Will this weeks game make or brake our season

Recommended Posts

I don't think a lose is near as damaging as it would be if we were 0-2. We are a very young team and will likely win the week after any way, playing Cleveland, so 2-2 after the first 4 isn't terrible and keeps us in the playoff race.

Still, the Bengals should be treating this as a Playoff game. A win really puts us in a good position with games against Cleveland and Baltimore after it, we are in position to take control of the division with a win. Plus, the confidence boost it will give the players and the excitement it will generate with the fans hopefully will produce some great home crowds the rest of the way. Football can be a game of momentum and winning this game will give them as much as they have had since 2005.

I just hope the coaches start telling our guys to keep their heads on a swivel. The stealers just came off a bitter loss, and there are knees to be hit and cheap shots to be had. I hope that the Bengals are ready for that, and you know it's coming... and the Rooney's will make sure their check cleared this time! :steelerssuck:

I do not think this is a make or break game. We won the division in 2005 with a home loss to the stealers.

But a win would go a long way in the eyes of the national "experts".

But if we do lose, we need to make sure it's a game and not a blow out.

i think the ravens game might be more vital, as we could easily be .500 again come ravens game if we do happen to lose sunday against the steelers..

but with troy P out, we may be able to get the medium to long pass game going..

Benson isnt gonna run on the steelers front 7 like he did the packers..

the steelers have better players and a better DC who is far more familiar with us..

this game is going to be so freaking huge in my eyes. fist, it our rivals the stealers, and this game is a sell out. it is going to be loud, their will be some fighting amongst players and fans  and we win this, it will give our team such a boost to go to Cleveland and stomp those fuckers. but i also agree with Go, Baltimore is another tough ass road game.

i am mentally prepared to lose to the steelers... theyll be hungry, we have been KILLING ourselves... we have to paly a eprfect game to beat these guys.. and thats unlikely this early with these young guys..

I like our chances against the ravens so much more.... they ahve given up a LOT of points to the CHEIFS! and to the chargers without LT and without their starting Center.....

the defense still makes some smart big plays, liekt he game ender.. but the chargers easily should won that game....

then again the steelers are just as close to 0-2 as they are 2-0... without a dominating run game, teams are having slightly better success stopping drives..

a loss doenst mean a whole lot.. i am dying for a win because it would single certainly sell out the rest of the home game.. if we beat the steeelrs, we are going to beat the browns, and be 3-1.. the rest of teh home games are sold out FA SHO!

if we lose we are 1-2 and people ahve rom to cry and local media flakes as usual and dumps on the team and no one buys tickets, etc...

agreed. They know our D is going to be gunning for Hines, and their D will likely be gunning for our guys too. I saw 2 blow to the helmet calls in the highlights from their loss to the Bears that the refs didn't call.

im going to prepare for the worst and hope for the Best. but my gut tells me we beat the Steelers at home finally under Marvin, crowd goes crazy. Riot Police will come to the Stadium to escort Steeler fans out! :Harassment_emoticon: :machinegunyellow: :steelerssuck:

I want to beat them so very, very badly, and I think this is the year we do it, because they are showing signs of not being quite as dominant as they once were, even going back to last year that oline of theirs was pretty shaky and in two games this year they haven't been running the ball for shit.

Still, it's the Steelers, and Go's right, we need to be on our game and eliminate a bunch of penalties and cheap turnovers if we want to come away with a "W". I'm going to go out on a limb and say that we are going to get this one from them in a hard-fought battle, thanks to our improved defense.

If the Bengals lost to GB I'd say yes .Now they've been reborn . It's a shame about Denver but they rebounded a great style but not losing their cool . A win over the Steelers will be outstanding . A loss won't end all hopes . O-2 would have been a disaster. Take the Bengals and points.

To my mind its important to take back our home field. I want to see them play our kind of game instead of the Steelers' kind of game. We can do that on THEIR field about half the time, but we haven't done it on our field. I'd almost rather lose a 34-31 game with both of us moving up and down the field than win a 17-14 game where Rothelsburger has a chance to win in the 4th quarter but for some reason fails.

Almost.

There are a few teams that can outdo the Bengals playing our kind of game. The Steelers aren't one of them.

if we lose it means we are in WC hunt still at least. if we win it means we are in the division hunt. i think that is what this game determines unless we just get our asses beat then it probably means playoffs are a no go.

Hold on a second, man. You're saying this one game, the third of the season no less, is going to determine where they stand in the playoff race? Dude, waaaay to early for that. I don't see losing this game ending any chances we have for taking the division. The other teams are going to have losses too. Get up around week 9-10 or so and I'll be right there with you. Week 3 though? Too early, way to early.
