  1. Actually, not a bad idea at all. The Browns are very accessible to personal contact and communication with fans, much more so than any other owner, I would say. A politely worded letter to both Mike and Katie (don't call them Old Musty and Pumpkin, me thinks...) explaining your plight (avoid the term "fucked over) and how far you, Go, travel and the expense alone with you and your son should weigh heavily. And your support of the team at games away from Paul Brown Stadium (screw Paycore). You have put more into this team, time and money, than high profile guys like say, well... you fill in the blanks. If anyone qualifies as a "Super Fan" its you, Go. However... I would not mention the message board thing and if you do don't tell them which one. Just sayin' and told to me by a friend.

  2. i got my seats back. talked to 3 people and got pumped to a manager finally and it took some selling i had to pull out all the stops, all truthful, but i had to play the logic, the heart strings, the begging, and they gave in, its possible i will lose a set next year and keep a set.. but we shall see. after the fact the things that was frustrating me the most that caused my rage, is im getting older, my health isnt exactly great, and my kids are getting older, there arent going to be many years that i can spend this time with my oldest son, in a few years he is gonna have a demanding job, family, and maybe kids of his own, and fucking off to ohio to watch the bengals with me isnt gonna be possible. and the thought of the bengals stripping that away from me to appease some assholes on a wait list, assholes WHO DIDNT SUPPORT THEM WHEN SALES WERE DOWN, but want tickets now that they are good, theyd take that away from me for those fans? for no gain in their pocket? probably an emotional flounce but i was about ready to be done with this franchise. you cursed my life with andy dalton and now this??!?!? fool me once...

  3. Any way to contact Katie? She might do something for you. Owning and running a Bengals message board for so long might count for something. Proves your legit loyalty to the team.

  4. This team is full of guys just like that. We can't quite count on yet but we have an investment and we need to see where that investment goes. Turner-Hill-Murphy-Jones-Yoshi-Brown. Without snaps they won't develop. We can't count on them enough yet to give them snaps. Leveraging vets around them I think mitigates that. That's an argument for the return of Mixon, Higgins, Signing vets at S-Slot WR and Corner.

  5. Based on Simmons’ comments, there’s going to be a competition at punter, possibly from a veteran. Nobody is happy with what we saw last year and it appears that Robbins has to perform or he’s gone. At the same time, he’s not the first rookie to struggle and cutting bait early can lead to mistakes, like with Jake Elliott. I’m OK with letting it play out before I start bitching.

  6. yea the terms and conditions changed stating they could do that, but man in 14 years ive had season tickets i have attended 95% of the games. yes, but who cares, there are people on the waitlist who just want to re-sell as well, they are losing NO money, the place is sold out. why fuck fans over a rare season occurrence. and why would they care if they get $6000 from me or $6000 from some asshole on the waitlist?

  7. Things his OL doesn't need to work on: 1. Impression of a turtle on its back 2. Helping the QB up off the ground 3. Forgetting the snap count 4. Shuffling their feet while trying to decide who they're supposed to block 5. Jogging downfield without getting involved in the play 6. ????

  8. Probably not but he's not worth the money if so. Hes afraid to death to block a Blitzer unless it's a CB. Anyone else and he's already bailing out for a swing pass which the QB might have to throw under duress instead of blocking and letting the QB look for his main targets. Same ole same ole..

  9. It's the chip and a chair thing. Playoffs are just a tournament in a short time period. Randomness will happen. Teams that spend like the Dodgers are at the table year after year. Sure, a low-budget time can find lighting in a bottle for a year or two until they have to pay the guys they developed and off to the big money teams they go and back to the drawing board goes the small market team. It sucks. Hockey, basketball, and football have been around for 100 years. Baseball translates well over radio, which gave it a leg up for sure. Football and basketball are much better on TV. Still, the mismanagement of baseball has hurt it greatly and the lack of a cap is one of those issues. I still love baseball, but follow it so much less than I did due to the crummy shape the Reds are in, and generally have been for 20+ years. There is some hope with the plethora of young talent, but one or two of those guys has to mature into a real game changer. Young guys can look great and win the Rookie of the Year, and then a few seasons later be a platoon player. Hi Jonathan India!

  10. Yep - 10 yard splits are good to know, but top speed/overall athleticism such as relative athleticism score (RAS) to determine if tape matches. Think over 90% of AP’s this year had a RAS over 8.00.

  11. I still liked the old school days when the backup quarterback was the holder. Always a threat to stand up and throw one down the field. Cool stuff, that.

  14. I mentioned him on a thread awhile back. He's really talented but he's had some injury issues. He was at Michigan, then transferred to Iowa last year. I hope he tests well... he'd be worth a late pick or as a UDFA, IMO. Good player.

  16. If they tender anyone, I might guess Irwin gets priority, just to avoid the loss of both him and Boyd in the same season. And maybe even a tag and trade for Tee.

  17. To sort of agree and expand on what tex said, Turner showed impressive coverage ability and was willing when filling on runs - when he was a spot player. Once he was forced to start he wore down quickly and seemed overwhelmed more often than not. That could be rookie struggles but it could also mean he's not suited to be a full-time outside starter (too physically fragile?). FWIW I'm happy to see how he does in year 2 with some confidence that if he ends up a spot coverage guy who contributes on special teams he can thrive. Either way we need competition for our #2 CB spot.

  18. Sure, a vet is always welcome, especially given the youth they have at the position, as you noted. Guys like Mike Thomas, Chido, and Hilton helped the young guys get up to speed for sure, and the in-game experience no doubt helps. Maybe Chido comes back... I just know he wasn't good last year. Maybe it was the injury... and hats off to him for getting back quickly and trying to contribute. I'm sure he helped in the room, but on the field, he wasn't close to the same guy. But sometimes year 2 after an injury is a lot better. I liked Sidney Jones coming out of college, but then he got a bad injury before the draft and really hasn't done much since. He barely was active all season. But you can find vets out there that can contribute, no doubt. As an example, Stephon Gilmore was 30+ and after playing well in Indy the year prior, Dallas picked him up last year, and he played really well overall.

  19. IMO, I think he's really talented but after a good start, he dropped off and struggled quite a bit. Not sold on him as a starter (yet) although I thought he played a physical game, which did surprise me (in a good way). He's got speed and change of direction in spades, which are key, and he plays with an edge, which I like. OTOH, he didn't play the ball in the air very well, which is a concern. That said, had Chido been 100% healthy (and when he did play, play better), Turner likely would have played less... so while the reps Turner got should help him going forward, he got spun around some and didn't look great. Some time learning by watching might have minimized that, but he got thrown into the deep end and it showed. So overall, I'd say that you saw some good things, but he's definitely a work in progress and he's got to get better in order to be counted on as a reliable starter. Like others, I expect the Bengals to draft at least one corner... and/or a safety. You've got interesting young guys like Tycen Anderson and DJ Ivey, but they are coming off tough injuries... and then guys like Sidney Jones, Jalen Davis and Allan George, are basically unproven depth. I love Cooper DeJean and he could contribute in a variety of ways, but that may be a bit of a luxury pick, given the needs at DT and T, especially. I heard he's not working out at the Combine, given his injury late last season, but hopefully he'll be good to go prior to the draft.

  21. Key words would be “subject to change without notice”. Otherwise, you have appeal grounds. Don’t let it lie. Push back—and hard. Don’t let them stand behind “nothing we can do, sir”. There is always something they can do—especially this early in the year. Let me know if there is any advice I can help with. I’m pretty good with words.

  25. I feel like corner is a pretty safe bet in this draft for us in all honesty. Terrion Arnold or Quinyon Mitchell would be nice pieces to add to that D.

  26. Later this year will be the 50th anniversary of my enlisting in the US Navy. Vietnam was mostly over, but still a thing. There has always been tension in my thoughts about how the Navy was pretty good to me, but how that personal goodness came wrapped in a veil of evil. Our foreign policy then, and now, and every goddamned day in between makes me ashamed to be a citizen. I've tried to kick in my two bits worth of decency over the years, but that hasn't amounted to any more than spit in a rainstorm. In my lifetime, the US has consistently ratcheted itself downward and we passed the point of no return some time ago. It's a multi-polar world now, and piling up the bodies--as the US is so prone to do--won't save us in the final outcome, as much as those mental midgets we call leaders think it might do.

  28. According to Spotrac, Mixon will make $5.75 million in 2024 with a cap number of $8.85 million. He will count $2.75 million in dead cap space if released. He’s no longer one of the highest paid RB after restructuring his deal last year and I doubt he’ll be cut.

  29. Another "potential" guy we're supposed to wait for, cool!

  30. I’ve heard of this happening to accounts especially those reselling through Ticketmaster. There’s been a waitlist since 2022 for season tickets.

  31. The Legal Eagle in me senses something in either your original seat license purchase, or a "notice" which may have been missed--perhaps connected to the transfer of tickets via Ticketmaster or some other vehicle they utilize. I would be curious as to the details.

  32. I agree but it's maybe not that easy to me, we just watched the defense lose them a lot of games that Browning was capable of winning. Protecting the QB is more important but they couldn't get off the field on 3rd down. This OL also looked a lot worse than just one RT away from OK. More to my point, with $50m in cap space and the biggest chunk of that assigned to someone with high trade value that's not in their long term plans, they don't have to choose one or the other. They could potentially sign 2 FA's and have 2 1st round picks as well. Assuming Higgins is as good as gone, is it really worth passing on all that just to keep him another year? There's a pretty good FA pool for WR's, Higgins may be the best of them but there are good options for a WR2. Some combination of OT/DT/WR with the first 3 picks & complimentary FA's at those positions is the only way I see them keeping pace in the North. Rely solely on the draft, even with extra picks, and we're going to be chasing again.

  33. "Takes a lot of pride in making Robbins better" & this is how relying on coaches as primary draft scouts becomes a problem. This team does not have the luxury of waiting. I like Simmons but I fear he's been in that same chair for too long. He was named Assistant Head Coach when they hired Taylor. His duties include muddying the waters about who is in charge & undermining ZT's authority. Not with bad intentions but WTF is the purpose of giving him that title when they've just hired a new HC to make Big Changes? They did the same bullshit to Marvin, naming Ketchup Wizard the assistant HC when he was hired. It's not really a changing of the guard when you make the last remnant of the old guard your 2nd in command and give the new one a 3 year contract. That's hedging your bets, it's showing that not only do they not have full confidence in the new hire, they want a daily reminder lurking in the next office. IDK what that's about but it smells musty to me. Ownership need to get over treating these coaches like they have tenure. He's not the loyal family butler. He's a football coach that's been on the same team through 20 years of underachieving. Why isn't he an OC or DC somewhere else, if not here? Or an actual head coach? Sounds to me like someone way too comfortable with the status quo.

  34. I've seen the first two episodes. It's okay but it's like a lot of the newer music documentaries, imo. Some neat storytelling but kind of self-serving. I did have this thought while watching: "I sure wish there was a documentary series like this about The Big Red Machine."

  35. He just said he expects him to be back they didn't get into salary (he was not asked). We both know they aren't going to ask him to take a pay cut two years in a row.

  36. With no negative reference to what you posted, this sort of speculation is what I have seen the media help to fuel animosity towards players. It seems that every tag “victim” (and I have actually seen this description used) is automatically “disgruntled” at being tagged…naturally PO’d at his team…will not comment on the situation (sometimes brusquely)…leading to the inevitable “he’s not happy here, so may as well ditch him before he affects the locker room” media line. This will follow its progression, and likely within a month, he’ll be as popular as cholera around the internet world

  37. I guess I didn't realize they had gotten so high Type Amount First Round $6,822,000 Second Round $4,890,000 Right of First Refusal $2,985,000 I could see us doing the Hudson Tender. But I will agree with you on Irwin. They like him but we might be better off if he leaves.
    1 point
  38. That's an easy one, it would be NT. Need to protect Burrow is a full season imperative. The NFL is a passing league so having a bad run defense isn't fatal, just annoying. And there are lots of ways to cover for a rookie DT who isn't up to speed right away.

  39. I'd be surprised if they were tendered, though the Bengals once tendered Josh Tupou. It was the highest pay of his career. There are different levels of tender but it would probably cost at least a couple mil each to have the rights for Hudson and Irwin. Maybe they are worried about Callahan poaching them or something but I think both could be resigned cheaper than that.

  43. The Chiefs basically just won a Super Bowl largely because of a tremendous special teams performance. The KC punter bailed out a struggling offense several times in the game. Butker/Townsend was the best PK/P tandem in the NFL this past season. Need someone great to pair with McPherson.
