McNabb, T.O. teaming up again _ for TV show

PHILADELPHIA -- Donovan McNabb will be throwing passes to Terrell Owens again.

McNabb and Owens are teaming up on a basketball court instead of a football field in the new season of Spike TV's "Pros vs. Joes." The episode features NFL players that played college basketball against former NBA stars.

McNabb (Syracuse), Owens (Tennessee-Chattanooga) and Antonio Gates (Kent St.) will face Hakeem Olajuwon, Kenny Smith and Rick Fox.

Chad and TJ were also friends but that didnt really stop him from complaining when he didnt get the ball...

I'm not saying TO wouldn't complain about getting the ball, I'm talking about Chad and TO's personalities meshing vs. Chad and Bryant's personalities meshing. Last thing we need is the #1 WR and the #2 WR on the team fighting because they don't get along.

This is starting to get interesting. I'd prefer Bryant because TO looked a lot slower last year and at 37 will have a hard time staying healthy. Either one would be an upgrade over what we have though.

TO signed a 1 year, 5 million dollar deal last year and was a disappointment that the Bills didn't want back. I bet he gets a 1 year 3.5 million dollar deal. Talk of 3 years 20 million is crazy.

I think TO will be brought in under a 1 or 2 year deal. That allows the team to draft a WR in the first round but not throw him in Week 1.

Bryant, I would think, wants a long term deal. The tweets/blogs I have read seem to indicate that he is completely overestimating his market value.

does TO still have enough in the tank to be a valuable #2?

I say yes. He may have lost a step but he is a physical freak. He is big, strong, and can still run some. I think he fits well in this offense and he will feed off Chad.

i dont think TO has lost a step. he looked pretty damn fast on some of his plays at the end of the year last year when they actaully started hitting on some deeper passes.
Yeah, he got a pushoff one or two times, but for 37 years old he's pretty damn fast. He's one of those guys who frustrates CB's with his blocking too. Let Ced run towards his way a few times and see what he can do with a WR blocking downfield for him.

After watching that video...the defenders are the ones losing steps.

What a freaking monster! Chad would be open ALL DAY LONG with this guy opposite him.

Fuck Bryant...get TO.

All WRs complain about not getting the ball. It's just a question if they do in the media. Chad and TJ helped score alot of points. Now an impact RB is here with a defense. Just cash in on the drives more often than they did last year and they are going to be tough to beat again.

Ocho Uno?

I have not been avoiding the topic of Terrell Owens possibly becoming a Cincinnati Bengal. I simply have not had time to offer my thoughts on whether or not he could be a productive addition to the offense. For or against the acquisition, media members and bloggers have formed very strong opinions on the subject.

Owens' track record of being a horrible teammate is well documented. His stops in San Francisco, Philadelphia and Dallas were all filled with drama. He has always come off as a player with outstanding ability from the neck down and nothing from the neck up. His selfish attitude has alienated teammates and fans.

I also think the Bengals should sign him.

Why, you ask?

The Bengals need a wide receiver.

Last season, it was obvious that Chad Ochocinco felt the effect of not having T.J. Houshmandzadeh on the other side of the field to alleviate some of the pressure. Laveranues Coles was a non-factor, prompting the team to cut him last week. With Coles and his $4.65 million base salary for 2010 out of the picture, the signing of Owens seems more fiscally possible.

It's cool with Carson Palmer.

"I'd love to," texted Palmer when asked about the possibility of throwing to Owens. "His past doesn't bother me at all. If any qb can deal with extravagant wrs, it's me."

He does have a point. The one person that has always seemed to be able to keep Ochocinco under control is Palmer. It is easy to see who is in charge when the offense is on the field. Palmer may not have a flashy personality, but when he talks, the team listens.

It's so crazy, it just might work.

The Bengals have a reputation for trying to reform the bad guy. After an irrelevant season in Buffalo last year, Owens needs another chance.

Ochocinco has been lobbying hard for the Bengals to sign Owens. Could the two strong personalities keep each other in check? Some friendly competition between the two could provide Palmer and the Bengals with a much needed improvement to the passing game.

It would also be entertaining. During Super Bowl week, Owens said, "If I go to the Bengals, I'm changing my name to Ocho Uno."

T.O. and Cincy? Stop the train -- I'm hopping off
March 9, 2010
By Gregg Doyel
CBSSports.com National Columnist
Now that they're talking to Terrell Owens, the Bengals are on their own. I've tried to help as much as I could, from complaining to mocking to openly ripping them for their behavior and their personnel decisions, and with my help the Bengals reached the playoffs in 2009. It was a good partnership, the Bengals and me. But it's over.

Because this? I cannot condone this. And I cannot complain or mock or openly rip it -- because I cannot comprehend it.

The Bengals are talking to Terrell Owens. The Bengals are talking to Terrell Owens. The Bengals are ... sorry. That was for my own benefit. Just trying to wrap my brain around this puzzling piece of offseason news. Thought maybe if I wrote it enough times, and read it enough times, it would make sense to me. But alas, it does not.

The Bengals are talking to Terrell Owens? That's gibberish. It's complete nonsense. It's true, but that doesn't make it logical or smart. Terrell Owens is poison, plain and simple. You know how John Mayer called his former girlfriend, Jessica Simpson, "sexual napalm"? Mayer meant that as a compliment. Well, I'm calling Terrell Owens "locker room napalm." I mean that as an insult. Owens destroys locker rooms everywhere he goes, alienating quarterbacks and coaches and fans. For a guy who doesn't beat up women or kill dogs or drive drunk, he's still one the 10 worst human beings in a league that smells of sewage.

And the Bengals want him? Really?

You know, I don't know why I'm surprised. These are the Bengals, after all. This is a franchise that endured a string of player arrests in 2006, and saw coach Marvin Lewis vow at his season-ending news conference to start cleaning up the team. That same day, the Bengals signed a player from Iowa State, Jason Berryman, who was kicked off the team at Iowa State and had recently spent 258 days in jail. The same day.

That's the Bengals. And this is why I'm done helping. We won 10 games in 2009, did the Bengals and me. We swept the Steelers, swept the Ravens, swept the Browns. We hosted a playoff game. We turned the corner.

Only, around the corner was Terrell Owens.

So I'm hopping off. Before the crash. The Bengals don't see the crash coming, but that's the Bengals.

Quarterback Carson Palmer, who currently deals with openly narcissistic Chad [s]Johnson[/s] Ochocinco and who dealt for years with a more covert cretin in T.J. Houshmandzadeh, has given his consent to Terrell Owens. Asked by Bengals.com for his thoughts about playing with T.O., Palmer wrote back in a text message: "I'd love to. His past doesn't bother me at all. If any qb can deal with extravagant wrs, it's me."

Ochocinco also is on board with the possible addition of Owens, even clamoring for it during offseason interviews, although he's probably just playing the puppet, a role he plays well. Agent Drew Rosenhaus is pulling the strings here, telling one client (Ochocinco) to lobby for the signing of another client (Owens). It's obvious why. Nobody wants Owens. As good as he is at football, he's that miserable at life. He's poisonous, I'm telling you.

Look at the history:

• The Eagles go 6-10 with him in 2005. Owens leaves, and the Eagles improve to 10-6 with a playoff victory in '06.

• The Cowboys go 9-7 with him in 2008. Owens leaves, and the Cowboys improve to 11-5 with a playoff victory in '09.

• It works in reverse, too. The Bills go 7-9 without him in 2008. Owens arrives, and the Bills sink to 6-10. Now Owens is gone. Watch Buffalo go 8-8 or better in 2010.

The Bengals are a terrible fit for Owens, football-wise, and Rosenhaus knows it. Owens makes huge money, which means Rosenhaus makes huge money if T.O. has a huge year on the field. The Bengals are an offensively unimaginative team that prefers to give bullish back Cedric Benson 300 carries. Rosenhaus wants Owens in Cincinnati? Not really. He just wants Owens in the NFL, and Cincinnati is the only sucker willing to listen.

If it weren't for the Bengals, Owens would draw no interest. He literally might have to retire. Call it collusion or call it common sense, but NFL teams don't want this jerk on their team -- all but the Bengals, who are thinking about it. Ironic, in that the Bengals are one of the worst places for Owens to go. The quarterback, Palmer, is too meek to keep Owens under control. The head coach, Lewis, is too weak. The team's biggest star, Ochocinco, is too nuts. The owner/general manager, Mike Brown, is too naïve. In that locker room, in this city, Terrell Owens would run amok.

And this is my city. If it happens, it happens, but I'm done with the Bengals. If they sign Terrell Owens, I'm turning my attention and my affection toward the Browns.

As soon as they fire that idiot Mangini.

And I told him that he should just go be a Browns fan now. Good riddance.
