Building the Oline.....

Until this year teams often tried to get away with dressing fewer OL players on the game day roster so they could add players to other positions depending on injuries.  Offensive Linemen that were interchangeable along the line made it easier to do this.  It wasn't just a Bengal's thing.

Starting this year the new CBA allows 2 additional players on the game day roster but if IIRC one of those has to be an OL.  I have no idea how that is going to effect game day roster construction going forward.

I read somewhere you still get +1 (47) even if the "extra" is not an OL. 48 if one extra is an OL.

I'd imagine you just pick your top 46 as normal. Subtract an OL. Add whomever #47 would have been. Then submit that OL + another guy as your "extras."

Turner's comments are realistic about the challenges they face without being together in person.  This off season is not ideal for getting the o-line to work cohesively, but they've got to do it somehow.  He seems to think he's got enough pieces to make it work, but it will be difficult without practice time and limited contact.

Remember Jonah? Bengals Do As They Line Up Two No. 1s

Nice read on Jonah..

I looked into this awhile backand thought

this is a blindside bodyguard you have to have.

To think two perfectionists in Jonah and JB are suiting up together...on Our Team...

Is allmost a dream..

Seems hes ben going thru the whole seminar of fundementals and getting a fire in his belly again to overcome his awful start with the team..

Duke didnt say how it helped him but Im hoping it did...some...

Hope it helps more than when Ross spent the offseason with TJ.

If Price could start playing like a competent backup, it would help a ton. We'd have (potentially) 7 semi-competent lineman with cover at C-G & T (Johnson/Hart).

He has a long was to go but at least he is trying to improve.

I sure hope so, I'm sorely disappointed so far but hoping injuries were the problem and he takes a big step up this season.

Wherein the only NFL coach suspended for stalking says the word "character" several times and Hobson uses an extra-long straw to blow smoke up everyone's ass, in deference to social distancing guidelines.

He was supposed to help him with route running which we still see no evidence of

You see No evidence? At all?..

28 receptions for 500 yrds in a lil  half a

season says he showed some kind if propensity to get open no?

18.1 a catch is also topnotch....

Look is he a consistent pass catcher?...no

but hes not the pathetic receiver some make him out to be..

Im optomistic about gis play with JB...

We ll see....

 Touche.

Hobson never does or says anything critical of the team. That is how he still has a job. Quite the opposite, really

Blowing smoke and defending the organization. That IS his job.

Speaking of, lot of O-line puff pieces lately suggests to me that no more O-line help is coming.

Yeah well that 50% catch rate puts him 96th out of 99 Wide Receivers with more than 25 catches.  Good thing is he is better than Auden Tate who came in at 97th.   Granted, our QBs were not exactly throwing gift wrapped passed to our wideouts.

Definitely have to get these pct up this year for offense to move..

Michael Thomas caught 149 balls and led the league by far with an 85pct rate..

That is incredible..

Oline seems to be finished this year..

Only thing is who starts, makes the roster and PS ...

Saw a CBS mock for 2021 Bengals with number 2 pick taking OT Sewell ..

Kid seems to be the next coming of the great ones..

The price on him would be to go 2-14 possibly 3-13 to get that pick...

I dont want to watch a miserable season again..

Im hoping JB and Co. can provide more wins than what the media is projecting...

A Vegas Bet site has them at 5.5 wins..

Im looking for more...

The beloved PFF has them taking Sewell, too.

Seems to be the early darling for a great pick.

However, I agree with you.

I think we will win more than the predicted number of games

that would have us in a position to be able to draft him.

Drafting him (or the OT wet dream du jour) would entail trading up.

Our mid round first and second for Sewell or ?? OT,

Sure, why not?

PFF had plugging Sewell in at OLT and moving Jonah to ORT or even a Guard.

One other draft I saw had us taking the hot rat WR from LSU high with the first pick.

Need to start thinking about bringing in a young stud corner next year, IMO. Picking in the middle of the round should be a good place to make that happen.

Top corners next year are Patrick Surtain and Shaun Wade..both project to go in the top ten..

Israel Mukuabu of South Carolina may go 1st round or early 2..

He had 4 ints and 9 pds past year..

A big year may put him in middle of first...

Hes listed at 6'4 but draft scout has him at 6.2.6 and 205...4.52 forty..

Considering how well the Bengals seemed to draft this year I keep thinking it would have nice if the Brown Family Trust hadn't been skiing the Alps at last years trade deadline.  It would have been sweet to have had a few extra picks this year.

I think their draft was one that Zach

had alot of influence on the picks..

So many unknowns for next year.

We do not know how the rookies/FAs fit. How does AJ look? How does the O-line look? Do not know how contract talks for AJ/Mixon play out (could use a tag on one). How do our vet stalwarts (Atkins, Dunlap, AJ) play? Is drafting a replacement necessary?

Plus, there are some other contributors on the last year of their deals (Lawson, Bynes, Alexander, Tupou, S. Williams, WJ3). Do we bring them back? At what price?

We could go in any direction save QB.
