 365 Out 6'4 255

I predict they won't.

Bengals have a plethora of TEs as it is.

Pitts would be a 8mil investment and losing a pick for 1 year as he's a FS in 2026.

Better to keep Gesicki on a lower deal.

What do we have to give up?

"Big prediction for the offseason: Tight end Kyle Pitts is due $10.8 million on the final year of his deal in 2025. Can the Falcons get more for him in a trade than they would in a compensatory pick after he leaves in free agency? I think they could, as he has a rosier future on an offense that actually fits his skill set. My prediction: Pitts will get dealt to the Bengals for a Day 3 pick. — Solak"

Depends on what we do in FA and if Geseki is back. Pitts has been a bust but might do well with Joe, and with All it could be a nasty combo.

If they want to invest more in Pitts than Gesicki roll with it.

Makes no s nsr to me

I'm not commenting on it being posted here, I appreciate that peeps like Griever put in the work to post all things Bengals - it is much appreciated.

This is one of the new-ish breed of clickbait articles that I get suggested to me all the time in my feeds.  The headline reads like there's real evidence that "The Exciting Thing!" might really happen... I mean, it's ESPN!  But then when you read the actual article it's just some schmoe throwing out a totally random hot take, no actual journalistic work done at all  (and the article itself is just some loose, generic "wrapping" around that hot take).   In my experience you'd usually have such things limited to the hot-take type of on-air shows, which are easily avoided - and often the hot take did come from such a show.  Now, these generated sites shove it on you from every angle, and more and more often these are clearly written by ChatGPT or other LLM text generators.

I'm starting to recognize the generic pattern of headline wording, site naming, even font usage that are hints to this type of clickbait.  The amount of Leafs garbage I see in my feeds every day is actually starting to become easy to filter out with simple scripts or a quick regex.  I guess my point is - I see a silver lining in the lazy uptake of AI by fad-chasers and content spammers.

Bengals aren't going to give up a draft pick for Pitts. If Atlanta decides he isn't worth the 11 mil and releases him, then the Bengals might offer him a deal if Gesicki is leaving. Otherwise, just re-sign Gesicki and ignore TE in the draft. Even though there's a decent class this year.

49ers done

Mitchell would be an interesting rotational person

Draft Order Cap RB Age Overall Running Receiving P Block R Block Snaps Starts 24/Career Stats Notes ELU
Starters
    Mitchell-49ers 27 70.2 71.5 52.4 43.5 70.7 172 1/12 75-281-3.7-2; 6-14-2.3-0 5'10 200   IR-Hamstring

It's an interesting LG option that was not on my radar. 49ers are loaded with FAs so they can't bring everyone back

Draft Order Cap OL Age Overall Pass Block Run Block Snaps Starts 24/Career Notes Position
Left Guard
    Banks-49ers 28 65.4 60.5 68.9 775 13/43   LG

I think we will be looking for a veteran corner with some skins on the wall who will come cheap, can start in a pinch but wont be mad if he's just getting spot starts....that might be Yiadom

Draft Order Cap CB Age Overall Run D Pass Rush Coverage Snaps Starts 24/Career stats Notes Pass Rating vs

Gesicki is a good pass catcher and if All comes back healthy we are set

Agree and McLachlan is here as well… and Cam Grandy might be the new Sample.

With Sample All and Gesicki we have all phases covered.

Incide McLaghlin Grandu and there's no need to acquire any other TE for next season

Gesicki is a free agent & All is ~10 weeks removed from tearing the same ACL he tore against Wisconsin the year before.  Sample is closer to a fullback in this offense (H-back), a role in which he excels, but only technically in the TE conversation.

I like McLaughlan a lot

Did he get even 1 regular season snap this year? I'd expect the team to re-sign Hudson since he's cheap. It's no guarantee he makes the roster next year but the team has to make a decision on Gesicki. If they re-sign Higgins and extend Chase, do they want to give Mike 7-8 mil per year or put that into another position, whether guard for offense or just about anywhere on the defense.
