2010 - We went to Carolina in Week 3
2011 - We went to Denver in Week 2

Where are we going this year? Here's the road schedule and my thoughts:

Wk01 (9/10) Baltimore (MNF) - Nope. Can't easily arrange a group trip for a Monday night game
Wk03 (9/23) Washington - Maybe
Wk04 (9/30) Jacksonville - Maybe, as long as there are a lot of us and we take redneck repellent
Wk06 (10/14) Cleveland - Nope. Why pump any of our money into their economy.
Wk11 (11/18) Kansas City - Definte maybe, good BBQ
Wk13 (12/2) San Diego - Long trip, but there are worse places to go than SoCal in December
Wk15 (12/13) Philadelphia (Thursday) - No effing way. The stadium is full of assholes, and it's a Thursday.
Wk16 (12/23) Pittsburgh - Fuck no. See Cleveland.

For an early season game, I'm thinking Washington or Jacksonville.
For a mid-season game, it's Kansas City all the way.

I am going to either KC, DC or Jax. Have not made up my mind.

If anyone is going to Jax, single game tickets go on sale Aug 1 though they will probably be on StubHub for half price.

Been to all 3. DC is by far the best

I live in California, but San Diego is still pretty far. About 400-500 miles. I will try to make it to that game, but I am not sure if I can get the time off or not. I wouldn't want to have to drive back the same day. I don't want to fly because the drive down is what makes the trip worth it, and if I flew to San Diego I might as well fly to Denver or something.

Sure, the distance probably makes it a no-go for the outing. But I thought I'd throw out the info for the heck of it.

I REALLY would love going to Cincinnati for a game. I have always been the "away team" fan in Oakland, and in San Francisco. I have never been to a Bengal home game. I was REALLY thinking about traveling to Cincy to catch a game this year.

SD is a 5 hour drive from Vegas, and I sure as shit wouldn't want to drive back the same day either...

Going to the DC game. I expect it to be crazy because it's their home opener. Hoping I can avoid being murdered with the wife there. Last time we went to Baltimore she loudly asked why the browns were wearing purple. I guess I'll just have to drink enough that the punches don't phase me.

KC is a really nice town, actually. Chiefs should be pretty good this year, since guys like Charles, Berry, and Moeaki will all be back They've got good fans, too. And great BBQ, as Amish indicated.

I've been to a game in SD - it's a great city and the stadium is pretty cool, too. City has damn near perfect weather, the beach, etc. And Tijuana is close in case you need cut-rate steroids, HGH, Viagra, etc. (just what I've read). And cheap entertainment.

I've been to DC - used to live near that shithole. Hoping we don't go there, but if we do at least I can tell y'all which parts of PG County to avoid (namely, all of them).

Jacksonville's appeal is that it's early in the season. Of course, that means it'll be hot and the sweaty rednecks will be out in force. Better to go to JAX after week 7 when they're already eliminated from the playoffs and start showing up to the games dressed as empty seats.

I'm biased toward KC. Less than 500 mi from Bloomington. Let's go to KC. :)

I would do a Philly jaunt. Have lots of family around there. And, despite Amish's fear and loathing of all things Iggle..the fans are not really that bad. Just don't wear opposing colors and stay out of most of the 200 section. You will be fine.

Maybe.

OK...perhaps KC would be a better choice.

That will take 17 hours and two gropings by TSA.

Right,... but if you go, you will have more teeth and a higher IQ than pretty much anyone in the stadium that day.

One year my brother and I yelled "Rey Lewis is a murder" at the top of our lungs in Bmore. The lower sections are fairly tame the upper, not as much.

Another time some dude with his kids walked up behind me when I was wearing a Pollack jersey and he said "his jersey says Pollock" he was wearing a Rey jersey and when he passed me I said "oh look his jersey says murder" right in front of his kids.

Explain that one daddy.

I'll be going to the Philly game. A bunch of coworkers are season ticket holders and have huge organized tailgates so I plan to get hooked up with one of those groups. Solid tailgate and built in protection from random thugs, I'm looking forward to it.

My buddy says he'll pay for my ticket if I fly out to SD but its going to be hard for me to convince the wife she doesn't need to come.

Wd24k: do you have contact info for Lenny? I'm certain he's working this right now. :)
Lenny put together a trip to San Diego. It's full, and filled up almost immediately. 24k and I are not going. I can ask him Thursday if he has anyone that is backing out.

KC and DC are the two most attractive options in my opinion. KC is supposed to be a great game day experience with everyone tailgating early and having a good time. Some good food options and okay entertainment options. There's ton to do in DC and it should be a great crowd also as they are justifiably excited about RGIII.

I guess it would depend on how much time you are going to spend doing touristy things or if you're going pretty much just for the game and dinner. If you are making it a full weekend, I'd probably pick DC. If you're just staying a night, I'd go KC.

Unfortunately, I think both of these games are underratedly difficult. KC doesn't have much at QB, but they've put together a super talented roster everywhere else. They've invested a lot of picks and money into their OL and with the addition of Eric Winston at RT, finally have an impressive unit. They are also very talented at RB, WR and TE. On D, they've also done a great job amassing talent through the draft in recent years. Eric Berry and Tamba Hali are stars. Derrick Johnson is really good. Some nice young guys at CB. Their LSU duo of Tyson Jackson and Glenn Dorsey haven't lived up to their draft spots, but are still solid. And they added Dontari Poe to the mix as well. The Redskins could be really explosive on offense. RGIII's speed will put a lot of pressure on the defense and really open up running lanes for their RBs and they have some solid options in the receiving game. With guys like Brian Orakpo and the kid from Purdue they drafted last year, they can really get after the QB on defense.
