Florio points out the party might violate NFL rules concerning hospitality from gambling companies.

If no one was saying anything and now Florio stirs the pot so the league has to take action...what a dick.

Florio has been very critical of the NFL gambling policy but this is much ado about nothing.  It’s really not that complicated.  Players should not bet on any NFL games or bet on anything while in any NFL league or team facility.  The sports betting industry has ways to know what they are betting on and can/will report it to the league.  Everyone should know all of this by now.

It’s a stretch to claim that attending a party at a private residence violates the policy.  Fanatics wasn’t advertised or involved in any direct way.  If they had been or had the party been located at a casino or sports book, I think that would be problematic.  Florio is doing his typical routine.  It’s a dead period in the NFL calendar so he’s trying to drive clicks by inventing issues to rail against. He’s been doing this for 20 years.

There's a good chance Rubin had the party paid for by Fanatics as a business expense. Even if he paid 100% from his own pocket, it's still questionable as the food/drink/entertainment is probably worth more than the $250 limit. Florio's point is that the league's policy has giant holes in it and seems to be written more to shield the league from lawsuits than to let players and others know what is or isn't permitted. Why the distinction between bets place from the weightroom (forbidden) and the practice facility parking lot (no problemo)? Or the team hotel before a road game (verboten) vs from the player's bedroom before a home game (A-OK)?

Oh, 100%.  The league protects the league.  It's the PA that has to protect the players.  The PA should address things like this for the next CBA.

Gotta say it... and it will get me flamed off the board but...

Piss poor decision by Burrow to go and in his mandatory white outfit

rubbing elbows with scum like Brady and OBJ and some of the others completely sucks.

As far as I know, no Mahones, no Josh Allen, no other Bengal, no Aaron Rogers and C.J. Uzomah,

no Fat Randy no vote.

I didn't even think of the gambling connection but unless there was some sort of contractual obligation or big bucks in his

pocket I think Joe should have skipped it.

Kind of a "Say it ain't so, Shoeless Joe" moment for Ol' High School.  Not the Joe Burrow I know and love.

End of rant, sort of but, damn, Joe, birds of a feather flock together, a person is known by the company they keep and

you are so much better than that.

Its just a party.

JB has been a model franchise QB..

He's not a saint..who is?

He did nothing to conjure up negativity .

Maybe he just wanted to hang with some of the other guests such as Jay Z and Beyonce?

For a 26 year old dude that probably grew up on their music I think that'd be totally understandable.

JB aside, I've noted before that every other pro sports league has suffered through a major gambling scandal at some point in their history.  It'll happen in the NFL too, eventually.  Many of the team founders were degenerate gamblers and/or had shady ties to that world.  The current ones are mostly cut from the same cloth & their greed is bound to cause them problems.  Goodell's backroom deals and sanctimonious sputtering about Muh Sheeld!! will only protect them for so long.

Florio is still a pearl-clutching hack, though.  Don't take him seriously, Burrow's done nothing wrong.  The more he shines the more that Florio type of anklebiter will try to throw mud on him.  It's to be expected.

Say what you will, Ol' High School simply does not like to see Joe Burrow hanging around with ass wipes like that

at some  posh frou-frou circle jerk for some wealthy jock sniffer.  At least local wealthy jock sniffer Jeff Ruby

invites all the gang and even staying open late for JaMarr, Tee and the crew when they get in from a late game.

He's better than that, my Joe is.  And better than the other guests.

Unless there were other ties or something else involved...

He should have pulled every string he had and gotten invited to Taylor Swift's 4th of July party.

That would have been cool!

I'm gonna have the hot take that Joe Burrow is allowed to go to parties.

Of course he is.  JMHO that he should give more thought to the shit at such parties he chooses to attend.

If another Bengal or two was there, JaMarr, Tee, Sam Hub, McFearsome, etc et al, fine and dandy, Chad, even, as if I had a horse in the race.

But wearing a uniform and rubbing elbows with shit hooks like OBJ and Brady... he's better than that.

Unless there was something in it for him.

He's better than that ilk and wtf does he have to do with some entitled little rich boy and his birthday?

I would have much rather he attended Taylor Swift's 4th of July party.  He would have had a much better time

and far more hawt baes there than at that ass wipe publicity circle jerk.

End of topic and God Bless all who disagree.

Side note: Joe Shiesty is a major superstar and I would wager most attendees were just as excited to meet him there as Brady. He's closer to Beyonce on the celebrity scale, than OBJ.

Hell 'thirst trap' Burrow might be the most popular athlete on Tik Tok in the 14-25 age range.

+1  This is just silly.

I don't understand how any of us think we actually know these guys.  How in the world do you know OBJ or Brady are bad people?  You don't.  You don't even know that Joe Burrow is a good guy.  Seems to be, but you really don't know.  The guy you think is scum ends up being a stand up guy.  See Adam Jones.
