claptonrocks Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 JMarr could sign anytime. By letting it strong out he's banking on more per yr as the contracts go up.. Smart man. Hell sign but for top price which they'll pay.. 1 Quote
gupps Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 I think he only way we see Jamar/Tee/Trey playing on the same team this year is if Jamar and Trey get new contracts and Tee plays under franchise tag. (obvious I know). Watching the Bengals negotiate contracts is like watching a monkey f*ck a football. Quote

Tee is unsigned but will most likely sign the tender after July 15 if they don't give him a longterm deal. 4 hours ago, Griever said: Asking for a 1st round pick for the league's sack leader and DPOY runner up from a team wanting to pay him 30+ mil per year isn't ridiculous. It may be more than any team will give up and no trade happens but it's not an unrealistic ask. It's probably too late to make a deal now since the Bengals won't be able to sign a good replacement with the money saved. Quote

(obvious I know). Watching the Bengals negotiate contracts is like watching a monkey f*ck a football. Well see they want to extend Trey before they focus on Tee. They might still get a trade offer. Then they need to figure out the situation with Higgins so they know how to structure the bigger contract with Chase. Until they do that they won't know what they can spend on outside free agents. They need the budget to be more settled before they can make a counter-offer to Hendrickson. They want to extend him before they focus on Tee. So they can sign Chase. Then they can look at outside free agents. Until that's done... Clearly the best thing to do is nothing, which is where they happen to excel. 2 Quote
sparky151 Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 Yeah, it's so confusing. Nobody could expect them to work it all out in only 2 months. Quote

LostInDaJungle Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 Today I'm starting to see articles titled "Free Agency Winners & Losers" and I'll give you a quick guess as to who the "losers" are in every article. Literally... All Katie had to do was resign her own players, players who WANT to be here, and it would not be seen as a "loss". Realistically, she should have signed them both last year so we're not even having this conversation. Trey is already gone. Ossai was his $7M insurance policy. The moves made across the DL tell me that they're planning for Trey to not be a Bengal. I'm personally getting tired of expecting better from a bunch of lawyers who run the Bengals as their own personal piggy bank while sabotaging the careers of players I like. Sell the GD team. I'm not sure I should be happy that Myles Murphy got picked by the Bengals, so at least a bad player could take up a roster spot on a bad team... Or if I'm furious that Joe Burrow's prime is being wasted by accountants. Seriously, sell the team. If not, then trade Trey to a team that cares about winning. I am dead serious. Trade Joe Burrow while you're at it. Joe Burrow doesn't play the run well at all. Ha, a month ago you all acted like Chase Young wasn't "good enough". Y'all turned your nose up to filet mignon, and now you're trying to act like this hamburger is the best you've ever had. Trying to get excited over TJ and Cam FFS. Simping for an incompetent nepo billionaire. I'm sure Katie is doing everything she can and players are just negotiating in bad faith and asking for too much. It's so unfair for Trey to ask to be paid $10M less than guys who aren't as good as him. What an asshole. How dare Tee and Chase not beg for the opportunity to play in our little Shitsburg, Pennsyltucky backwater. They should play for less because we're such nice people. And we have such a committed winning culture. I like some of our players, and I root for those guys, but seriously, Fuck "The Bengals", and the Brown/Blackburn regime. I have never bought merch. I own one hat from training camp 25 years ago. I'm embarrassed to be a Bengals fan. And I live in "Commanders" territory... But I have to explain that I once lived in Springbroro when I was 10 and it just stuck. Katie Blackburn isn't qualified to run a Fantasy Football team. She isn't qualified to build a roster in Madden. Any other GM in the league would be fired and blackballed for screwing up an offseason this badly. But it will never change. And those parasites will siphon more money away from your city while pocketing $100M a year in their free stadium hiring two scouts and 50 family members. Katie will still be letting Pro-Bowlers walk when you and I shuffle off this mortal coil. 1 1 Quote

Yeah, it takes a relative of the owner to screw this up so badly. Tee publicly said he would have signed last year for the contract that Michael Pittman got from the Colts (3/70). Chase said he'd take the Jefferson contract plus a dollar last year. Now the Bengals will probably pay them a combined 12 mil per year more and take months to do it. People make fun of Woody Johnson's teenage kids having influence in the organization. Katie deserves just as much mockery. Quote

Putting it off makes sense if they don't really intend to do it but want to avoid the consequences of that getting out for as long as possible. With the franchise tag they could drag it out another year. Quote

LostInDaJungle Posted March 14 Report Posted March 14 https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6201191/2025/03/13/bengals-al-golden-defense-free-agency/ Quote What’s happened since suggests the Bengals forgot what transpired last season. Or, maybe more precisely, have made clear their opinion on what happened last season. That failure was Lou’s fault. Had to be, apparently. How else would you explain not only failing to add impact players to a defense lacking across multiple deficient position groups but doubling down on players who lived at the scene of the crime? Blow it up? Nope, that was far from the theme of this week for the embattled Bengals defense. They opted for “Run it back.” They brought back defensive tackle B.J. Hill ($11 million/year), along with edges Joseph Ossai ($7 million) and Cam Sample to the defensive line. All fine enough bets in a vacuum, but outside of 330-pound, run-stuffing nose tackle T.J. Slaton ($7 million/year), Cincinnati didn’t add a single new player to a group among the worst pass-rushing teams in the NFL. Quote
Jamie_B Posted March 14 Report Posted March 14 In think they believe that. I think they believe that they have the talent on D, they just haven't developed it, and that was on Lou. I don't think the talent is there, but well see I guess. Quote
WRAPradio Posted March 14 Report Posted March 14 We used to have talent...Awuzie, Bates, Reader, Hilton, Hendrickson, Ogunjobi...you would actually think we were building something...even Eli Apple played well for a 3rd string guy Quote

And fans were willing to say "Oh, noes, that guy who just played his heart out and got us to the Super Bowl wants too much money! We can replace them with draft picks!" But Trey Hendrickson wants too much money. We should replace him with draft picks. He doesn't even play the run well. Quote
